What I Wore: Upper West Blazer

I don't wear a lot of jackets.  I love the look of them; I love how they can dress up the look of an outfit.  But I don't leave the house enough to really invest in one.  Plus, I am naturally warm and don't need the extra insulation.

During my free 30-day trial of Gwynnie Bee, I decided to go ahead and try some blazers.  I usually have fit issues with areas like the bust and hips, so I wasn't expecting much from the blazers in my virtual closet.

Then I received the Upper West Blazer from Mynt 1792. (See me in the Lower Eastside Tux Jacket here.)  The fit was fantastic.  No bulky bust, not tight on my hips, not too tight when I cinched it with the little buckle, and the sleeves weren't too long.  The material is a soft sueded fabric with a polyester lining. It is thin enough that I didn't get over-heated. (For reference, I  am a 26/28 and wore this jacket in a 4X.)

  1. I like the brown with the red. I'm generally not a blazer fan, either...but I do like this new trend of the ponte-knit suit separates. That gives the jackets enough wiggle room in the shoulders for me not to feel like I'm wearing a straitjacket.

  2. I love the ponte knit separates too! The pencil skirts are so much more comfortable in ponte.

  3. Yes. And the pants. It's like being able to wear yoga pants to work...LB had some on sale for like $12 last summer and I bought like 5 pairs. They don't wrinkle much, which is also a bonus. (I hate wrinkles, but I hate ironing more.)

  4. hahaha Me too. I bought a steamer when I got married and that thing has come in handy. I use it more than an iron now. I try to get the wrinkles out before I hang stuff up so I won't have to worry about it when I choose an outfit. But my closets are so packed that sometimes they get wrinkles. Of course, that could be avoided if nothing were to wrinkle in the first place!

  6. Thank you, Terry! I think I need to find someone to make alterations on the blazers I do own so they fit like this one does. I have a teal blazer I love, but it is way too boxy.
