FMM: All The Single Ladies (and Gents)
(And the married folks too!)

1. What is your current relationship status?  Are you happy with that status?

I am married, for almost 4 years now.  I am super duper happy! I have an amazing husband.

2. Do you find it enjoyable to take care of someone in addition to yourself, or do you prefer to be responsible only for yourself?

I enjoy taking care of someone else and having someone care for me.  It works out well.

3.  What’s the most important physical characteristic in your mate/potential mate?

Pretty eyes, sweet smile, taller than me.  Those were always the first physical features on my check list. lol

4. What’s the most important (non-physical) characteristic in your mate/potential mate?

The most important characteristics I wanted in someone were intelligence, kindness, understanding, trustworthiness and loyalty, and a great sense of humorLuckily, I found someone with those qualities.

5. Is it important to you that your significant other have the same hobbies and interests as you?

We certainly don't have everything in common, but my husband and I have lots of the same interests and likes.  We love to go to the movies, to concerts, play video games, do computer stuff, bowling, traveling, hanging out with friends, etc.   As for differences, I feel we are both very respectful and interested in learning what the other likes.  He supports my boy band habit and has gone to see the Backstreet Boys and NKOTB with me.  I, in turn, have gone with him to gaming conventions and comic fests.  We've both enjoyed all the events we have gone too together.

6. If you could go out on a date with a celebrity who would it be?

Well, my usual suspects are Joe McIntyre, Nick Carter, and Mark Feehily. lol  But I am also crushing on Josh Gates, the adventurous explorer and world traveler who also hosts Destination Truth.

7. What’s your idea of a good first date?

When I was younger, I always thought going bowling or to an amusement park would be a great first date.  I think an activity where you are able to talk to someone and share in an experience is a great date.  My first date with my husband consisted of dinner and a movie, but it was still fun.

8. Are there any traits/habits that you’d consider a deal breaker?

Smoking, drugs, general hygiene issues are all no-nos.  I also would never date someone who was racist, homophobic, sexist, sizist, abusive, disrespectful, stupid, etc.

9. Okay ladies…Facial Hair: Yes, or No?

No.  The occasional 5 o'clock shadow is fineA little scruff never hurt anyone.  But I prefer a smooth face.

10.  Would you marry someone who is opposed to diamond engagement rings?

hahahaha No.  I have been opposed to marriage since I was a kid.  But then I met my husband and I just knew I wanted to be with him for the rest of my life.  So when I decided I wanted to take the plunge, I wanted to do it up right.  To me, that means the biggest, most fantastic diamond he could realistically afford.  He picked it out himself and did an EXCELLENT job!

11. What do you wish you could do differently in your next relationship?

This is it for me.  I work on what I can to be a better person for myself and for my husband.  That's all I can do.

12. Is there anyone from your past that you’d like to date again now?

13. Describe your worst first date story ever.

Okay, here it goes:
A coworker friend set me up on a blind date with a friend of her husband.  I was very wary of this set up, so I explained my laundry list of must-haves to her and told her the guy had to meet most of these requirements.  I KNEW what I wanted; and I didn't want to waste my time on anything less.
So after work, her husband and his friend come to pick us up.  The first problem was that he was a little over half as tall as me.  I only date guys who are taller.  The second problem was that he wasn't attractive at all.  We were introduced and he gave me one of those tiny flocked gas station roses.  I wanted to go home right then.
We get in his truck.  I'm sitting up front and my friend and her husband are in the back.  As soon as we start out of the parking lot, my date gets a phone call and proceeds to talk on his phone for 15 minutes, in Spanish.  I can pick out various words in Spanish because I took two years of it in high school, but I didn't really understand anything he was saying. And come ON!  It is just rude!
He gets off the phone and starts talking to my friend's husband in Spanish.  They have this whole conversation while my friend and I are just sitting there.  She can't understand anything they are saying either.  I was able to pick out certain words that informed me they were talking about my friend in very unfavorable terms.  I was stewing mad at this point.
We get to the restaurant for dinner.  It was a casual place that I enjoyed, with a trivia game you can play any time.  I figured I'd get them all to play trivia with me and whoop their asses and turn this guy off with how smart I am.  Because in my experience to that point, guys don't really want to date smart girls.  They want girls they can talk into doing stupid things.  I wanted to intimidate this jerk with my intelligence in hopes we could just be done with this date early.
I did whoop everyone's ass at trivia, but the tiny jerk didn't seem too phased.  Next, we went to some nightclub where Dumby #1 and Dumby #2 started playing pool, while my friend and I sat at a table.  A nice guy came over and started talking to me.  He was kind and intelligent.  I was happy to have someone decent to talk to.  But within a few minutes, my date and my friend's husband came over to see what was going on and why this guy was talking to us.  I was so angry because they stepped to this guy like we were their property.
So my friend and I went out on the dance floor.  The idiots joined us, which grossed me out, so I went back to sit down.  Now during this time, the Idiots left their pool table and game to come over and circle us.  Since they abandoned their game, some other guys had taken over the table.  Once they left the dance floor and went back to their pool table, they found some other guys there.  Which started a fight.  Which resulted in them getting kicked out of the club.
I was livid.  But these jerk-offs wanted to go out for dessert.  So we go to some hole in the wall restaurant and they order dessert.  This little prick starts telling me how beautiful I am and he wants to call me and he wants us to go out  and he wants to date me.  I thanked him for the compliments, but I thought I was very standoffish otherwise.
Eventually, they drop me off at home and I say goodbye quickly.  The next day though, the guy sends me roses at work.  Then my friend gave him my phone number, so he calls me and tells me how beautiful I am and he "wants to be with me."  I tried to turn him down nicely.  After a week of being nice, I finally had to tell him "I do not like you.  I do not want to date you. I do not want to be your friend or see you ever again."  Only then did he get the hint.

This same friend, along with another coworker, wanted to set me up on another blind date a year or so later.  I was very much against any person she could possibly want to set me up with.  After two months of them constantly trying to talk me into it, I gave in.  Mostly, the other coworker was in charge of this set up; and that blind date turned out to be my husband.  :-)

14. Describe the perfect date with your significant other.

I still think going to an amusement park would be so much fun.  My husband has never ridden a roller coaster in his life, so he needs to experience that at least once.  We also would love to visit Ireland, so maybe we can have a super romantic Irish date in the future.

15.  Would you date someone shorter than you?

No.  I've never felt comfortable dating shorter guys.  It just isn't for me.

16. Share one (or a few) bonus traits that would be fun to find in an significant other (even if they aren’t as important as other traits.)

Bonus traits include: playing guitar, writing music, singing, cooking, etc.

17. What’s one thing you’d like to do with a significant other that you’ve never done with another?

The possibilities are endless.  Travel and do fun activities that are new to us, I suppose.  I'd still like to ride horses on the beach and go 4-wheeling in Hawaii, maybe parasailing.  Stuff like that.  And we need to get into a healthier lifestyle as far as fun exercise activities we can do together.

18.  PDA: Yes, or No?

A small kiss and hand holding, hugging, being sweetly affectionate is fine.  But I don't think it is appropriate to do more than that in a public setting.  It makes me very uncomfortable to be around people who behave in overly affectionate ways, so I am not going to act that way myself.

19. Do you kiss on the first date?

It was never a rule for me, but I have before.  It just depends on if it feels right or not.

20. Who, if anyone, makes your heart flutter?

Well, my husband, of course.  And the dudes I mentioned in #6.

  1. Wow, hubby went to NKOTB with you!!! That's awesome. My husband flat out said no less than a dozen times that he thought that sounded like an awesome "girls' night out" plan. Haha. But the funny thing is, I sometimes randomly put one of their songs on one of his running playlists and I know he listens to it!

    1. Most of the straight guys I know like their new stuff until they are told it is NKOTB. THEN they want to form a dumb opinion. lol Just like middle school...
But I am glad that my hubby has been open minded. It makes for a happier me. :-)
