Say Thanks to the Troops!

Regardless of how you feel about war or the US being in a war and what not, there are still people overseas who have left the comfort of home to put their lives in danger and sacrifice for the rest of us.  Going into the military is never a choice I would make for myself and I don't wish it on anyone, but I still feel grateful and inspired by the people who have the cojones to put their lives on the line.

XEROX is doing something pretty neat.  If you go to this web site - www.LetsSayThanks.com - you can pick out a thank you card and Xerox will print it and send it to a soldier that is currently serving in Iraq.

You can't pick out who gets it, but it will go to a member of the armed services.  How AMAZING it would be if we could get everyone we know to send one!!! It is FREE and it only takes a second.

Please take the time to send one and let others know of it as well.

Beauty Bargains: Urban Decay 24/7 Sets

Urban Decay posted a new deal on their Facebook today!  Stereophonic and Hi-Fi 24/7 Sets on sale for $20 each. (Regular $29.00 each) No code required.  Their sales usually last about a week.

The Hi-Fi Set includes 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencils in Mildew (an exclusive deep green color), Zero (black), 1999 (plum), and Flipside (teal), and a Heavy Metal Glitter Liner in Distortion (an iridescent sparkle).

The Stereophonic Set includes 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencils in Crash (an exclusive deep plum), Zero (black), Underground (metallic taupe), and Gunmetal (metallic silver), and Heavy Metal Glitter Liner in Midnight Cowboy (beige sparkle).

It would make a great holiday gift or last-minute stocking stuffer!   My personal experience with Urban Decay is that my order gets to me within 3 days after it ships, so if you order it ASAP you can definitely get it by Christmas.  And if any of the elves taking care of me read this blog, I would choose Stereophonic!

Pardon my absence...

I've had a bought of holiday induced depression.

I'll be okay soon, but I miss my Dad and my stepbrother.  My dad passed away 11 years ago, while my stepbrother passed away in March of this year.  I've done pretty good on the holidays since I met my husband, but this year has been really tough.

I have so much to be thankful for and happy about.  I am very grateful for that.  But no matter what I do, I just feel really ho-hum right now.

I'll post some more upbeat things soon.

Beauty Bargains: LORAC Cheek Stamps

Hello, everyone!

This is Part One in a short series on some Lorac makeup products I bought recently.  I want to do some reviews about the products and some swatches for those of you who want to know exactly what it looks like on skin before you buy.

The first product review is of Lorac Cheek Stamps.

These little suckers offer a new way of applying blush that I feel makes it quick and easy.   It is basically a stamp (as the name implies).  The blush is contained in the base, with a sponge applicator attached to the lid.  You need only twist the top off to reveal the spring-loaded sponge with product on it.  Literally stamp it on your cheek to apply the perfect amount.  You can use your fingers or a brush to blend and you're done!

I purchased the Cheek Stamp in Hibiscus  and Golden Glow  .
Both colors are vibrant and nicely pigmented.  They are really smooth and blend easily.  I haven't had any issues with fade at all, but I do use Smashbox Primer before applying my makeup.  Both colors look very natural on my skin.

Both colors side by side

Hibiscus is very close to my skin tone so the swatch I did of it did not show up well on camera, but here is Golden Glow.

I definitely recommend the Cheek Stamps!  I personally want to purchase at least two more colors for my collection.  They retail for $22, but are a part of LORAC's VIP Discount sale right now for $5.  They would make GREAT stocking stuffers for any makeup junkie, teenager, traveler, or mom-on-the-go!

In upcoming posts I will also be reviewing the following LORAC products: Oil-free Moisturizer, Sheer Lipstick, Croc Mocktail Collection, and Everyday Eye Collection.
