I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend! I spent my Saturday meandering around one of my favorite shopping centers while Sean did some weekend work. It was nice having me time, but I rather enjoy having a shopping buddy with me. If you want to check out my dressing room photos and more, be sure to follow me on Instagram.
Thankfully, Sean was available for a date night at the comedy club. This time around, we went for a showcase of comedians featuring Chris Kattan. While the club has a more casual dress code, I don't think there is anything wrong with being overdressed. Kiyonna sent me this lovely royal blue dress that fit the bill for this occasion.

The Helium Comedy Club in Portland always has great guest comedians and good local comics too. We've been to quite a few shows there in the last few years and have always been impressed with the cleanliness, friendliness of the staff, and the overall atmosphere of the club. This time around, it was fun to see a variety of comedians with short sets. We've usually gone for one main act with an opener, so the variety was entertaining. Chris Kattan's set was very funny. He did some characters from his SNL days and told a few stories from behind the scenes, as well as a few stories about relationships and crazy antics. He got off track a few times but it was all with hilarious results. Sean and I had a great time!
The weather has been off and on fantastic lately and was quite beautiful the day of the show. There wasn't really a need for an extra jacket or cover-up, so I let the dress speak for itself. I LOVE when a dress has three-quarter sleeves because then it becomes much more low maintenance for me. I simply added some sequin flats, a studded black clutch, and a blue and yellow sparkly necklace. The royal blue hue paired with this gorgeous fitted bodice and full skirt really shine as they are. Every aspect of the dress fit me very well; it is, indeed, perfection. I have no complaints. The length was perfect, the arms fit comfortably, the bust fit well. I didn't need a slip or Spanx. (By the way, I am wearing this dress in a 3X. I am 5'9" and typically wear a 22/24.)
The fabric is a polyester spandex that feels like a ponte knit. This means it is stretchy and comfortable and hangs nicely. It features a small chevron-like texture that adds a subtle interest to the solid fabric. The "peek-a-boo" comes from a sexy little blue lace panel under the bust. There is a nude, mesh lining behind the lace that allows for a hint of skin to be shown. I think it is a beautifully classy way to be sexy, while also adding interest to a basic fit-and-flare silhouette. If you are attending a wedding this spring or summer, I would highly recommend this dress. Not only will you look amazing, but you will feel amazing and be comfortable enough to enjoy the festivities. Also, if you demand arm coverage or don't want to fuss with any layering, this is a great dress for you!
As I've been inspired by other fashion bloggers to wear my jean jacket with more outfits, I tried it with this dress. This jacket seems a little long with this dress, but it was still cute and low key.
