What I Wore: A Little Fancy (Kiyonna Shimmer Circle Skirt Remix)

Hey, y'all!  I hope you had a fantastic holiday weekend and are gearing up for a celebratory New Year's Eve!  We had a fantastic Christmas with the mom-in-law and added tons of snuggles with Finnegan over the weekend.  While we planned to get a lot of chores done, by Sunday we were so exhausted.  Sean played his Star Wars Battlefront video game while I colored in one of those detailed adult coloring books my mom-in-law gave me for Christmas.  It was a much needed relaxing day.

Anyway, I am back with another look at this Shimmer Circle Skirt from Kiyonna.  In thinking of its versatility and use beyond the holidays, I showed you a more casual styling featuring this skirt.  While the previous look is more typical of how I will continue to wear it throughout the year, I wanted to take the opportunity to show you a dressier option.  This skirt is still available in most sizes in silver and in red.

Happy Holidays 2015!

Ah, the best laid plans....

So much for being a productive blogger this week.  Hopefully, you are all having festive fun with friends, family, and loved ones! I just wanted to post a note thanking you all for reading the blog, commenting, chatting, and just generally being a supportive bunch of online friends.  This year has been an exciting one for Discourse of a Divine Diva, so I am looking forward to what the new year brings.

This year, we decided to do something different for our Christmas cards.  Instead of dressing up in something silly, we opted for a custom drawn greeting card by Len Peralta.  He's a great artist that has also done a drawing of our dog Rusty and a headshot drawing of me that I've used as an online avatar.  We love his work and his love of geek culture.

We asked him to draw myself and Sean in our Han Solo and Chewbacca costumes, except Sean wanted to be full Wookie.  So without further ado, I present you with our 2015 holiday card art:

I've also been busy because we got a new dog!  After a year of being dogless, we finally felt it was the right time to go look at the humane society and bring a baby home as a family gift to ourselves.  It was emotional and overwhelming the first time on Saturday.  We were pretty upset, so we left.

We went back on Sunday, but I sat in the car for twenty minutes crying because I was overwhelmed again, missing our old furkids, and didn't know if we were ready for another one yet.  I was a mess.  But I sucked it up and went inside.  When we saw him, he was cowering in the back of his kennel like the day before, but looked like he really wanted to come say hi to us.  We stood there talking to him and saying hello, then Sean bent down and put his fingers up to the kennel door.  He immediately came over to be petted.  We met him and held him and knew we had to have him.  How can you resist that sweet face?!?  Meet Finnegan, the newest member of our family!

He's a 1-year-old Pomeranian Chihuahua mix with a really mellow and sweet personality.  He reminds me a lot of my Kiki.  He's young and needs to learn some things, but these first three days with him have been pretty good.

What are you doing for the holidays?  Did you get any major gifts yet?  What are you most looking forward to this Christmas?  I wish you all a spectacular holiday and happy new year!!!

PS - If you are alone this holiday or have a shitty family you can't be around to save your sanity, know you are not alone and that you are loved.

Makeup Stash: Colourpop Swatches - Fall 2015, Creme Gel Liners, and Holiday 2015

As you know by now, I am a huge fan of Colourpop!  I've talked about them on the blog before and continue to order from them as they introduce new items my makeup junkie heart feels the need to acquire.  It has been a busy last half of the year, so I have now amassed quite the collection of items to show you.  The Fall 2015 collection was a nod to the 90s, while the Boogie Nights Holiday 2015 collection was more reminiscent of the 70s.  The Creme Gel Liners became a new product for the company in potted and liner form.  I have been extremely pleased with every purchase that I have made from the brand and always encourage my friends to check them out.  The products are extremely affordable ($5 to $8), but are quality products that stay on and look great all day.

What I Wore: Holiday Ready

Happy Holidays, everyone!  It is really hard to believe it is mid-December already.  I am still trying to desperately catch up to everything at home since being back from our September road trip and Thanksgiving trip to visit my sister.  There is just never enough time to catch up to everything, it seems.  I start to feel extremely frustrated, which also hinders my ability to enjoy the warm glow of the holidays.

Keeping up with personal traditions helps ground me and keep me focused.  Again this year, Sean and I joined our friend Nigel in attending the Festival of Trees in Portland.  It is usually the first holiday event we attend in December and can help set a festive tone.  Continuing in the post, I review this cheery but casual ensemble and show you some of the holiday cheer from this year's festival.

Cheers! Let's Celebrate the Holidays!

Cheers! Let's Celebrate the Holidays! - A Cozy Game Night In (Food and Drinks) - DivineMrsDiva.com #YoursClothing #outfit #psootd #ootd #plussizefashion #plussizeholiday #gamenight #holidaydecor #Christmas #party

Hi, everyone!  I'm back from vacation and looking forward to getting back into a posting schedule.  I had a great time with my sister and so much fun exploring Savannah!  Last year, Liz, Nina, and I teamed up to create virtual holiday parties - from outfits and decor to food, drinks, and more!  This year, we've teamed up again for our virtual party blog hop and included our pal Janeane.

We've each selected a theme for our shindigs, this time with festive outfits provided by Yours Clothing. Janeane of Designing From My Closet is hosting a 40s Glam Outdoor Party.  Liz of With Wonder and Whimsy delights with a Black and White Dessert Party, while Nina of Curvy Mod is throwing a Cocktail Potluck!  I encourage you to pop into their events and say hello.

My party post from last year was much more glam and luxury.  This year, I wanted to plan something a bit more laid-back and true to what I actually do - a game night with friends.  Read on for a review of my outfit, tasty recipes, decor inspiration, and more!
