If you've been reading the blog for a while, you know Sean and I like to come up with themes, silly pictures and costumes, and crazy ideas for our Christmas cards.  This year is no exception. You can see our other cards on the blog here and here.

In today's post, I present you with our card photo and review the new accessories I bought to get cold weather mileage out of my Torrid Outlander dress.  I have been wearing it a lot lately and am so happy I went ahead and purchased these pieces. Read on!

What I Wore: Ugly Christmas Bunco

Today, Hailey reviews the Oh Snap! Gingerbread Man Ugly Christmas Sweater from Target and Distressed Plaid Skinny Jeans from Lane Bryant. She also walks you through the fun gingerbread-inspired accessories she made for her outfit! - #Target #TargetStyle #LaneByrant #LaneStyle #skinnyjeans #Christmas #holiday #uglysweater #uglychristmassweater #gingerbreadman #DIY #psblogger #plussizeblogger #styleblogger #plussizefashion #plussize #psootd #ootd #plussizeclothing #outfit #winter #style #plussizecasual

We've been playing Bunco with a group of friends for a few years now.  On some occasions, we choose a theme for the month where we are all encouraged to dress up.  For Halloween one year we did an 80s theme; and this is the second "Ugly Christmas" Bunco.  I don't think buying holiday-specific apparel is all that practical, but I wanted to wear something different from last time.  Once we decided on tops, an idea snowballed into me crafting accessories for both Sean and I to wear to the party.

In today's post, I review this Christmas sweater from Target, new skinny jeans from Lane Bryant, and show you more details of my Ugly Christmas ensemble!

Reader Appreciation Holiday Giveaway!

 Reader Appreciation Holiday Giveaway -

Happy Holidays to all my awesome readers/blog friends out in the world!  I just wanted to let you all know how much I appreciate your love and support, understanding and thoughtfulness, comments and likes, and conversing with you all via social media.

I wish I could pass out gifts to all of you, but that would require me to build a workshop, hire some magic reindeer, and find a man who looks good in a red suit to deliver said gifts via a magic sleigh.  Tall order!   Nevertheless, I wanted to give a small gift of my appreciation to one lucky reader, so I've put together a little gift box of some of my favorite things.

Read on for a look at what is in the gift box and enter to win!

Reviewing Maple Holistics Silk 18 Conditioner

In today's post, Hailey reviews the #1 best selling conditioner, Silk 18, from Maple Holistics, a company specializing in natural hair care, skin care, and body care. Read her review and find out how you can sample a product from the company as well. - #mapleholistics #silk18conditioner #naturalbeautyproducts #naturalproducts #beauty #haircare #hairconditioner

I've been trying to make the switch to using more natural and organic products for my beauty needs.  While it can be hard to find things across the board that meet my needs, budget, and performance expectations, I feel that it is still worth the effort to try out new natural products when I find them.  I have come across some fantastic products and companies in my pursuit and, in the process, been able to switch a majority of my hair care, bath and body care, and skin care (and some makeup too) over to natural and organic products.

Maple Holistics was not on my radar until they reached out to me.  They specialize in natural hair care products, but also have bath and body and skin care items as well.  Products are made in the USA, are all natural, cruelty free, sulfate free, and safe for color-treated hair.  They sent along one of their best sellers - the Silk 18 conditioner - for me to try and review for all of you.  I've been using it for two months now in an effort to give you a well-rounded review.  Read on for my experience!

What I Wore: Meandering Through The Holidays

In today's post, Hailey reviews the Outlander Clan Fraser Scoop Tee from Torrid, a component in her winter errands uniform as of late. - #Torrid #TorridInsider #psblogger #plussizeblogger #styleblogger #plussizefashion #plussize #psootd #ootd #plussizeclothing #outfit #spring #winter #fall #summer #style #plussizecasual #lanebryant #LaneStyle #reebok #plaid

Hello, my lovelies!!  I hope you all are staying warm and are not too crazy busy this holiday season.  The weather has not been cooperating with my schedule lately, so some days (like today) you may get outfit photos from my dressing room.  The weather people can't seem to get the forecast right either lately, which also greatly reduces my chances at getting you proper photos.  I promise I'm trying.

I had grand plans of keeping it chill this month, but we have been all over the place.  When we're at home, Sean and I have spent time working on house chores, home improvements, and cleaning.  When we get out and about to friend gatherings and seasonal events, it has been pouring rain, snowing, or (in the case of this past weekend) I have panic attacks from all the rude people and large crowds.

While my emotions have been all whack-a-doodle, my fashion has been pretty consistent.  I am a practical girl at heart, so I've been playing it comfortable and casual for most outings.  My uniform as of late has been jeans, comfy shoes, a tee or cami, and a plaid shirt.  In today's post, I am presenting you with one such look and reviewing this t-shirt from Torrid.

Stay cozy, my friends!

Reviewing Kiyonna's Lustrous Lace Wrap Top

  In today's post Hailey reviews the Lustrous Lace Wrap Top from Kiyonna, perfect for a festive holiday ensemble but versatile enough for year-round wear!- #Kiyonna #KiyonnaStyle #KiyonnaPlusYou #psblogger #plussizeblogger #styleblogger #plussizefashion #plussize #psootd #ootd #plussizeclothing #outfit #winter #spring #summer #fall #style #datenight #weddingstyle #holidaystyle

It is that holiday time of year again!  While I don't have a ton of holiday parties to attend, I love eyeing and collecting sparkly pieces this time of year.  I believe in shimmer and sparkle day or night, all your round.  Naturally, the holiday season brings fashion that touches my glitter-loving heart!!  From dressy to casual, disco ball brightness to more subtle hints of sparkle, there is something twinkly out there for everyone's taste.

In today's post, I am reviewing the Lustrous Lace Wrap Top from Kiyonna.  This top is lacy with an overall shimmer that makes it perfect for dressing up or down for the holidays, but it is also completely wearable and appropriate for a summer wedding as well.  Versatility never goes out of style!  Read on for my review...

What I Wore: Workout Wear

In today's post, Hailey reviews the LIVI Active Pullover Active Tunic from Lane Bryant and Wicking Spacedye Leggings, perfect for workouts and lounging alike! - #psblogger #plussizeblogger #styleblogger #plussizefashion #plussize #psootd #ootd #plussizeclothing #outfit #spring #winter #fall #style #activewear #plussizecasual #lanestyle #lanebryant #reebok

I hope all my American homies had a wonderful Thanksgiving; and I hope everyone else in the world is having a great end of November.  I know it is hard to think of things in those terms considering everything going on in the world, but I have to stay positive or I would just be crying all the time.

Sean took all of last week off so we could work on house projects and the like, but right before his vacation started he came down with a cold.  We got a few things done around the house and hosted a small Thanksgiving dinner, but we were exhausted.  As luck would have it, I caught his cold.  As I type this, I am experiencing my most poopy day of the cold yet.  I am wrapped up in layers of clothing and still freezing, my muscles ache, and my head is super stuffed.  I can't breathe through my nose, which I always forget makes you feel so exhausted.  Sometimes I think not having a thyroid makes the times I get sick feel a little worse.  It also doesn't help that I was in a short-sleeved top and skirt in 40 degree weather yesterday doing outfit photos (it was the only non-raining day for at least a week or so).  I think that was the last straw.  I am hard-headed, but doing my best to rest.

In the meantime, I have a cozy workout outfit I wanted to share.  I've previously reviewed some of my workout gear in my At Home Dressing Room post (I will be doing another one with my Black Friday purchases in the next few weeks).  Today's post includes those previously discussed leggings, along with a new hoodie I acquired.

What I Wore: A Torrid Outlander Collection Review

In today's post, Hailey talks about her love for Outlander and reviews a few pieces from the Torrid Outlander Collection - the Tartan Wrap Bodice Swing Dress, Je Suis Prest Pullover, and Tartan Coat! - #torrid #torridinsider #torridxoutlander #torridoutlander #Outlanderfashion #torridfashion #outlander #tartan #psblogger #plussizeblogger #styleblogger #plussizefashion #plussize #psootd #ootd #plussizeclothing #outfit #spring #winter #fall #style #plussizecasual

I became an Outlander fan quite by accident.  I vaguely knew it was a book from the early 90s, but that is about all I knew.  When the television show started, I saw a few friends post about it on Facebook, but we didn't have the Starz channel and I wasn't going to worry about it.  In between seasons one and two of the show, Sean and I subscribed to Starz to watch Patrick Stewart's show Blunt Talk.  It was at this time we decided to start watching Outlander.  Mid-way through the first episode, I was hooked.  It has a bit of everything: time travel, romance, historical fiction, adventure, sci-fi/fantasy, warfare, mystery, betrayal, kilts, hot sex, etc.!  The list goes on and on.

Despite my inner protests (because I felt silly for liking it so much, because I don't really have time for another obsession, because I thought maybe it made me too predictable in some way), I became more and more obsessed with the show and dove into it all pretty quickly.  All this to say, I am a newer fan of the series but have latched onto it wholeheartedly.  I just started the seventh book.  There are currently eight books of the main story to catch up on, along with extra books involving various characters.

When Torrid announced an Outlander collection, I was overjoyed!  In today's post, I am bringing you reviews of the pieces I chose - the Tartan dress, Tartan coat, and Je Suis Prest sweatshirt.  It was hard to find a compromise between "I WANT IT ALL" and being practical, but such is life. haha  Enjoy!

What I Wore: Getting Aquainted With Vests

In today's post, Hailey reviews the Drape Front Vest from Torrid and Girlfriend Jean from Catherines - two wardrobe basics with loads of potential! - #Torrid #TorridInsider #Catherines #CatherinesStyle #ILoveCatherines #psblogger #plussizeblogger #styleblogger #plussizefashion #plussize #psootd #ootd #plussizeclothing #outfit #spring #winter #fall #summer #style #vest #plussizecasual #lanebryant #crocs

Hello again, y'all.  I am back and attempting to be lots more productive this week.  I am off to a good start.  I hope all of you are finding some kind of peace in this new week.  I know last week, and many months to come, was pretty rough for a lot of us.  I try not to discuss politics on the blog because that stuff tends to anger me (and others) pretty quickly.  I am a very passionate person and hold very strong beliefs on many subjects.  But this is supposed to be a happy place for the most part, so I refrain from discussing matters that could be too polarizing and get my pressure up.

That being said, it is important to me to state that if you are a person of color, LGBT+, Muslim, an immigrant, and/or a woman, you are safe with me.  If you need someone to vent to, if you need help, I will do what is in my power to be an ally to you.  None of you have ever made disparaging remarks about others here on the blog, so I don't really have to tell you that racism, bigotry, xenophobia, and misogyny will not be tolerated in my little space on the internet.  If you see something, say something.

Now on to happier subjects!  After many years of convincing myself that I could never wear vests, I have jumped that hurdle successfully.  In today's post, I review this black drape-front vest from Torrid and Girlfriend Jeans from Catherines.  Also included is a collection of some of the vested outfits I have worn since I started to test out this style of clothing. Enjoy!

Reviewing Kiyonna's Love Story Cardigan

In today's post, Hailey reviews the Love Story Cardigan from Kiyonna, a perfect lightweight layering piece for chilly days! - #Kiyonna #KiyonnaStyle #KiyonnaPlusYou #psblogger #plussizeblogger #styleblogger #plussizefashion #plussize #psootd #ootd #plussizeclothing #outfit #spring #winter #fall #style #plussizecasual

I know it has been pretty hot in other parts of the country lately, so I am not going to assume you are all in the fall mood.  However, it has been chilly enough here to require longer sleeves and light layers, which I am thrilled about!  I love pulling out my fall wardrobe of jeans, boots, and cozy sweaters.

In today's post, I am celebrating fall vibes and reviewing this layering staple from Kiyonna (sizes 10-32)!  The Love Story Cardigan is my October review pick and is a perfect solution for lightweight layering on these somewhat chilly days.  If you love the bellinis (knit & lace), you will definitely approve of this latest cardigan style.

Savannah Trip: Family Time & Sightseeing (Thanksgiving 2015)

In today's post, Hailey reminsces on her trip to Savannah, Georgia to visit her sister, thinking on the quality time she spent with her family and talking about some of the sightseeing in the city they all did together. - #Savannah #SavannahGA #travel #vacation #plussizetravel #RiverStreet #EmmetPark #CityMarket #tangeroutlet

I've finally had a little bit of time to catch up on some photo editing and selecting photos to share on the blog.  I can't believe I am so far behind in sharing my travels with y'all.  Life has just been crazy busy.  I have already shared what I wore on my trip to Savannah during Thanksgiving last year.  Sean and I went down to Georgia to visit my sister and her family for the holiday.

My sister and I are really close, but 3,000 miles between us meant I hadn't seen her in about six years.  My niece was just a baby the last time I was able to travel to Georgia; So it was great fun to spend lots of time with them while we were visiting!  In today's post, I share photos from our family time fun, with a little bit of our Downtown Savannah excursion thrown in.

What I Wore: Mad For Plaid!

Today on the blog, Hailey celebrates the official arrival of fall weather and reviews this Plaid Casual Tunic from Lane Bryant. - #skinnyjeans #plussizeskinnyjeans #LaneBryant #LaneStyle #plaid #psblogger #plussizeblogger #styleblogger #avaandviv #plussizefashion #plussize #psootd #fall #style #plussizecasual

I cannot believe it is almost November already!  The weather has been rainy for a while, but finally started to get cold enough that I need a light jacket when I leave the house.  I adore the days it isn't raining, or isn't raining too much, which also afford me the chance to take outfit photos.

This look is from another early morning errand-running day.  Sean and I had to go get blood work done first thing, and then ran some errands and went to see a movie with the mom-in-law.  I always love plaid, but I especially love wearing plaid in the fall.  There is always a cozy, laid-back feeling to plaid for me, so I tend to gravitate towards plaid shirts with a more relaxed fit. In today's post, I review this tunic from Lane Bryant!

Birchbox - July and August 2016

Birchbox for July and August 2016 - #Birchbox #beautybox #subscription #beautysubscription #makeup #skincare #haircare #marcelle #parlorbyjeffchastain #clinique #clean #mdsolarsciences #sunscreen #coola #beautyprotector #mannakadar #marcelle #randco

It has been a while since I've done a Birchbox review.  I've been trying to keep up with my monthly boxes and stay organized.  Today's post is a review for my July and August Birchboxes!

If you are unfamiliar with Birchbox, it is a monthly subscription service.  For $10 a month, you get a selection of  five or so samples of various products that have been chosen to fit the monthly theme and your beauty profile.  Birchbox tends to focus on higher-end brands, with more skin and haircare items.  In comparison, Ipsy tends to carry more drugstore brands and makeup, with high-end brands mixed in here and there.  Both of these boxes have a mix of skincare, haircare, makeup, fragrance, and nail polish.  I also started getting the Sephora Play box, which also has a mix of products (mostly makeup) and focuses on the higher end brands that Sephora carries.  I love them all and enjoy trying out the products that each supply to my junkie needs.  If you want to subscribe to one and are unsure of which to choose, let me know what you want most and I can help you choose the best one for you.

What I Wore on Vacation: Beach Trip to Newport, Oregon

In today's blog post, Hailey highlights some favorite pieces to pack for travel, specifically for a short road trip to the Oregon Coast. (Kohl's Sonoma Hooded Raglan Top, Catherines Girlfriend Jeans) - #Kohls #LaneBryant #LaneStyle #OldNavy #Torrid #TorridInsider #Kiyonna #KiyonnaStyle #CatherinesStyle #Catherines #psblogger #plussizeblogger #styleblogger #plussizefashion #plussize #psootd #fall #spring #summer #style #plussizecasual #beachtrip #travel #oregoncoast #newportoregon #newportor

Last month Sean and I decided to take a last minute trip to the beach.  We desperately needed to get out of town, as it has been quite some time since our last vacation.  I needed to see the ocean and breathe the sea air and stare at the water.  It's just one of those things my soul was craving.  I was feeling very stifled, claustrophobic, and burnt out.  It was a short trip since we are saving up for Hawaii, but it was great nonetheless.  I wish we could have spent the whole week there.

We chose to go to Newport, Oregon because neither one of us has been there before.  Newport is located in the central area of the Oregon coast.  I will talk about the fun we had on our trip in later posts (whale and seal sightings, sunsets, fun at the aquarium, etc.).  I took so many pictures and am still in the midst of editing.  Today, I am talking about what I wore on the trip, with the added bonus of Sean's "Outfits of the Days" in case the plus-sized guy in your life needs some outfit ideas also.  And just to prepare you, we do take a lot of couple selfies on our trips.  It's just what we do.  Enjoy!

What I Wore: New Skinny Jeans, Layering, and Anxiety! Oh My!

Today on the blog, Hailey reviews a pair of Ava and Viv Skinny Jeans from Target and talks about transition pieces for fall and dealing with constant anxiety. Also, featured Lane Bryant's 3/4 Sleeve Scoop-Neck Pocket Tee and Ava and Viv Utility Vest. - #Target #TargetStyle #avaandviv #skinnyjeans #plussizeskinnyjeans #reebok #LaneBryant #LaneStyle #psblogger #plussizeblogger #styleblogger #plussizefashion #plussize #psootd #fall #spring #style #plussizecasual

The busy season of holidays, parties, shopping errands, and other fall and winter events is upon us!  I'm already tired thinking about the limited amount of free weekends I have between now and January.  However, this busy season also means I will have more opportunities to do outfit photos, if the weather will cooperate a bit.  With fall comes rain here, so expect soggy scenery for the most part. haha  (For example, we have rain and thunderstorms forecast for the next two weeks straight. Such is life in the PNW.)

In today's post, I'm showing you an errand-running look with previously-talked-about-on-the-blog tee and vest, but I'll be reviewing these new Ava and Viv skinny jeans for you too.

Reviewing Kiyonna's Serenade Swing Dress

In today's post Hailey reviews the Serenade Swing Dress from Kiyonna, creating two looks - an evening out and a more casual fall day.- #Kiyonna #KiyonnaStyle #KiyonnaPlusYou #psblogger #plussizeblogger #styleblogger #plussizefashion #plussize #psootd #ootd #plussizeclothing #outfit #spring #summer #fall #style #plussizecasual #swingdress #datenight #weddingstyle #Avenue #Catherines #CatherinesStyle

In today's post, I am stepping out of my comfort zone once again and trying something new.  After the huge success of trying a halter top in my last Kiyonna post, I decided to try a swing dress this time.  Swing dresses are such a cute and comfy style, but I think the silhouette has kept me from giving it a try.  I am so used to cinching my waist and emphasizing that area to create shape, that wearing something less shapeless really intimidated me.

I had a great time creating different looks with the Florence Flair Halter Top to show you the versatility of the piece.  I decided to do it again this time, taking the Serenade Swing Dress from a dressier date night or wedding guest look to a more casual, fabulous, fall-ready look!

What I Wore: Give Me Grey!

Today on the blog, Hailey reviews a pair of grey a.n.a jeggings from JCPenney, a great excuse to utilize the floral babydoll top from Torrid again in a fall-ready remix. - #JCpenney #ana #jeggings #plussizejeggings #Crocs #Torrid #TorridInsider #psblogger #plussizeblogger #styleblogger #plussizefashion #plussize #psootd #fall #style #plussizecasual

The rain in my neck of the woods has begun!  While I can usually do fine without a jacket until early November, apparently this onset of rain means that all the stores have to crank the heat up to oven-worthy temps.  Most of my friends also feel the need to turn their homes into saunas this time of year.  Therefore, I must dress accordingly.

My fall style is less about layering and more about comfortable fabrics that offer some coverage against the chilly air, but will keep me comfortable in heated establishments.  In today's post, I am remixing this top previously seen on the blog and reviewing these grey jeggings!

What I Wore: Lattes and Lipstick

Today on the blog, Hailey reviews this JCPenney's Boutique+ Graphic Tee, styled for a sunny fall day.- #JCpenney #Boutique+ #Crocs #Torrid #TorridInsider #LaneBryant #LaneStyle #psblogger #plussizeblogger #styleblogger #plussizefashion #plussize #psootd #fall #style #plussizecasual

"Finally, another fashion post!" some of you may be thinking.  Sorry it has been so long, y'all.  Life has been happily busy and, after our trip to the beach, I was basically in my pajamas for a week and a half.  House chores, resting, editing photos, and catching up on various things were what was in order.

As I gear up for my next round of thyroid cancer-related check-ups, my anxiety has gone through the roof!  It tends to do that before any doctor's appointment these days, but it becomes pretty all-consuming and everything seems to trigger it.  I'm trying different techniques to handle the anxiety better.  Sometimes it helps, sometimes it doesn't.  I attempted a "Give No F*cks" attitude last weekend to keep from having a panic attack over something I knew would trigger me; and it helped.  It is just an ongoing process of constant awareness, repeating positive phrases, and reassuring myself that I am okay.  I am assuming this feeling of total dread is quite common under the circumstances, so reminding myself I am normal and not the only one who is feeling this way can sometimes keep the anxiety monster from growing.

Read on for outfit details and all the fun stuff...

Hello, my friends!  Today I'm bringing you a review and look at my summer Sephora Play! boxes.  Sephora Play! is another monthly subscription box with five samples of makeup, skincare, and/or haircare, and a fragrance sample.  The box is $10 a month.  The products are all items that Sephora carries, so they are easy to shop for if you decide you want a full-size product.  You can check out my first box from May here.

They currently have an on-going off again, on again Wait List.  You join the Wait List with your email address and will be notified via email when the list is open and you can sign up.  I have been really happy with this subscription so far.  Although I love each subscription I get for various reasons, right now I think Sephora is my favorite out of the three I am subscribed to (Birchbox, Ipsy, Sephora).

Let's get to reviewing!

Mini Road Trip: Columbia River Scenic Highway & Hood River, Oregon

 Mini Road Trip: Columbia River Scenic Highway & Hood River, Oregon - #pnw #pacificnorthwest #hoodriver #oregon #columbiariver #columbiariverscenichighway #roadtrip #travel #hoodriveror #portland #portlandor

I've been feeling really stifled and claustrophobic lately.  It makes me feel uninspired in creating blog posts, as well as frustrated, moody, and depressed.  The thing about blogging is, there is never any real break or vacation unless you make one.  And even then, I am constantly taking photos and writing down information for when I do blog about it.  I love sharing things with all of you via the blog, so I don't want to stop anytime soon.  But I've let a lot of the behind-the-scenes frustrations of it get in my head.  I was in desperate need of a breather.

On a Saturday a few weeks ago, when we were free of gatherings and responsibilities, Sean and I set out on a little day adventure to clear our heads.  We are fortunate enough to live in a gloriously beautiful part of the country.  I love being able to get out and view the mountains, trees, and river.  We've driven down the Columbia River Scenic Highway many times, but it never gets old.  The location of our wedding, McMenamins Edgefield in Troutdale, is near the start of the scenic byway.  Waterfalls, scenic viewpoints, and hiking trails can be found along this stretch of road.

We decided to drive along the Columbia River to Hood River, Oregon for the day, taking in the beautiful views and relaxing along the way.  The weather was a bit warm at the start, but we enjoyed every minute of it.  For your viewing pleasure (and in case you want to take a little trip yourselves), I present a photo diary of our trip.  Enjoy!

I'm attempting to keep up with my beauty box reviews.  I've had some really great samples, so I look forward to sharing my findings.  Today's post is an Ipsy review for July and August's bags.

If you are unfamiliar with Ipsy, it is a monthly subscription service.  For $10 a month, you get a cute reusable bag and five samples of various products that have been chosen to fit the monthly theme and your beauty profile.  Ipsy tends to carry more drugstore brands and makeup, with high-end brands mixed in here and there.  In comparison, Birchbox tends to focus on higher-end brands, with more skin and haircare items.

What I Wore: ASOS Curve Skater Dress Remix

Today, Hailey is remixing both this ASOS Curve Dress and American Rag denim vest for another summertime and transitioning into fall look. - #ASOS #ASOSCurve #Crocs #psblogger #plussizeblogger #styleblogger #plussizefashion #plussize #psootd #ootd #Spring #summer #fall #style #plussizeclothing #plussizecasual

Back in February, I showed you this ASOS Curve dress styled for the middle of winter with boots, leggings, and a jacket.  I've been wanting to wear it through the seasons, but just haven't had a chance to lately.  Over the weekend, I pulled the dress out for running around town, finally having a chance to style it for warmer weather.

I received a lot of compliments from total strangers while I was out running errands. This look is very simple, but people really gravitated to it.

In The Fitting Room: JCPenney (Ashley Nell Tipton Boutique+ Collection) + Bonus Stops: Maurices, Lane Bryant, Dressbarn

 Today on the blog, Hailey's trying on styles from JCPenney's Boutique+ and Ashley Nell Tipton collections, with little stops at Lane Bryant, Maurices, and Dressbarn thrown into the mix. - #JCpenney #Boutique+ #AshleyNellTipton #LaneBryant #lanestyle #Maurices #Dressbarn #fittingroom #plussizefittingroom #psblogger #plussizeblogger #styleblogger #plussizefashion #plussize #psootd #fall #style #plussizecasual

Last weekend after my hair appointment, I had a few free hours, so I ventured over to JCPenney to try on some clothing.  Project Runway winner Ashley Nell Tipton just launched a collection for JCPenney's Boutique+ line.  Seeing the designs online and in the behind-the-scenes videos shared on JCP's Youtube channel, I knew I needed to go in and check out the pieces in person.

Of course, my local store didn't have every piece in stock, but I grabbed what I could.  These pieces are very affordable, with JCP running promotions and sales quite often.  They feel well-made and fit true-to-size, bordering on being more generously cut, on me. Sizes range from 16 to 30. Prices range from $20 to $125 and are even cheaper during sales and with added promotions.

On Tuesday, I went out with my mother-in-law to just spend the day together.  We ended up stopping into a variety of stores.  As a little bonus for you, I have included a few items from Maurices, Dressbarn, and Lane Bryant that I tried on throughout the day. Enjoy!

Ask Me Anything: Questions Answered!

From skincare to makeup recommendations to shapewear, shopping online, blogging, and more, Hailey answers reader questions in today's blog post! - #makeup #eyebrows #psblogger #plussizefashion #beauty #skincare #shapewear

At the end of July, I asked all of you for questions you wanted me to answer in a future blog post.  I've been gathering the submissions this month and, boy, you guys had some great ones!  In today's post, I am answering some of the questions I received.

You all can continue sending in queries to your heart's content.  Shoot me an email, leave a question on social media, or look over in the sidebar.  There is a link that says "Ask Me Anything" (right below my photo and stats) that allows you to leave anonymous questions if you so desire.  As I collect more questions, I can answer them in future posts.

What I Wore: Hakuna Matata

In today's post, Hailey remixed this dotted print Apt. 9 High-Low Dress from Kohl's, perfect for a hot summer day or night- #highlow #Apt9 #Kohls #Crocs #psblogger #plussizeblogger #styleblogger #plussizefashion #plussize #psootd #ootd #plussizeclothing #outfit #spring #summer #style #plussizecasual #charmingcharlie

Sean and I joined some friends to go see The Lion King Broadway show recently.  I saw it with my friend Nigel eleven or twelve years ago, right before I met Sean.  So I've been telling Sean how much he needs to see this show for the past eleven years.  You can imagine how excited we both were that he finally got the chance to see it!

And it didn't disappoint.  If you ever get the chance to check it out, I highly recommend it.  The costumes and music are superb.  The cast is beautiful and talented.  I just love it so much!

Today's post is another look at this Apt. 9 dress from Kohl's that I purchased at the beginning of May.  I have featured two prints of this dress on the blog before (here and here) and am so glad I purchased them.  I went with turquoise as a complimentary color this time around. Enjoy!

What I Wore: Brains Beauty Booty

In today's post, Hailey reviews the Brains Beauty Booty Tee from Torrid and Ava and Viv Utility Vest from Target. - #Torrid #TorridInsider #fitflops #AvaandViv #Target #psblogger #plussizeblogger #styleblogger #plussizefashion #plussize #psootd #ootd #Spring #summer #fall #style #plussizeclothing #plussizecasual

I've been doing really well in sticking to my monthly shopping budget.  I over-analyze anything I want to buy and try to make sure it fills some void in my wardrobe.  While this vest fits into that category, Sean and I both knew I needed to get this tee no matter what.

In today's post, I review this graphic tee from Torrid and vest from Target, both newly acquired items that are still available online.

Reviewing Kiyonna's Florence Flair Halter Top + Styled 4 Ways

 In today's post, Hailey reviews the Florence Flair Halter Top from Kiyonna and styles it four ways, showcasing this tops versatility by utilizing a variety of denim styles. - #Kiyonna #KiyonnaStyle #KiyonnaPlusYou #CrocsSandal #Crocs #CharmingCharlie #lanebryant #lanestyle #eShakti #psblogger #plussizeblogger #styleblogger #plussizefashion #plussize #psootd #ootd #plussizeclothing #outfit #spring #summer #fall #style #plussizecasual #haltertop #denim #chambray #datenight

"I can never wear a halter top."

That was a stupid self-inflicted rule I had for myself for...I don't know how long.  I am sure someone told me my shoulders were too broad to wear that neckline, because that is always what I told myself.  Now, I always tell y'all to JUST TRY THINGS ON - and I mean it.  I can't very well preach it if I don't practice it.  Part of the fun of having the blog, of loving fashion, of sharing with all of you, is the opportunity to try new things and push my boundaries.

I saw the Florence Flair Halter Top in Kiyonna's Summer Lookbook (sizes 10-32) and knew I needed to push my comfort zone and try it on.  I was first drawn to the vibrant magenta hue, but the sexy neckline really intrigued me.  Today's post is a review of this top, plus I style it four ways with an array of denim. Also, I found a new location to shoot some of the photos, which I am super excited about!

Introducing LOC Makeup Brand + Swatches

 Introducing LOC Makeup Brand + Swatches - #birchbox #LOC #LoveofColor #makeup #makeupaddict #swatch #beauty #lipstick #eyeshadow

I've been a long-time subscriber to Birchbox.  Last year, they started introducing smaller house brands like LOC and Arrow.  If Arrow is Mary Ann, LOC is definitely Ginger.  (If you are too young to get that reference, please google Gilligan's Island.)

LOC stands for Love of Color and offers curated collections of vibrant, on-trend hues each season.  The paraben-free and cruelty-free formulas available right now are shadow sticks, matte lipstick, and ultra-gloss lip pencils.  Each product comes in an easy to carry size with an affordable price point.  I've become a huge fan of the brand and wanted to take a moment to talk about the products and show you swatches.

FYI - You don't have to be a Birchbox subscriber to buy from the shop.  You can make purchases and earn Rewards Points from those purchases.  If you want to sign up for a monthly Birchbox, you can use my referral code, if you like.

What I Wore: Coral Jeggings

 In today's post, Hailey reviews these coral jeggings from Maurices, with a look at taking them from summer to fall. - #Maurices #Torrid #TorridInsider #Crocs #AvaandViv #Target #psblogger #plussizeblogger #styleblogger #plussizefashion #plussize #psootd #ootd #Spring #summer #fall #style #plussizeclothing #plussizecasual #jeggings

I've been on the lookout for coral jeans for quite a while.  Torrid had some this spring/summer, but they were the ankle jean style.  A few years ago, I had zero luck with the ankle jeans fitting over my calves.  I just never had time to go to my local Torrid store to try them on and get a take on the current fit.  A couple weeks ago, I saw that Maurices had a pair of coral jeggings on clearance, so I went ahead and snatched them up.

In today's post, I am reviewing the jeggings and showing you a couple of looks to help you transition from summer to fall.

House Tour: The Dressing Room Remix - Details

 Take a look at the details of Hailey's newly reorganized dressing room, her sparkly happy place! - #homedecor #DIY #glitter #glitterpaint #homestyle #glitterdresser #dressingroom #closet #hometour #dressingroomtour

In a continuation of last week's post that featured an overview of my newly cleaned and organized dressing room, this week I am showing you the little details.  You can take a look at last week's post for more of the layout of the room and for zoomed-out looks at the areas featured.

In today's post, I am zooming in and talking about how I organized, DIY projects, art work, and all that good stuff.  I'm going to try to keep links in the captions for each photo in an effort to keep things a bit more streamlined.  This is a picture heavy post, just FYI.  As always, if I left something out or you have a question, leave a comment or email me any time!  Enjoy this closer look at my happy place!

House Tour: The Dressing Room Remix - Overview

 Take a tour of Hailey's newly reorganized dressing room, her sparkly happy place! - #homedecor #DIY #glitter #glitterpaint #homestyle #glitterdresser #dressingroom #closet #hometour #dressingroomtour

I'm so excited to finally share this post with you!!

We bought our house and moved in back in 2013.  I was so grateful we found a place that met most of our list of wants and needs.  I had long been dreaming of one day having a house where I could have my own girly room to house my clothing and makeup and trinkets.  As renters, I did have a room for this stuff, but it was all piled around makeshift storage because we couldn't make my vision a reality.

I've previously shown you the process of painting the room in the pale pink and glittery fuchsia I chose for the walls.  And I've also walked you through the room all done up, in both picture and video form (with me acting like a silly goober. You should check it out for a laugh. haha).  A lot has changed since then.  As the blog grew, so did my closet and my need for more storage options and space.  (Yes, I totally need to clean things out now and have a big sale.)  After a couple years of searching for the right dresser for extra storage, we have finally gotten that ready and moved in.  You can check out the tutorial for painting the dresser here.  I spent all last week reorganizing the room so I could share this Dressing Room Remix with you. Enjoy!

What I Wore: Livin' La Vida Leisure

 Hailey is livin' la vida leisure in this soft active hoodie from Lane Bryant, deconstructed capris, and casual Crocs skimmers. - #LaneBryant #Crocs #psblogger #plussizeblogger #styleblogger #plussizefashion #plussize #psootd #ootd #Spring #summer #style #plussizeclothing #plussizecasual #hoodie #knockaround #torrid #birchbox

As you know, I am a casual girl at heart.  While I greatly enjoy getting dolled up no matter the occasion, I greatly prefer being more dressed down and comfortable in jeans and a cute top.  I do my best to sprinkle in fun colors, sparkles, and girly elements to the look no matter what though.  The weather and my state-of-mind as of late have kept me in very simple, comfortable pieces without much fuss.

In today's post I'm sharing a look I wore this weekend for running errands.  We had so much to do that day, but we ended up being so tired that we only ran half our errands and popped over to the mom-in-law's house for dinner.  I really loved this look for its simplicity and comfort.  I felt very cute and got lots of compliments from strangers as I did my shopping.

{Crafting Diva} How To: DIY Glittery Painted Dresser

How To: Painting a silver and pink glittery dresser from start to finish, using Rust-Oleum Glitter Spray, Valspar paint in Cabaret, and Valspar Paint Crystals. - #homedecor #DIY #tutorial #howto #paint #dresser #glitter #glitterpaint #ikea #homestyle #glitterdresser #valspar #rustoleum

Finally!  My dresser is painted, moved into the room, and everything is in its place!  All last week, I worked on reorganizing and cleaning my dressing room to accommodate its new resident.  We initially bought an unfinished dresser from Ikea as part of a birthday gift for me.  I had a few ideas about how I wanted to paint the dresser, so I debated about that before making a final decision.  Then the weather got unpredictable and we were crazy busy.

Sean and I hosted Bunco at our house in July, which became the fast approaching deadline for needing the dresser to be done and out of the living room.  It was finally finished the night before.  If you follow me on Instagram, you are sure to have seen some peeks at the dresser already.  In today's post, I wanted to give a little tutorial on what we did and show you the result.  Then on Friday, I will take you on a little tour of my newly organized dressing room.

Ask Me Anything!

This summer has been so much busier than I had anticipated.  I was hoping I could have the dressing room all done up for a post this week, but sadly I do not.  I have been busy at work trying to reorganize and clean since we finally finished painting my new dresser and moved it into the room over the weekend.  It looks amazing and I am super excited to share it with you!!  I am just bummed it won't be this week.

I wanted to take this opportunity to start collecting questions for a future post.  If you have anything you want to ask me (nothing is too big or too small) on any topic, leave the question in the comment or email me.  Once I gather some questions I will answer them in a post.  Thanks, y'all!

I hope everyone has a lovely, fun, and safe weekend!

Ipsy Bag - May and June 2016

 Ipsy Bags for May and June 2016 - #Ipsy #IpsyGlamBag #beautybag #beautybox #subscription #beautysubscription #makeup #haircare #skincare #Noyah #TrustFundBeauty #lipgasmlipstick #BeABombshell #MarcAnthony #formulaX #nailpolish #urbandecay #crownbrush #smashbox #organicpharmacy #slmissglam #bellapierre #evanyc

It has been quite a while since I posted an Ipsy review.  Mainly, time gets away from me because I like to try all the products first.  Before I know it, I am way behind on posting about recent bags and that just snowballs.  So now, I am going to do two bags in one post, whether I have used all the products or not.  Hopefully, I can get backlogged posts done because I like the idea of cleaning out my stock of photos I have taken of all my bags/boxes.  We shall see.

If you are unfamiliar with Ipsy, it is a monthly subscription service.  For $10 a month, you get a cute reusable bag and five samples of various products that have been chosen to fit the monthly theme and your beauty profile.  Ipsy tends to carry more drugstore brands, with high-end brands mixed in here and there.  In comparison, Birchbox tends to focus on higher end brands.  Both of these boxes have a mix of skincare, haircare, makeup, fragrance, and nail polish.  I also started getting the Sephora Play box, which also has a mix of products (mostly makeup) and focuses on the higher end brands that Sephora carries.

Reviewing Kiyonna's Moroccan Maxi Wrap Dress

Hailey is staying summer chic in the Moroccan Maxi Wrap Dress by Kiyonna. Fit tips and details on the blog! - #Kiyonna #KiyonnaStyle #KiyonnaPlusYou #CrocsSandal #Crocs #CharmingCharlie #psblogger #plussizeblogger #styleblogger #plussizefashion #plussize #psootd #ootd #plussizeclothing #outfit #spring #summer #fall #style #plussizecasual #maxi #maxidress #wrapdress

It is no secret that I love Kiyonna!  I've been a member of their Blogger Brigade since 2012, which has given me the opportunity to try many styles and silhouettes from the brand.  They carry sizes 10 to 32 and continue to offer wonderful quality pieces time and time again.  You can check out their 2016 Summer Lookbook for an exciting peek at what is to come in the next month or so!

In today's post, I am reviewing a hybrid of two classic styles - a maxi and a wrap dress.  Wrap dresses just won me over in the last year or so (after trying some from Kiyonna, of course).  It is a classic for a reason. Easy to wear, easy to throw on, easy for work, easy for play, easy for looking polished without too much fuss.  And of course, my love for maxi dresses runs deep!  Read on for fit and details on this gorgeous, chevron-printed maxi wrap dress from Kiyonna!

What I Wore: Summer Ready!

Hailey is sprortin' a simple, laid-back look for staying cool and chic in the summer or on vacation! - #KiyonnaStyle #TorridInsider #Torrid #LaneBryant #Crocs #psblogger #plussizeblogger #styleblogger #plussizefashion #plussize #psootd #ootd #Spring #summer #style #plussizeclothing #plussizecasual #plussizeshorts #coldshoulder

We haven't had the most summer-like weather lately.  It's mostly been cloudy and raining off and on, which I am totally fine with.  I like sunny days that are breezy and fine, but I don't like hot, stifling, sweaty days.  Today, and for the foreseeable future (aka the 10 day forecast), the weather is warming up.  I'm ready to face it in shorts and knit and sandals.  Today's post contains some recent purchases styled together for a look that is summer and vacation ready.

My First Sephora Play! Beauty Bag (May 2016)

 Sephora Play! Beauty Bag (May 2016), featuring products by Origins, Korres, Briogeo, Bite Beauty, Tarte, and Atelier Cologne. - #Sephora #SephoraPlay #beautybag #beautybox #subscription #beautysubscription #makeup #haircare #skincare #Origins #Korres #Briogeo #BiteBeauty #AtelierCologne #tarte

Y'all know by now that I am a makeup/beauty product junkie.  I love trying new things and being aware of the newest products.  Sampling products through beauty subscription boxes has led me to find some seriously great products that work well for me.  But I am always curious.  While I have been subscribed to Birchbox and Ipsy for years now (and have seriously dropped the ball in posting about them on the blog like I initially intended), I was excited when Sephora finally got me off the Wait List for their Play! subscription box.

Read on for details on my first box....

What I Wore: Wine About It

Comfort is key when doing an all-day wine tour! Hailey is wearing the Kiyonna Promenade Top, Catherines Girlfriend Jeans, and Anna Ankle Strap Sandals by Crocs. - #KiyonnaStyle #Kiyonna #KiyonnaPlusYou #LaneBryant #catherines #catherinesstyle #Crocs #psblogger #plussizeblogger #styleblogger #plussizefashion #plussize #psootd #ootd #Spring #summer #style #plussizeclothing #plussizecasual

Last week I posted about the fun wine tour my friends and I went on recently.  Last year during our tour, the weather was pretty warm.  I was thrilled that it was much more mild this year, but it is still an event you want to dress comfy for.  Between being out for eight hours and hopping in and out of a van, I require pants and comfort for my wine tour outfit.  Today's post has pieces I have talked about previously, just worn together for the first time.

Our 2nd Annual Wine Tour in Oregon's Willamette Valley

Hailey and friends took their 2nd annual wine tour in Oregon's Willamette Valley. See where they went in today's blog post. - #backcountrywinetours #winetour #portland #portlandor #oregon #willamettevalley #stoller #argyle #maysara #brooks #winery

My friend Nigel and I have birthdays a couple weeks apart.  Last year, we decided to gather some friends together for a wine tour in celebration instead of having separate birthday parties.  It was something we talked about doing for a few years, so we were very happy to finally plan it all out.  I talked about our day trip tasting wines last year on the blog.  We had such a fantastic time that we immediately planned to do it all again this year.

What I Wore: Black and Blue

Another look with a different printed summer dress from Kohl's! Hailey is wearing the Apt. 9 Printed High-Low Hem Dress and Crocs Anna Ankle Strap Gladiator Sandal. - #highlow #Apt9 #Kohls #CrocsSandal #Crocs #psblogger #plussizeblogger #styleblogger #plussizefashion #plussize #psootd #ootd #plussizeclothing #outfit #spring #summer #style #plussizecasual

A couple weeks ago, Sean and I ventured out to a friend's award ceremony and celebratory dinner afterwards.  I am so proud of my friend Felis.  She received a prestigious racial justice award celebrating her accomplishments in teaching and advocating on many racial and social justice issues.  It was so wonderful to see her being honored and to see all the love and praise given to her and her accomplishments.

I knew I wanted to be a little more dressed up for the occasion, so I pulled out my other Apt. 9 Kohl's dress that I hadn't worn yet.  I know some of you bought your own after seeing my posts.  I am so happy that you all are loving this dress as much as I do.  Yes, I styled it pretty much the same way, but I thought I would share with y'all anyway.  When a dress can combine comfort, cuteness, and versatility, I want to tell you about it as much as possible.

In The Fitting Room: Kohl's

 Hailey's trying on styles from Kohl's today on the blog. - #Kohls #fittingroom #plussizefittingroom #psblogger #plussizeblogger #styleblogger #plussizefashion #plussize #psootd #SpringStyle #SummerStyle #plussizecasual

I've been on a fitting room roll lately.  Thank you all for inspiring me and motivating me to just go get to it!  After my positive and impromptu birthday trip to Kohl's (and your positive reactions to the dresses I bought), I decided to go back and try on as many things as I could.  Today's post is all about my fitting room adventure and first impressions of the things I tried.  Enjoy!

What I Wore: Southwest By Northwest

 Hailey combats the heat in this Embroidered Challis Sundress from Torrid. - #TorridInsider #Torrid #CrocsSandal #Crocs #YoursClothing #psblogger #plussizeblogger #styleblogger #plussizefashion #plussize #psootd #ootd #plussizeclothing #outfit #spring #summer #style #plussizecasual

The weekend before last was over 100 degrees.  Of course, I had plans (and thus had to leave the house) on the hottest friggin' day.  Luckily, my scheduled activities were indoor ones, but the heat still makes me cranky.  I decided to bust out my newest sundress for staying cool and cute in the dastardly weather.  You may remember this dress from a recent fitting room post.  I now present it to you styled and functional. I stood out in the horrible heat to get these photos for you guys, so ah, you're welcome! hahaha :-P  I wouldn't do it for just anybody.

At Home Fitting Room: Pajamas, Activewear, Panties, Lingerie, Swimwear

In today's reader requested post, Hailey talks review and fit of pajamas, activewear, swimwear, lingerie, and panties from her own wardrobe. - #LaneBryant #Torrid #TorridInsider #OldNavy #HipsandCurves #fittingroom #plussizefittingroom #psblogger #plussizeblogger #styleblogger #plussizefashion #plussize #psootd #activewear #pajamas #swimwear #lingerie #panties #plussizecasual

Today's post is another installment of At Home Fitting Room.  This is where I try on things I have bought and tell you all about them.  Some of these pieces are a little older (like Christmas clearance) and a lot are rather new.  In fact, most of these are still available on the various websites.  I still wanted to show you things that aren't available because the stores I buy from usually come out with various versions of a style throughout the year.  So even if something isn't available, I hope it still helps you with figuring out fit.

I have the items divided into categories: Pajamas, Activewear, Swimwear, Lingerie, and Panties.  You guys wanted to know about cute options, so I went for it.  I've sprinkled extra information throughout on additional styles I love and gravitate towards.  As always, if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.  Let's get to it!

What I Wore: Reviewing Kiyonna's Twirling In Tulle Skirt

Hailey celebrated her 8th wedding anniversary in COLOR and reviews the Kiyonna Twirling In Tulle Skirt in Melon Marvel on the blog! - #KiyonnaStyle #Kiyonna #KiyonnaPlusYou #Torrid #TorridInsider #charmingcharlie #dressbarn #catherines #catherinesstyle #sofft #psblogger #plussizeblogger #styleblogger #plussizefashion #plussize #psootd #SpringStyle #weddingstyle #summerstyle #whattoweartoawedding #tulleskirt

Hello, everyone!  I hope you all had a wonderful weekend.  I cannot believe it is June already!  Sean and I just celebrated our 8th wedding anniversary on May 31st.  As we love to do, we went back to the location of our nuptials, McMenamins Edgefield.  Edgefield is a fun place with a wonderful restaurant, pub, bars, winery, golf course, distillery, hotel, concert lawn, gardens, glass-blower and potter, spa and salon, etc.  There is always something to do.  It has become quite a popular destination for folks.

I wanted to wear something festive and special for the evening.  What says special more than a poofy tulle skirt?  Kiyonna sent me the Twirling In Tulle skirt in their latest color, Melon Marvel.  In today's post, I am reviewing this skirt and loading you up with photos of my colorful, celebratory outfit.  I loved this look and how the photos turned out, I just couldn't narrow it down any more.  Enjoy!
