What I Wore: Winter Roses

What I Wore: Winter Roses - Torrid Striped and Floral Dress and Lace Hoodie Cardigan, Avenue Boots, Charming Charlie Olivia Crossbody -

Last weekend, I had the opportunity to enter a modeling call for a local store.  I haven't done anything like that before and thought it would be a fun experience.  Deciding what to wear, however, was really tough.  Not only did I want something cute for this model contest, but I had a super busy day of getting my hair done, running errands, and going to Bunco, with little time in between for any kind of costume change.

Ipsy Bag Review: December 2014 & January 2015

Ipsy is a monthly box subscription service ($10 a month) that sends you about five samples and/or full-size products that could be makeup, skin care, hair care, or nail care in a cute little bag that fits the theme of the month.  Based on your answers to a short Beauty Quiz, you are sent the best products for you geared towards your skin tone, hair color, eye color, and other beauty concerns.  You earn points by reviewing the products and those points can be redeemed for selected items.

December's theme was "Thinking of You".

Ipsy Bag Review: December 2014 -

In an effort to keep you abreast of the various products and to catch up with everything I have intended to get done, today's post is a twofer Ipsy bag review.  First up is December's bag, followed by January's.  Enjoy!

What I Wore: Activewear Style

What I Wore: Activewear Style - Lane Bryant Flyaway Hoodie and Distressed Skinny Jeans, Maurices Rhinestone Embellished Long Sleeve Top, Reebok Sneakers -

Since Sean came home with a raging case of the flu yesterday, I have been caring for a sick husband today.  As people who don't get sick too often, any kind of down time like this throws us for a loop.  His fever went away, but he has been resting and coughing quite a bit.

So for today's late post, we shall keep it simple with a casual look perfect for running errands and being comfortable.

{Crafting Diva} How To: DIY Valentine's Day Coupon Book

Ah, Valentine's Day!  I really didn't become a fan of the day until I met Sean in 2005.  Since then, I enjoy going overboard with romantic gestures and gifts.  For our first Valentine's Day together, I made him a booklet called "100 Reasons Why I Love You".  And it actually contained 100 reasons.  I often kick myself for starting out our gifts together on such a high note because it has been very hard to beat that from year to year.

I know a lot of guys aren't the best gift givers, but Sean has always been pretty good at giving me lovely, thoughtful things for Valentine's Day.  I've surprised him with flowers and chocolate covered strawberries delivered to his work, but I lean more towards homemade tokens of love.  Framed photos, unique cards, handmade booklets, and today's special craft tutorial are just some of the things I have gifted to him through the years.  We typically stay home, make broth or cheese fondue (and sometimes dessert fondue), drink wine, and just spend time together.

Crafting Diva: DIY Valentine's Day Coupon Book -

If you are looking for a fun and easily personalized gift for Valentine's Day, I present you with the idea of a coupon book.  Last year, I saw a Groupon for one you could personalize with stick figure clip art and a selection of mundane tasks or generalized concepts.  It was black and white and just looked too stark and plain.  Etsy also has some options to choose from if you feel like you have no creative bone in your body.

If you want to go the completely personalized route or try your hand at getting creative, I'm about to teach you how to make one yourself.  This isn't a hard project, but it does involve a lot of cutting.  The end result is really great though and my husband absolutely LOVED his gift!  He did actually end up hoarding a majority of the coupons for December, to use during his birthday month.  If you need to make rules or stipulations, you may want to put them in the booklet. lol

What I Wore: Plaid Leggings

What I Wore: Lane Bryant Plaid Leggings, Avenue Riding Boots, Lane Bryant Chambray Tunic, Wal-Mart Sequin Infinity Scarf -

Often times, we don't think outside the box when it comes to clothing or push ourselves to buy multipurpose items.  Even as someone who loves wearing things in different ways and remixing outfits, I don't feel like I do it often enough or get creative with it on a regular basis.  I don't condone wearing pajamas in public, but sometimes pajamas don't have to look like pajamas.

Vegas Vacation Recap: Day 2 (Grand Canyon)

If you missed Day 1 of my Las Vegas Vacation Recap, you can find it here.  This is a long and picture heavy post because it was our longest day, but I did my best to narrow it down for you all.  At the very bottom of the post, you will find a comprehensive list of links pertaining to the trip and a link to my Facebook photo album with more supplemental pictures if you want to see them.

Vegas Vacation Recap: Day 2 (Grand Canyon) -

Day 2 started super early also, as I woke up around 2AM.  I wanted to make sure I had plenty of time to stumble around the hotel room, iron my clothes, and get ready in a non-rushed fashion.  We had to meet our tour bus at 6:25AM at Excalibur, with no exceptions.  The instructions were clear that the bus driver was strict about schedule and would leave without people if they were late.  As a constant late person, this freaked me out so I wanted to allow extra time.  (Also, allowing yourself extra time to get anywhere in Vegas is a really good idea because things are massive and spread out.)

Birchbox Review: December 2014

If you don't know about Birchbox, it is a monthly subscription service.  For $10 a month, you get a box of 4 to 5 high-end skincare, makeup, and/or hair care products to sample.  Sometimes there are also "lifestyle samples", like an organic granola bar, tea, etc.  Some products are even full-size!

It is a really fun thing to get in the mail!  I have been subscribed since 2011.  Plus, I am a product junkie and love being able to try all these different products.  Check out the website for more information!

December's theme was: Decked Out.

Birchbox Review: December 2014 -

I've been trying to use my monthly subscription samples as soon as I can.  I do not like writing a review post when I haven't used a product at least a few times. Some month's posts may be later or earlier depending on that issue.  All of these products are available through Birchbox and other retail sites as well.  I pay for my own subscription and always have.  If you want to sign up using my link, I receive some points for referring you!  Let's get on with the reviews!

What I Wore: Sartorial Medley: Best of 2014

What I Wore: Sartorial Medley: Best of 2014

2014 was a year of experimenting and having fun with fashion.  I had a great time reminiscing on my year of looks and picking my favorites for this "Best of" Sartorial Medley post!

Sometimes I find it a little hard to describe my style which, as a style blogger, is probably not the best thing. I have really developed a love of trying new things that are out of my comfort zone, so I feel like this hinders my ability to truly define my style.  I do know that I love more casual looks with color, embellishments, and feminine details.  I adore great prints, statement necklaces, and fit and flare silhouettes.  All of these things remain a constant, even when testing out new looks and trends.

Vegas Vacation Recap: Day 1

With the new year in full swing, I am getting more organized and more focused.  I finally have a chance to start sharing our November Las Vegas vacation with you!  This vacation was the first out-of-state adventure we have had since our honeymoon to Hawaii in 2008.  In light of the last few emotionally taxing years (family troubles and drama, my father-in-law passing away, our furbabies passing away, buying a house, my cancer diagnosis), we finally managed to get a real vacation in.  (I still have to share about our trip to Seattle, but it was a nice getaway too.)

We debated about going to Las Vegas in July when the New Kids On The Block had a four day stint of shows there.  I never turn down an opportunity to see NKOTB, but we decided to save up and try to take a vacation later in the year.  Las Vegas is a fun and exciting destination, but probably not my first idea at a relaxing one.  After Jordan from the New Kids and Nick from the Backstreet Boys formed a duo and announced a tour (with an inevitable Vegas date), we decided to go ahead and go.  In November the weather would be better.  A friend I have known since I was 16 lives there; and I had not seen her in about 10 years.  She would be going to the concert as well.  A trip to Vegas just seemed to work out. - Vegas Vacation Recap: Day 1

As with most travel days, we had a really early start.  I woke up at two in the morning to finish packing and get ready.  I agonized over my wardrobe for at least a few weeks in advance, trying to figure out how many outfits I needed and how many things I could wear multiple times.  The amount of shoes and finding the most comfortable cute shoes was probably the hardest part.  I wanted to pack as light and smart as possible but I hate not having my entire wardrobe options at my fingertips.  I have to say, I was pretty proud of my end results.  I also utilized taking a carry on for the first time.  Bulkier shoes, makeup prone to breakage (no liquids), a curling iron, and a blow dryer all came in the carry on.  It helped having that extra space for souvenirs as well.

Sephora Haul: Holiday 2014

Hi.  My name is Hailey and I am a total makeup junkie.  I would also add hair care and skin care to the junkie list because I like to try it all!  When Sephora does their Black Friday $10 mini sets sale, I snatch up a handful of products to try.  For me, this usually involves some great clearance deals and as many samples as I can find coupon codes. - Sephora Haul: Holiday 2014

While these particular sets are no longer available, the products are all regular items. There were some great hits and disappointing misses, so read on for details:

What I Didn't Wear: Postcards Ikat Skirt

This post should more accurately be called "What I Tried To Wear".  There were things I loved and things I did not love about my first foray into the Postcards brand. - What I Didn't Wear: Postcards Ikat Skirt via Gwynnie Bee

Postcards is an exclusive brand that is only available to the Gwynnie Bee community.  As with Flor, which I talked about in a previous post, they offer lots of great prints and colors in their dresses and tanks, up to size 32.  Those brilliantly hued prints are what draw me to these exclusive to GB brands.

What I Wore: Reminiscing On Warmer Weather

I have a backlog of some warmer weather outfits that I never had a chance to post about.  I'll probably pull them out as the weather begins to warm up because they are definitely looks I like.  Today I am bringing out a look from September that I loved and forgot to post about. - Lane Bryant Polka Dot Skater Dress and Skinny Patent Belt, Torrid Lace Insert Shrug, Crocs Adrina Flats, Avenue Bubble Necklace

Previously, I have worn this polka dot dress with turquoise only, so I was inspired to give it a twirl with the wonderful combination that is pink, black, and white.  I think this is my favorite by far!

What I Wore: Go-To Striped Sweaters

If you follow me on Instagram or caught a post on Twitter or Facebook, you already know that my beloved Kiki passed away on New Year's Eve.  It has been really hard for us losing him, not only because he was sweet and super loving and snuggly and small and Rusty's son, but because he was the last of our three fur babies.  Now the house is empty and more quiet than usual.  All I want to do is cry, but I've been staying really busy with cleaning and reorganizing the house to keep my mind off things.

Today, we are going to just ease back into things with a simple outfit post. - JCPenney's Plus A.n.a Striped Long-Sleeve Crew Neck Sweater, Torrid Denim Jeggings, Avenue Talia Stretch Tall Boots, Lane Bryant Twisted Stone Necklace - JCPenney's Plus A.n.a Striped Long-Sleeve Crew Neck Sweater, Torrid Denim Jeggings, Avenue Talia Stretch Tall Boots, Lane Bryant Twisted Stone Necklace

During one of our shopping outings in preparation for Christmas, we stopped by JCPenney to browse.  Originally, we were looking for a sweater for my mother-in-law and I was going to buy a scarf for my husband.  (His old one is from our first Christmas together nine years ago!  It was time for a new one!)
