Getting Ready For The Holidays: A 50s-Inspired Beauty Look

 Getting Ready For The Holidays: A 50s-Inspired Beauty Look (Vintage Makeup Tutorial) - #holiday #holidayparty #holidaydress #holidaymakeup #holidayhair #vintagehair #vintagemakeup #50s #vintageinspired #wingedliner #retro #fifties #vintagebeauty #plussizeblogger #plussizefashion

In today's post, I am once again teaming up with my blogger buddies Janeane, Liz, and Nina to bring you a holiday prep course with a vintage-inspired twist.  We really love doing these fun collaborations together and hope you are finding some inspiration in each of them.

We are each taking on an element of holiday party planning - food, decor, clothing, and makeup/hair - to give you some tips and inspiration for preparing your own party or spectacular entrance.  We've also decided to take on these tasks with a retro 50s-inspired theme!  Janeane of Designing From My Closet is talking home decor.  Liz of With Wonder and Whimsy is serving up a retro cocktail party, while Nina of Curvy Mod brings you vintage-inspired fashion. I'm taking on makeup and hair with a pictorial and walk-through, along with some helpful links to get you all done up!

What I Wore: City Chic Spliced Jacket Review

 Hailey is wearing the Kiyonna Metallic Mesh Top and Lane Bryant Genius Fit Skinny Jean. - #CityChic #plussize #Kiyonna #KiyonnaStyle #KiyonnaPlusYou #Metallic #plussizefashion #LaneBryant #holidayfashion #psblogger #plussizeblogger #styleblogger

Today's post is a quick review of a piece I finally get to wear!  I bought this jacket during an amazing City Chic clearance sale this past spring.  Since then, it has been way too hot to wear it, but I finally am able to pull it out. City Chic continues to put out similar styles, so I feel my review and information is still quite relevant.

I've shown this look on the blog previously when I reviewed this fabulous Metallic Mesh Top from Kiyonna. Not wanting to clog that post with more photos, the Spliced Suri Jacket gets its own post!

What I Wore: My First Eloquii Purchase

Hailey is wearing the Eloquii Donegal Knit Circle Skirt and Torrid Light Wash Denim Shirt. - #Eloquii #XOQ #Torrid #TorridInsider #plussize #plussizefashion #fallfashion #psblogger #plussizeblogger #styleblogger #plussizestyle #psootd #circleskirt

As an avid online shopper and self-proclaimed clothes horse, I spend a good amount of time looking at new arrivals and window shopping on my favorite retailer's websites.  Part of all that effort is for the blog, but I would probably be doing it anyway, even if I didn't have the blog.  I just love clothes.

When Eloquii first came on the scene, I was wary of ordering from them because I was really unsure of the fit.  It was hard to find anyone with my particular body type reviewing the clothing.  I kept thinking the size 24 was going to be smaller, so I just didn't order.  Now Eloquii also carries sizes 26 and 28, so there is a little bit of wiggle room if you need those few extra inches.  They have pretty great sales throughout the year as well, so it is kind of a win-win.

I finally decided to go ahead and make my first purchase from Eloquii in the form of the Donegal Knit Circle Skirt.  There are lots of colorful skirts to choose from, in a variety of styles.  But I am such a huge fan of the shape and silhouette of a good circle skirt.  I always lean towards that style above others.  Read on for my review....

Style Collab: Winter Trends

Style Collab: Winter Trends - #plussize #plussizefashion #plussizeblogger #wintertrends #winterfashion #plussizestyle #psootd

It seems as soon as fall sets in people start decreeing that "Winter is coming!"  This time of year does fly by pretty quickly for me, so I am sure winter will be arriving before I know it.  Today on the blog, I've again teamed up with my blogging buddies Liz of With Wonder and Whimsy, Janeane of Designing From My Closet, and Nina of Curvy Mod to show you our take on popular winter trends that have been popping up this season.

Liz is taking on a Baroque look.  Janeane is donning plaid and fur, while Nina is rocking shades of gray.  I, of course, jumped at putting together a sequin look.  Read on for my review of this great skirt and details on how I chose to style it...

What I Wore: Jete Streaked Plaid Tank Dress

Hailey is wearing the Jete Streaked Plaid Tank Dress via Gwynnie Bee. - #GwynnieBee #ShareMeGB #Jete #psootd #plussize #plussizefashion #styleblogger #fashionblogger #plussizeblogger #psblogger

As a long time subscriber of Gwynnie Bee (I signed up in January of 2013), I've had the opportunity to try brands I've never heard of, to try styles I wouldn't have thought twice about, and to push myself creatively in styling an item.  Sometimes it is just that little push to try something new that inspires me and/or helps me see my style and my body in a whole new, positive light.

I talked about Jete on the blog before while showing you how I styled a purple and orange tank dress.  The dress in today's post is the same style done a little different.  Read on for details....

What I Wore: Falling Leaves

Hailey is wearing the Ornamental Ease Cascade and Suprema Henley - both from catherines, and the Virtual Stretch Legging jean and Talia Stretch Riding boots - both from Avenue. - #Catherines #Avenue #fallfashion #psootd #psblogger #plussize #plussizefashion #plussizeblogger #widecalfboots

We're finally in the midst of fall here, which typically means rain, rain, and more rain.  I've been trying to get creative and find more covered outside areas to take photos in for upcoming posts.  This is always the time of year I am jealous of everyone's rain-less outfit photos. Before all the gloom settled in, I found this lovely leaf-covered area to play in.  It made me so excited because it was just the backdrop I wanted for photographing this fantastically fall ensemble!

Warby Parker Home Try-On Review

Warby Parker Review: I tried the Free At Home Try-On, testing out five pairs of frames for five days. - #plussizeblogger #psblogger #WarbyParker #FallSyllabus #glasses #frames #review

I'm a bit overdue for a new eye exam.  When Warby Parker reached out to me to encourage me to try their new fall collection of frames, I thought this was as good a time as any.  I would like to figure out exactly what shape, size, and color of frames I love best when the time comes to upgrade the small frames I currently have.

I have friends who bought their frames through Warby Parker and love them.  With their free At Home Try-On service, picking out frames is easy and painless.  I chose five pairs of frames that arrived at my door a few days later.  Read on for my experience and thoughts on the frames I tested out for the week.  (This is not a sponsored post.)

What I Wore: L.W.A - Leopard With Attitude

Hailey is wearing the Leopard Inset Dress from Lane Bryant. Check out the post for more photos and a review. - #plussize #plussizefashion #plussizeblogger #psblogger #psootd #leopardprint #LaneBryant

A month or so ago, I was out with my cousin for coffee when we decided to make an impromptu visit to Lane Bryant.  It was just as the fall items were hitting the stores.  We both made our rounds in the store and collected a good amount of items to try on.   Needless to say, we had great fun trying on clothing and giving opinions to each other.

I ended up falling for this leopard dress, which is a bit different than anything in my closet.  If you watch Arrow on The CW, it reminds me of something Felicity Smoak might wear.  It feels sophisticated and stylish, but in a more edgy, playful way.  Read on for more photos and my review.

What I Wore Halloween Edition: Lady Han Solo + Han Blaster DIY

Halloween 2015: Han Solo and Chewbacca - #plussize #StarWars #PlusSizeStarWarsCostumes #StarWarsCostumes #LadyHanSolo #HanSolo #psbloggers #plussizeblogger #DIY #DIYStarWars

Hello, everyone!  Welcome to November!  I hope you all had a great weekend and festive Halloween.  If you follow me on Instagram, you already know I spent last week working on my costume and that I went as Han Solo.  I LOVED my costume and was so excited to finally wear it.  It has been in my head for quite a while, so it was great for all the pieces to finally come together.

Initially, I wanted to make this costume because the cute Han dress from Her Universe doesn't come in my size.  That bummed me out greatly.  So I decided to take my frown and turn it upside down by putting together my own look.  In today's post, I'll talk about the elements of my costume, walk you through painting a realistic-looking blaster gun, and show you some photos from the Halloween party I attended with my hunky Chewbacca.
