Today's post is another installment of At Home Fitting Room. This is where I try on things I have bought and tell you all about them. Some of these pieces are a little older (like Christmas clearance) and a lot are rather new. In fact, most of these are still available on the various websites. I still wanted to show you things that aren't available because the stores I buy from usually come out with various versions of a style throughout the year. So even if something isn't available, I hope it still helps you with figuring out fit.
I have the items divided into categories: Pajamas, Activewear, Swimwear, Lingerie, and Panties. You guys wanted to know about cute options, so I went for it. I've sprinkled extra information throughout on additional styles I love and gravitate towards. As always, if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. Let's get to it!
I'm wearing a bra with all these looks for a bit of modesty. Obviously, I wouldn't normally wear a bra to bed and I don't wear an underwire bra around the house. Fit isn't much different for me without a bra, except that I have a little extra room in the bust of the tops.
Pajamas
Sleep Lace Racerback Tank - Lane Bryant - Size 22/24
I couldn't pass up this cute PJ set during a recent sale. I was eyeing this whole look for quite a while before I decided to go ahead and get it. I've been loving PJ short sets lately, though I have tried to be really choosy about how many I snatch up. This tank is a soft knit and great fit. I am wearing my normal size and find that it accommodates my tummy and hips well. I love the crochet back detail, plus the color is so pretty!
Sleep Short - Lane Bryant - Size 22/24
These sleep shorts are also a comfy knit material. They are a little shorter than I expected, but that isn't a super big deal when I will be sleeping in them or just wearing them around the house. I love, love the pretty colors and knit waistband (with drawstring). I kind of want to collect all three colors. I know, I have a problem. lol
Sleep Cardigan - Lane Bryant - Size 22/24
I don't often get too cold, but I wanted the whole set. So naturally I also bought the matching cardigan. I can see me wearing this in Hawaii and putting on the cardigan so we can eat breakfast on the balcony of our room in the morning. Yes, I think of various scenarios when I think about buying an outfit. I imagine how it will make me feel and where I see myself wearing it. Sometimes wearing a certain look, pajamas or regular clothes, makes me think of a certain character or characteristic I can embody while wearing that ensemble. Call me crazy, but it is part of my creative process. lol
I digress. This is also made of a knit fabric, with little lace pocket details. Super comfy, but not too thick. The fit is great, not too slouchy or too tight. And if you need a regular clothing cardigan that looks like this, no one will know it was meant to be pajamas.
Jogger Sleep Pant - Lane Bryant - Size 22/24
I own at least three pair of these jogger sleep pants, so I do really love them. I have a leopard print, a plaid, and these pink polka dot pair. (The plaid and polka dot are still available online.) Again, they are made of stretchy, comfy knit. I am wearing them in my normal size. They are a bit more fitted at first and after washing, like you see in the photo. When you wear them for a while, they do stretch out a bit, but I don't feel like they look too sloppy. I have been trying to replace all my super old two sizes too big LB pajama pants that I wear around the house and these are awesome.
Printed Knit Sleep Pant - Lane Bryant - Size 22/24
Again, these are made of a stretchy knit. They are soft and so comfy. These are a more relaxed straight leg fit versus the tapered leg of the jogger pant. These are the style of most of my super old and too big LB PJ pants, so I feel right at home. I think I need all the colors of these too because I adore having PJ options. lol I also want to mention that all the PJ pants are a great length. I never have a problem with the PJ pant styles being too long. And I think about 98% of my PJs are from LB.
Soft and Comfy Lace Trim Camisole - Hips and Curves - Size 4X
Aside from a couple bras, this was my first non-panty purchase from Hips and Curves. This tank is made from such a soft, silky knit. It is so, so, so comfy. The name is not lying, they are truly so soft and super comfy. They often have these tanks at a sale price, so I bought quite a few when they were on crazy sale. I have some set aside for PJs and some set aside for Sexy Time. These look so cute and sexy with a great pair of panties! I hope they carry more colors in the future. Right now they just come in black and grey. See my reviews for Hips and Curves thigh high stockings and bras and panties. I also own the Soft and Comfy Printed Long Pajama Pants. I forgot to photograph them. I also bought those in a 4X. They fit good through the hips and thighs, but I almost think I could size down one. The PJ pants and shorts are both made from the same silky rayon spandex blend, so they are extremely soft and comfy, as the name suggests.
Cropped Jogger Sleep Pant - Lane Bryant - Size 22/24
Another wardrobe item I am trying to replace - my old, oversized capri PJ/around the house pants. These are just a capri version of the jogger sleep pant, so you know I love them. Strechy, soft knit and a cute pattern! The elastic waistband is covered by a soft, ribbed knit, making it very comfortable to wear. This type of waistband is on all the PJ pants in this post.
Lace Bodice Cami and Short PJ Set - Lane Bryant - Size 22/24
(Similar, Chemise)
This is an older PJ short set, but LB carries this style of shorts with very similar tops on a regular basis. The knit is a really silky feeling knit similar to the Hips and Curves tank. There is a knit band under the bust and a beautiful lace overlay. I have worn and washed this multiple times and it holds up well. PS - I hardly ever put actual clothing in the dryer to dry, just FYI. Everything I own gets hung up to dry and then tossed in the dryer for a couple minutes to soften it and fluff it up. This helps my clothes last longer, look better, and not shrink.
Activewear
Livi Active Ombre Banded Bottom Tee - Lane Bryant - Size 26/28
I'm loving all the Livi Active tops I have tried on. I usually wait until they are on clearance (or I happen upon them in the clearance section), but I find they are typically made of really soft knit fabric that feels great to wear. The sizing is a bit different depending on style. I have a 3/4 length top in a 22/24 that is actually quite oversized. This ombre top is a 26/28 with a pretty good fit, and the below top is an 18/20. If you can try them on first, that is ideal. I bought this top because of the comfy fabric, but also because the peachy/orange color goes with quite a few of my collected workout leggings and such. Plus, it will be great for summertime casual wear. It isn't super noticeable, but there are a couple of cutouts along the neckline.
Spliced Signature Stretch Knee Legging - Lane Bryant - Size 22/24
(similar)
LB has been carrying some of these more knee length leggings that I love wearing for workouts or around the house. They are super comfy and hold their shape very well. I also have an older blue pair with a black stripe that I found in store. Compared to the Old Navy compression shorts, these are slightly longer and the material isn't as thick. I think I prefer these because they hold their shape better, where the Old Navy ones can stretch a little in the waist and start to need pulling up every so often.
Livi Active Asymmetric Hacci Hoodie - Lane Bryant - Size 18/20
I found this top on clearance for about $7, I believe. I think the tighter pants make my belly roll show more because it usually doesn't. This is also a Livi Active top, but in an 18/20. You can tell it is more fitted, but not overly so. The material is a really soft, thinner material, almost like a sweater texture if that makes sense. It isn't hot or stuffy, but it isn't a straight up knit. Anyway, the color matches some of my other workout pants and for the price, I snatched it up. I love the sleeve length and the cute hoodie look.
High-Rise Go-Dry Compression Capris - Old Navy - Size 3X
This print is no longer available, but they do have some here, here, and here.
I love these Old Navy capris! They are great for workouts, made of a thicker material. I do think I could size down to a 2X at times because after I wear them a bit they start to become larger in the waist and I have to pull them up a lot. I love that they come in a variety of colors and patterns throughout the year. I own a couple pairs of these and two pairs of the plain black compression shorts.
Graphic Plus-Size Tee - Old Navy - Size 3X
This particular tee is no longer online, but Old Navy carries graphic tees all the time. You can find current ones here and here.
I am a huge fan of the TV show Parks and Rec, so when I saw this "Treat Your Self" tee I knew I needed to have it. If you are also a fan of the show, you will get the reference. As with most ON stuff, sizing is so inconsistent. This graphic tee wasn't part of the "relaxed graphic tee" category, so I bought my regular size. It fits well in the bust, but the rest is very oversized. I mainly bought it to wear it around the house anyway, so it isn't a huge deal. It is a normal knit tee and I do like the longer length.
Wicking Space Dye Active Legging - Lane Bryant - Size 22/24
(similar)
I think this print is common for LB leggings. These were on clearance and great for both workouts and hanging out around the house. I almost think I could have sized down, but my normal size fits well. The crotch to waist area seems a bit big on me as far as fit. It isn't something noticeable since this is a very fitted garment anyway. They are a thinner material than the Old Navy compression capris, but I feel like the Old Navy ones have that white sheen when they stretch over your body and the LB leggings don't tend to do that. These also have that triangular mesh panel from ankle to knee, which I think adds some interest. I'm wearing these around the house this week and find them soft and comfy.
Swimwear
Swim 365 Blue Geo A-Line Swimdress - Swimsuits For All - Size 24
(Pink Version, Pink Version 26-34, Blue Version 26-34)
I posted this suit on Instagram when I got it in the mail. I LOVE IT! I own one swimsuit that I bought back in 2008 for my honeymoon (the first suit I owned since I was in middle school). It fits great and is a quality suit I have featured on the blog before, but I wanted a skirted suit that covered the top part of my thighs. I guess I am most self-conscious about my thighs, so I would feel better in public if that part of me was concealed. lol The suit I wanted was almost $200. I don't have enough swim opportunities to make that a feasible cost. While this one isn't cheap, I got it for about $55 during a sale in preparation for my future trip to Hawaii. This was my first purchase from Swimsuits For All and I am quite pleased.
The suit itself is very well-made and feels very supportive. There is a built-in bra with padded cups that fits my bust well, but definitely has more room to stretch for you bustier gals. It has a higher waist with a wide elastic panel for structure. Underneath the cute split skirt is attached spandex shorts. It is very fitted, but still pretty easy to get into. I love that the back isn't too low either. I was worried about the bra not giving much shape to my smaller bust, but I think it does an excellent job. The above picture is just the swimsuit, no additional bra underneath.
Bold Stripe Cover-Up - Lane Bryant - Size 22/24
What's a beach day without a cover-up? Sticking to my future vacation color scheme, I ended up buying this new cover-up from LB recently. It looked knit in the website photo (which is ideal), so I didn't even read the description. Silly me. It is actually rayon (which needs to be ironed), but that also means it is cool and light. I love the bright royal blue and the fit once you tighten the drawstring. What I thought was a white stripe is actually a very pale aqua. I just love the drama of the contrasting stripes. Plus, this would look great with a pair of shorts as well. It also has pockets.
Lingerie
Shimmer Lace Cup Chemise - Lane Bryant - Size 22/24
Sean bought this chemise for me for Valentine's Day. Even without a bra, it has a pretty great fit for my smaller bust. I love the shimmery lace and little bow detail. I also love that the satin skirted portion is not see-through like so many other similar styles. I like that it is a little different in that aspect. The straps are adjustable, which helps a lot to personalize the fit for us with smaller boobs. It is definitely a very romantic Sexy Time outfit. And the color!
High- Low Chemise - Lane Bryant - Size 22/24
I own a ton of knit chemises from LB and love that style. I wear them as pajamas in the summer when it is too hot for much else. They always offer a great fit and are so cute. I saw this one and immediately thought "Sexy Time Princess". lol The skirted portion is see-through but not overtly so. I love the cascade of the high-low back and how it moves when I walk. The color is gorgeous, the lace is so pretty (and not see- through), and the extra straps in the back add a little something extra as well. It isn't made of a stretchy knit, but it is still very comfortable to wear.
Panties
Charmer Ruched-Back Cheeky Panty - Lane Bryant - Size 22/24
I LOVE ruched-back panties! They make my butt look more shapely and my husband LOVES them. I own quite a few from Torrid, but was super excited when LB introduced some ruched-back styles recently. Yes, I bought them in every color. And I have to say, I quite prefer the LB ones to the Torrid ones. The Torrid styles are more hipster style, so they sit lower on the hip and through the tummy. I find that this LB style sits a little below my natural waist and in such a place that it really accentuates the curve of my hips. This particular style from the Charmer category is made of a silky microfiber-feeling material with lace panels on the front sides and a pretty little lace detail at the waist. They don't roll down or ride up. I mainly wear these for Sexy Time and wear the cotton high-leg panties or briefs as every day panties. But these are definitely comfortable enough for every day wear.
Sassy Cotton Ruched-Back Cheeky Panty - Lane Bryant - Size 22/24
(Also here)
These are the more casual version of the above panties. Made from a soft cotton knit, they are my absolute favorites. SUPER comfy and soft and easy to wear, they are cut so well! I am always so pleased when a panty covers my tummy well; and I think I have the best luck with that with LB panties and some of the Hips and Curves styles. I own these in every color too.
Crotchless Thong Panty - Lane Bryant - Size 22/24
LB has had a few different styles of the crotchless panty. Again, I wear them for Sexy Time only and find them very comfy. The actual crotch area is just split in the middle, so it still covers your bits without there being a big draft or open area. The back is more of a thong, though it is a little wider than a regular thong so it sits more like a panty instead of going up your butt in an uncomfortable fashion. The wide lace panel fits over my tummy and hips so well and looks really pretty. I think these were one of the first styles of sexy panties that actually made me feel really sexy and see my body in a more sexy way. They just fit really well. I own three pairs of these: pink, red, and black.
Eyelet Lace Cheeky Panty - Lane Bryant - Size 22/24
(similar)
Sean bought these for me as part of my Valentine's Day gift. They match the other chemises well. The eyelet lace with scalloped edges is so, so pretty. I also love the criss-cross straps in the back. These do sit a little lower than the previously mentioned panties. Keep that in mind if you have a larger tummy like me (and don't like lower panties). If you move around a lot wearing them, they tend to roll down a little in the front.
Strappy Mesh High Waist Panty - Torrid - Size 3
I bought about six pairs of panties from Torrid during a sale earlier this year. Most of them are a hipster style that sits lower on my tummy, which isn't my favorite. However, they all have ruched butts aside from this high-waisted panty I bought in red and black. The high-waisted panty fits like a normal brief on me. They offer coverage and I think they look really great. The strappy detail is sexy and definitely on trend. I do find Torrid's panties a bit more fitted than LB, so you may want to size up if you carry most of your weight in your tummy/butt/hips. I find that the fancier styles also have less stretch. And aside from the Torrid microfiber panties, I find LB panties to be made of more comfortable fabrics.
Sparkle Skirted Crotchless Panty - Lane Bryant - Size 22/24
(Similar 1, 2, 3)
Another crotchless style from LB. I love the shimmery skirt and didn't have a skirted panty, so I bought them on clearance. The attached panty isn't the best, but you can barely see it. It is just a triangular shape in front and back. While this isn't too bad over the butt, I don't like that my tummy roll is visible from the sides of the panties. Again, you can't really see it much through the skirt, but it may not make you feel the most comfortable if you want a bit more support or cover.
