What I Wore: Wine Tasting in Comfort

Hailey is wearing the Soft Cargo Pant from Lane Bryant, Striped tee from Avenue, and Flare Thongs by FitFlops. - DivineMrsDiva.com #lanebryant

I've spent my morning today in a rare burst of productivity.  I managed to fold laundry from five different loads, run two more loads of my clothing and hang those to dry, start the dishwasher, distribute supplements into my vitamin container, make breakfast, and get dinner going in the slow cooker.  It may sound like a typical Tuesday evening to some of you, especially to those of you who have kids, but I was pleasantly surprised by my burst of energy.  I have more good days than bad days since my thyroid surgery, but the productive days always surprise me.  I'm too hard on myself sometimes.

So I'm just gonna think about my leisure day of wine tasting with friends.  I talked about the day trip on the blog last week, and this week I can focus on my outfit!

Star Wars Inspired

Star Wars Inspired: Hailey took inspiration from Han Solo and Princess Leia to create wearable looks inspired by these characters and costumes. - DivineMrsDiva.com

I'm really excited about today's post!  Janeane of Designing From My Closet and I teamed up to celebrate our love of Star Wars!  For our collaboration, we each chose a look or two from characters from the movies and used those costumes to inspire real-life looks.  I've been obsessed with Star Wars for as long as I can remember.  As an eight-year-old, Return of the Jedi was my absolute favorite movie ever.  I watched it countless times, even pouring over a storybook that outlines the entire plot of the movie.  Certainly, I loved the Ewoks and was smitten with Luke Skywalker, but there were so many other aspects of the film that drew me in.

Wine Tasting in Oregon's Willamette Valley

Wine Tasting in Oregon's Willamette Valley with Backroads Wine Tours - DivineMrsDiva.com

My friend Nigel and I graciously share our birthday month of May with each other.  It is really an excuse to do as many fun things in one month as we possible can while blaming it on our birthdays.  This year, because Sean and I are trying to save money for our fall trips, we decided not to throw me a birthday party and kept it low key.  Because Nigel also didn't have a party planned this year, we thought about looking into a wine tasting tour.  It is something that has been on our mutual "To Do" lists for a while and something we've talked about planning for a few years.

What I Wore: Anniversary Dinner

Hailey is wearing a Torrid Embroidered Flutter Sleeve Dress and Nine West Seahorse Sandals. - DivineMrsDiva.com #Torrid #TorridInsider

As you may remember, Sean and I celebrated our seventh wedding anniversary on May 31st.  Per tradition, we like to go back to the hotel/winery/golf course/brewery/restaurant/distillery where we were married and have dinner.  Sometimes we stay overnight and hang out in the garden where we got engaged, sipping wine and reminiscing and taking tons of pictures.  Because we are planning two trips this fall, we are trying hard to rein in the spending.  So this year was just dinner; and it was so tasty!

This is the first time I've worn white in a long, long time.  I just never thought it looked that good on me.  My wedding dress wasn't even white - it was champagne-hued.  So imagine my surprise when I tried this dress on a whim and loved it so much that I just had to have it!  My mother-in-law bought it for me for my birthday and I've been so excited to finally wear it!

Makeup Stash: ColourPop Swatchfest!

ColourPop Swatchfest: Super Shock Eyeshadows, Super Shock Cheek Blushes, Highlighters, and Lippie Stix - DivineMrsDiva.com

I've been meaning to do more and more Colourpop swatch posts as I have added to my collection in the last six months or so.  But every time I was ready to post about a recent order, I had another order on the way and decided to wait.  I am a total makeup junkie and definitely a huge fan of Colourpop.  In a previous post, I reviewed the brand and swatched the ten eyeshadows and three lip pencils and lippie stix that I owned at the time.  You can check that post for more about the brand and formulas, but I think it is a testament to how much I like them that I now own twenty-two shadows, eight lippie stix, five blushes, and three highlighters. (They also now carry bronzers as well.)  At $5 to $8 each, this brand is extremely affordable for quality products that provide long wear and great pigmentation.  This post is not affiliated with or sponsored by Colourpop in any way.  I just wanted to take the time to share my stash and swatch my Colourpop collection at present.  Check out all the pretties below:

What I Wore: A Scoop of Sorbet

Hailey is wearing the Catherines Sorbet Maxi Dress and Staple Shrug, and Isotoner Pippa Sandals. - DivineMrsDiva.com

During one of my recent shopping trips to Catherines, prior to my run as their May Style Ambassador, I tried on lots of dresses in various styles and colors.  While I found a ton of items I thought were fabulous, I was still drawn to the maxis more than anything.  Maxis have been a common recurrence on the blog lately as I've posted four in the last month.  But I mean it when I say that they are a summer staple and an easy way to look pulled together, stylish, and feel comfortable with very little effort.

What I Wore: Maxi-mum Style (Sartorial Medley)

Hailey is wearing the Kiyonna Jetsetter Maxi Skirt, SWAK Designs Amber Shrug, and Isotoner Pippa Sandal. - DivineMrsDiva.com #Kiyonna #SartorialMedley

Last weekend, Sean and I headed out to Battle Ground for the 3rd birthday of my cousin's adorable daughter, Stella.  Lewisville Park is really gorgeous, with tall shady trees, trails, and a river.  I remember the first time I visited the park when I moved from Georgia to Washington State almost 18 years ago. (The longest I have ever lived anywhere - ever.)  I could not believe the water was so clear!  But I digress....

The day of Stella's party was set to be a hot, hot day.  Anytime I want to be cool and look put together, I love to break out a trusty maxi skirt or dress.  This month's Sartorial Medley theme is all about maxi skirts and dresses (find out how to participate in this month's theme at the end of this post).  Kiyonna recently sent me their new Jetsetter Maxi Skirt in this vibrant tie-dye print, so I jumped at the chance to wear it on this super-hot day.

Photo Journal: The Main Event Tour: NKOTB, TLC, & Nelly (Tacoma, WA)

The Main Event Tour 2015: NKOTB (Tacoma, WA) - DivineMrsDiva.com

At the beginning of May, Sean and I drove the short distance north to Tacoma, Washington for the New Kids On The Block concert.  If you've been reading my blog for any period of time, you probably know by now that I have been a New Kids fan for 27 years.  Obviously, they mean a lot to me.  I was never allowed to go to a concert when I was a kid, so I've been making up for lost time since the 2008 reunion.  Happily, I have now seen them in concert ten times and physically watched their documentary with them.  This year we actually lucked out and found front row seats!!

Now that May has moved into June, my super busy time of year is calming down just a little.  I finally had time to sift through photos and get some ready for the blog.  Today's post features what I wore for the New Kids On The Block concert at the beginning of May.  Sean and I took a short road trip up to Tacoma, Washington for the show. It's also a great opportunity for me to review my new pair of sandals!  Don't miss tomorrow's post with fun concert photos!

What I Wore: Summer Rainbow

Hailey is wearing the Dressbarn Multi-Color Textured Pullover and Lane Bryant Genius Fit Bermuda Shorts. - DivineMrsDiva.com

It is hot, hot, hot here this week!! (And has been off and on for a few weeks now.)  I can't say that I am a fan of the heat.  My perfect weather is 70 and mildly sunny with a cool breeze and zero humidity. lol  But I've already had to pull out the shorts and took the opportunity to style a fun summer outfit.

What I Wore: Jeans and a T-Shirt

Hailey is wearing the Floral Modal Scoop Tee and Genius Fit Dark Wash Crops - both from Lane Bryant. - DivineMrsDiva.com

Sometimes Most of the time, I just need a basic, comfortable, non-fussy outfit that allows me to run around town and hang out with friends.  Back before I was a more confident version of myself, I lived in jeans, some kind of tee or tank, and a velour hoodie.  I got in a deep rut with only wearing versions of that outfit.  I don't know if it is because I felt less than at that time in my life, or if my uniform of that time just made me feel less than, but I have been fearful of getting stuck back in that rut anytime I wear jeans and a t-shirt.  Occasionally, with travel or errands or to combat the weather, I have to go with the classic combo.
