I have so many Gwynnie Bee-related outfit photos waiting to be shared with you. I cannot believe it is June already. Time has flown by!! June is not *quite* as crazy as May was, so I am hoping to get some more looks out each week. Today, I talk about this Melissa Masse dress via Gwynnie Bee. This is my first time trying the Melissa Masse brand; and I was really happy with the overall look.
First things first, I am 5'9" and my measurements are 52/50/59. I received this dress in a 3X, which I added to my closet based on the size chart and opinion of how this style of dress would fit. I should have tried a 4X instead. While it did fit, the arms, back, and middle tummy area were just a bit tight. It didn't make this dress uncomfortable at all, but I felt a bit self-conscious of the way it hugged me. Still, I am not wearing any shapewear with it in these photos, so I think the 4X will be a great fit.
As I mentioned, this is my first time trying the Melissa Masse brand. It is a designer brand carrying classic silhouettes in really fun prints. I love when a designer uses lots of colors and patterns in their designs. Melissa was a graduate of Parsons School of Design, going on to design for Donna Karen and Richard Tyler before starting her own company in 2000.
The dress itself is really well-made. The fabric is a weighty poly/spandex blend that offers some stretch for a comfy fit and hangs in a lovely way. There is also a velvety trim in dark green/teal along the neckline and at the sleeves. This dress is definitely not for the summer months. The fabric is thick and really warm, so it is definitely more of a fall and winter frock. It made me feel very sophisticated and sexy though, which is always a good thing. I'll be sure to post about the bigger size when/if I receive it.
I kept the accessories really simple for this one. I didn't want to crowd the gorgeous plaid print. The wide belt is great for my proportions and the blue necklace compliments the blue and green plaid beautifully. These shoes are a clearance buy from JCPenney. I just bought them to wear in the house for looking sexy from time to time. The 11 fits well, but they are not very comfortable at all. I always worry I am going to break my ankle, so you will never see me wearing them around town. lol
