Hey, y'all! Today I am bringing you an At Home Fitting Room post with a hodgepodge collection of clothing I have purchased since Black Friday. A majority of it is still available online, so it seems like a great time to bring you a look and review of my shopping addiction.
Black Friday brings loads of deals, as you know. I was looking for specific pieces for my upcoming vacation, but managed to snag some great deals on things I had on my Wish List and items from brands I haven't purchased from before. This is always exciting for me because that means I get to share my new knowledge with you as well. I actually went a little crazy shopping over the holidays, but I did get some amazing deals for my efforts.
Speaking of vacation, this will be my last post for a couple of weeks because I am heading off to Hawaii! You can keep up with my adventures over on Instagram. I'm writing this post with whiskey in hand and trying not to freak out about my mile-long To Do list. Toiletries are packed, but clothing and shoes and accessories are not. EEK! So grab a cocktail and enjoy the latest edition of At Home Fitting Room!
- All items were purchased by me, for me. All opinions are my own. -
Target Women's Plus Sherpa Lined Zip Up Hooded Vest - 3X (Miss Chievous Juniors')
(no longer available online)
I have been loving vests so much, I went ahead and bought this one when it was on sale. It is warm, soft, and cozy. The 3X seems a little big in the bust for me, but doesn't look too big in person or in photos. I wondered if I should size down, but this one zips up comfortably. I had no idea it was a juniors size item until I started this post. I guess I didn't pay attention when I ordered. So far, it seems like Target's plus juniors items are almost oversized. I'll probably size down in them next time I order.
As someone who gets too hot in most stores and homes in the winter, I have found vests to be such a great part of my wardrobe. I can stay warm when need be, but take the layer off when I am too hot. I know I could do that with a jacket too, but jackets can sometimes be bulky and cumbersome. I stopped buying clothes from Target for a long time, but I have been really happy with all of my recent Target clothing purchases. They do have way more options online than in-store and, if you get the Target Red Card (it is just associated with your debit card), you can take an extra 5% off of every purchase. Plus, they have some great online coupon codes from time to time too. This vest was originally $24.99. I purchased it for $17.50.
Target Plus Size Kimono Cardigan with Hi-Low Hem (Born Famous Juniors') - 3X
(Available in a 2X online; on clearance for $19.58)
The colors in this kimono totally go with my vacation clothing color scheme. I have sexy beach goddess dreams and this kind of looked the part to me. Because it is a juniors size, I went ahead and ordered the 3X thinking it was going to be a little smaller. I could totally have gotten away with the 2X, but I decided not to worry with returning it. It is oversized as kimonos tend to be. I like the flowy look to it. The design is really pretty also. It is super lightweight and airy (polyester/spandex fabric), which makes it perfect for a beachy vacation. I also don't think I need to iron it, which is why it will be great to pack as well. The sleeves are finished with an ivory lace. I feel like it could lean really grandma if the pattern were different, but as it is I really like it. It was originally $27.99. I purchased it for $19.59.
Torrid Be Your Own Kind of Beautiful Ribbed Raglan Tee - 3
(Still available in Torrid sizes 0, 1, 2, 3, 5,and 6)
I love Torrid's raglan tees. Plus, I love the saying on this one. The fabric is a stretchy rayon/spandex/poly knit that fits pretty true to size. It is slightly more fitted in the tummy for me than some of the other Torrid tee styles. This particular combo of knit is more fitted than the Cinderella and Star Wars Raglans I have, but it isn't so fitted that it is a deal breaker. I like the texture of the ribbed sleeves and look of the shirt overall. If most of your weight is in your tummy and hips, you may want to size up. This shirt is $34.50. I purchased it for $15.34.
Torrid Plaid Ponte Pencil Skirt - 3
(Still available online in a 00 and 0 =10/12)
Stretchy, comfy, a little lower than knee length. I haven't had the opportunity to wear this skirt out yet, but it is super comfy and fits great! I was on the fence about buying it because I couldn't think of anywhere I had to wear it. However, Sean insisted my ass would look great in it so I bought it. He was right. This skirt was originally $38.90. I purchased it for $23.90.
Torrid Lace Trim Cold Shoulder Top - 3
(Still available online in 3, 4, 5, 6)
I loved this top the first time I saw it, but it sold out pretty fast. When it became available again, I decided to snatch it up for vacation. It fits really well, with plenty of room in the tummy and hips for me. I love the sexy lace, off-the-shoulder detail as well. The fabric is a thin poly/rayon/nylon with some stretch to it. The double layer makes it opaque, so you don't have to worry about it being see-through at all. The color is a vibrant pink, which is just gorgeous. I look forward to wearing it!! The shirt is orginally $38.90. I purchased it for $23.90.
Torrid Microfiber & Lace Push-Up Plunge Bra - 40B
(No longer available online)
I LOVE Torrid plunge bras!! I feel like I have finally found a bra that fits me relatively good. The cups fit my small boobs without massive gaping areas and the band is wider than my old bras. I just love them. I probably own eight of them now, this plaid one being the latest. I don't think I have shown any of my bras on the blog, so I thought I would go ahead and show you this one. This bra was regular $48.90. I purchased it for $28.90.
Strappy Foxy Cami - 3 and 4
(Still available online in all sizes)
I talked a little bit about this cami in a recent post. They are both way too fitted on me to wear them alone or with just an over-shirt, but I do really like them. I bought the 3X first (middle picture above) and loved it as a layering piece. I have seen people wearing them on Instagram where the tummy and hips are much looser. So I also bought the 4X (far right picture above) thinking the larger one would not be as fitted. They both fit basically the same, with the 4X being a little less tight than the 3X. These camis are regular $22.90. I purchased them from between $8 and $15.
Lane Bryant 3/4 Sleeve Scoop-Neck Pocket Tee - 22/24
(Available online in all sizes; $10 on sale at time of this typing)
I love my LB pocket tees! I own about six different colors now, though I haven't shown them all on the blog yet. You can find other pocket tee outfits here, here, here, and here. This time around I bought purple and turquoise. I love the stretchy, soft knit fabric, three-quarter sleeves, and rounded hem. I find that sometimes they fall a little shorter lengthwise. My red and bright purple ones are a little shorter than the other colors. The cut is more generous and provides extra room for my tummy and hips, which is another plus. These tops are regular $29.95. I purchased mine for $12.58. Right now they are the "Style Fix" with a special price of $10 online.
Lane Bryant Lounge Top with Drawstring Hem - 22/24
(Still available in all sizes)
I saw this top in-store during a trip to LB. The heathered rayon/poly/spandex fabric is super duper soft and very comfortable. It has a a slinky, silky feeling to it and drapes nicely. I thought it would be so cute with sleep shorts or panties or any of my PJ pants. When it was on sale online, I scooped it up. I don't have too many long-sleeved, around-the-house pajama tops, so the sleeves take a little bit of getting used to for me. The top itself is very comfy and cute and fits true to size. I tie the drawstring at my natural waist and then blouse it over. The top is originally $49.95, but is on sale for $34.99. I purchased it for $17.99.
Lane Bryant Marled Sleep Short with Striped Elastic Wasitband - 22/24
(Still available in a 14/16; Same style in different colors and fabrics available online)
I already knew the marled fabric was super soft and comfortable, so when I saw these sleep shorts on sale I grabbed them. I love pajamas and sleep shorts and find Lane Bryant to have the most comfy and cute options for my tastes. The waistband is very smooth, made of a striped elastic. It doesn't cut into you or become too tight as you move around. I think the lace around the hem is a cute feminine accent to a more plain and sporty short. I ended up buying a similar striped pajama short and a knit short at the same time. The shorts are originally $36.95 and on sale now for $19.99. I purchased them for $11.99.
Slink Jeans Ice Dye Ankle Jeggings in Passion Flower Purple - 24
(Still available in sizes 12, 14, 16, 18, 22, 24; on clearance for $44)
I saw that Slink was having a sale over Black Friday and just happened upon these jeans in the process. I have had my eye on them since they first came out. The purple ones have been on my Wish List for months now. When I saw they were on sale, I went ahead and decided to try them out. It is my first Slink purchase, but I don't think it will be my last. When I took the jeans out of the box, they seemed really big and more rectangular in the waist than I thought they should be. It is possible I could size down one because they feel just a tad loose, but they look great on in person and in the photos. The purple is really pretty as well. I cannot wait until it warms up a bit and I can wear these on a regular basis. I have a ton of outfit ideas for them. If you have a big difference between your waist and hip measurements, you may want to size down; or this could just be a brand that doesn't fit you well. I don't have enough experience with them to give you a definitive answer. They are stretchy and comfortable for sure. They are originally $88, on sale for $44 right now. I purchased them for $34.
Slink Jeans Believe in Yourself Hoodie - 3
(Still available and on clearance for $14)
I purchased this hoodie when I bought my jeans. I thought it was cute and I love the slogan on the front. At $14, I thought I could at least wear it around the house or possibly as a swim cover-up. I was surprised that the arm holes were so huge. They don't show the armhole on the website. It fits true to size otherwise. It is a comfy, stretchy knit. It is originally $28. I purchased it for, technically, $4. (I found a coupon code on top of the Black Friday deals.)
Eloquii Button Up Denim Skirt - 24
(Available online in a 22; On clearance for $12.97)
This literally just got bought up today because the price went down. As of this typing, it is still available in a 22. I tend to shy away from Eloquii. While I love their unique styles and the colors and patterns they offer, I find it to be too fancy for my more casual lifestyle. If I had an office job, I would probably buy from them a lot more. Anyway, I saw this cute denim skirt and decided I had to have it. I am wearing a 24 and find it fits true to size. Because I choose to wear my skirt a little higher than my natural waist, I feel like I could have probably sized down one. The back of the waistband is elastic, while the front and sides are not. The elastic slides down a little with wear because I wear it higher, but it isn't too bad. I am unsure whether the 22 would have adequate room at the top of the tummy for me, which is why I didn't return it. It also has pockets. I plan on wearing it with this Torrid shirt and my new Dansko plaid slip-on shoes for vacation. If you wear a 22, snap this puppy up! This skirt was originally $69.90. I purchased it for $16.99.
ModCloth Stylish Surprise Crop Top (Pros and Convertibles Button-Up Top) - 3X
(No longer available)
If you don't know about the Stylish Surprise from ModCloth, at least a couple times a year they offer a surprise purchase option for a discounted price (usually between $10 and $20.). So you pick from a category like apparel, shoes, or accessories and choose your size. They send you something in your size. Of course, this is a gamble because you might not like what you get or it may not fit you well. They do not except returns or exchanges on these items. Last Stylish Surprise (in the spring), I purchased two apparel items, receiving a striped three-quarter coat and this crop top. I posted the coat on Instagram at some point, but I haven't talked about this top yet. It looked really small when I took it out of the package, but it fits me perfectly. It is made of a non-stretch, cotton fabric, so I was worried about the fit. The armholes are a good size. The length isn't crazy short. The ties are easy to tie and undo. I love the color combination and pattern. I was pleasantly surprised by this piece and know it would never be something I just saw on the website and decided to get. Now I have my first crop top! I have worn it for Sexy Time, but have yet to wear it out. I think it looks super cute with my new Eloquii skirt though, so this will be a great summer outfit. This top was originally $39.99, but I bought the Stylish Surprise for $15.
Target Swim Top - Costa del Sol - 3X
(Available in 1X)
I was buying another pair of the Ava & Viv skinny jeans I love (they were 20% off) when I saw this swim top. It was on clearance, so I figured "what the hell?" I did buy a great swimsuit that I love (you've seen it in my last At Home Fitting Room post), but I wanted a separates outfit I could change into easily for snorkeling or what have you. I bought the 3X because I was worried about a 2X being too tight around me. Of course, buying a 3X made me worry the bust would be way too big. There is a little bit of extra room in the boob area, but overall it fits really nice. I wear a 40B bra, so if you have smaller boobage Target suits may be a great option for you. This is the only one I have tried thus far, but it really impressed me. It fits securely, but isn't too tight. The zipper feels secure and durable. I am super happy with this top. I am pairing it with some Old Navy Compression legging shorts and an Old Navy tank top for swimming. (See below) This top was originally $29.99. I purchased it for $10.48.
Old Navy Jersey Racerback Plus Size Tank - 3X
(No longer available online)
I knew I would wear this tank with my extra swimming outfit. It was on clearance at Old Navy when I was ordering swimsuits for Sean. I find that when Old Navy says "relaxed fit" in plus size, it usually means oversized, so I knew I would be good with the 3X. It is as long as I need it to be, fits my bust pretty well, but skims my tummy and hips. It is very similar in style to my "Beach Please" relaxed tank that you have seen on the blog before. The knit fabric is stretchy and comfortable. I liked that it was black and white because that meant it would go with pretty much anything I wear with it. Regularly $14.94, I bought it for less than $6.99 with an extra percentage off coupon.
Addition Elle Bonne Nuit Short Sleeved Pajama Top - 4X
(No longer available online)
These next two tops were my first purchase from Addition Elle. I had no idea what to expect in terms of sizing. I ended up ordering by the size chart measurements, so I bought a 4X. The Snuggle Up top had been on my Wish List for a bit. There was a 40% off deal over Black Friday, so I went for it. The fabric is a very soft, slinky, stretchy knit. It is very comfortable to wear. I love the criss-cross straps and longer length of this sleep top.It is pretty big on me though. I think it looks like it fits better in these photos, but I definitely could have sized down. I am wearing it with a bralette in this photo, but when I have no bra on it hangs a bit more and makes the neckline more open. Still, it went well with my Christmas PJs outfit and it is comfy. This top was regular $32. I bought it for $16.
Addition Elle Bonne Nuit Lace Front Tank Top - 4X
(On clearance for $6! Available in red and purple in sizes X - 4X; Available in black in a 2X)
This is the other Addition Elle piece I bought over Black Friday. Again, I went with a 4X based on the size chart. On the website, they have this top as a pajama top paired with a bralette and cute flannel shorts. The whole look appealed to me, but I thought this top would be great for Sexy Time. The 4X fits my hips and tummy well, but the bust is pretty big and baggy under the armpits. I don't think it looks terrible, but it doesn't quite fit how I envisioned. The lace isn't too scratchy, but it isn't super soft either. There is a HUGE tag on the side hem that rubs my tummy skin and makes loud crunching noises, so I need to cut that off. Regularly $29.00, I purchase the top for $14.50.
SWAK Designs Paradise Cami - 2X
(Available in 1x and 2x)
I have quite a few items from SWAK, though they are mostly a couple sizes bigger. I need to sell those and restock. I loved this colorful cami and decided to buy it during a big sale. I was hoping I could bring it along on my trip. I usually wear a 3X in SWAK pieces, but ordered a 2X in the cami knowing how flowy they are. The straps are not adjustable, which does create an issue for me because I do not have big boobs at all. I am going to have to shorten the straps myself. And obviously, I am going to have to hem this puppy too. This cami seemed way longer than my other Pretty Camis for some reason. I do not have time to hem it right now, so it won't be coming on the trip with me. Once I make the adjustments needed, it will be cute and great for summer. The fabric is a thinner, soft knit. It isn't see-through at all though. These camis also look really cute belted and bloused with skinny jeans. The top was regular $29.90. I purhcased it for $9.94.
Outlander Some Like It Scot Black T-shirt - 3X
(Available online in Small to 5X)
I am including this one for my Outlander fan friends. The Outlander Store was having a sale over Black Friday, so I went ahead and bought another t-shirt. Sometimes I get so excited when these "official" companies have my size that I forget they usually don't fit quite right. I bought the 3X from reading the size chart and wanting to play it safe and make sure it fit me. I totally could have sized down for the most part. The arms and sleeves are huge. The bust is huge and it is kind of long. I am going to hem it and take up the sleeves at the very least. I will say, it is made of a thicker, quality-feeling knit. Next sale, I may just get a sweatshirt because I don't mind if those are oversized. This tee is regular $26.95. I bought it for $21.56.
There you go! I hope you enjoyed this collection of evidence that I am a shopaholic. I hope you all have a wonderful rest of your January! I will see you back here in February!
Do you guys like to know what I paid for an item? Does talking about deals and coupon codes and the like help you?
