What I Wore: Boots with Pep!

Hello, dahlings!  I hope this post finds you well.  I am so excited to share this outfit with you!  This ensemble was worn to my husband's work party a couple weeks ago.  It combines three pieces I have been looking for everywhere - a peplum top, skinny jeans, and tall boots.  Until now, these pieces eluded me.  But I have found them!!

I started looking at eShakti when I saw how great their prices can be.  Not only do they have super cute retro-style dresses, but they continuously offer great styles in skirts and tops.  When you sign up on eShakti's website, you get a $25 gift certificate to use towards any item.  I decided to take advantage of this and ordered a brown striped peplum top that I haven't blogged about yet.  I loved it so much that I ordered this burgundy one as soon as I saw it.  eShakti's clothing ranges in sizes 0-36 and you can have any item customized to your measurements (or change the sleeve length, neckline, skirt length) for only $7.50 extra.

When ordering this top, I had the elbow-length sleeves extended to three-quarter length, and made the length of the top just a tad longer.  I would highly recommend this company.  I have also received various $20 off codes in my email as well.  For a plus-size gal with a smaller chest, like myself, the opportunity to customize to my measurements has been wonderful!  This style is not currently available, but it seems they cycle some styles through in different colors.  Keep checking their site if this style interests you.

On to the jeans!  I already wrote about my adventures in trying on skinny jeans.  This pair is the fruit of my labor.  The calf and ankle area seem to fit me a little more like a straight leg.  I still have to do a little folding and tucking to get them in the boots.  However, they are comfortable and fit well.  I did find that after two wears they were quite stretched out in the waist and bottom.  I washed them to shrink them back to size, but haven't worn them yet.

Now let's talk about the boots. Holy Cannoli, y'all!!  I am so glad I went ahead and bought these when I had the chance.  They are from Avenue.com.  I read the reviews and saw that some other wide-calf ladies had success with these.  Originally $75, these boots were on sale for $35 and I also had a percentage discount. (If you wear a size 12 or 13, they are on sale now for $29.96.)

When they arrived in the mail, I had to try them on immediately.  The back laces up, so I was able to loosen them just a bit for a perfect fit.  They make me feel so sassy!  Not only am I just plain ecstatic to have found a pair that works for me, but I feel pretty awesome in them.  I've worn them on several occasions now and have to comment on their surprising comfortable factor.  If I wear them for hours and hours, they rub my big toe just a tiny bit.  Otherwise, I have no other issues with them.

If I do a video while wearing these, just be warned that I will be strutting up a storm!

PS - While you still have to put up with some more outfit photos that involve my driveway that needs to be pressure washed, I finally set up a nice looking photo area in my garage!  It rains so much here that it is really the only way I can manage a nice-looking background.  Can't wait to show you!

  2. You should wear red more, because it looks amazing on you! I love that top, too. I've had mixed luck with eshakti...not the fit, but their customer service. One of my dresses (out of 5 total that I ordered at 2 different times) got lost in transit. It took them a month to respond to my emails, then another two weeks to explain that the tracking number they gave me in their responsive email was for the package that was STILL LOST. They finally refunded my money, but it irritated me. I'm contemplating giving them another shot, because no one else has cute stuff like that.

If you want a lipstick that matches your top... NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Cruella.

  5. Hmm, that's unfortunate you had a bad customer service experience. I haven't had to deal with their customer service yet, so I don't have an opinion on that. I hope they have gotten better though.

I just now realized I don't wear red often. I didn't notice the top matched my hair until I saw the photos. I think I like this darker red than I bright red for me though. I am definitely going to keep my eyes open for more pieces this color.
(And will check out that lipstick when I go to Sephora next time. I don't own anything in that color. :-)

  6. Thank you so much! You know I am super happy I found some boots too. I've only worn them with jeans so far, so I am excited about incorporating them in to other outfits. I should go ahead and do a video next time so I can be a dork and strut around. lol
