I don't know why I waited so long. Leggings are comfortable as all get out! I need to find more things I can wear them with in the cooler temperatures. I paired the leggings with this great colorblock dress from Lane Bryant. They still have this dress online and in every size!
The colorblock dress is great to me for many reasons: 1) I love the soft knit fabric, 2) love the overall length, 3) love the splash of bright pink!, 4) the sleeves actually go to my elbows, and 5) the cowl neckline is something I don't have in my closet.
I almost didn't try this dress on when I was shopping at the store. On the hanger, it looked like a giant shapeless rectangle of fabric. I decided to try it on solely based on the colors and the longer sleeves. I was pleasantly surprised when it turned out to be so cute! This dress has elastic in the waist to give it some shape, but it looks best paired with a belt. I think my only complaint is that I wish the skirt was a more full A-line.
I wore this comfy ensemble to a dinner party and game night with friends. My cousin Mindy made Smoked Salmon Chowder, while I brought the fixings for Pizookies! We feasted, drank wine, talked, and laughed. Then I busted out Cards Against Humanity. I know I've mentioned this game before, but haven't explained too much about it in a post.
Cards Against Humanity
is "a party game for horrible people". (That's their tagline, not mine. lol) It is a great group card game meant to be silly and offensive. If you have a twisted sense of humor, you will LOVE this game. I've had many friends buy it based on my recommendation. After they play it, they are hooked! The basic premise is that each person takes turns reading a black card that contains a question or fill-in-the-blank type sentence. The other players choose from their hand of ten white cards to answer the question or fill in the blank. The ten cards in a players' hand are filled with names of random people, places, activities, bodily functions or parts, etc. Some can be pretty offensive on their own or even more so (and HILARIOUS) when played in a round. These are some tame examples:

The dress is super cute- great buy, and I think the card game sounds totally awesome! I think that will be a great little stocking stuffer for some like-minded friends!

I bought this dress on clearance a few weeks ago but have since felt kind of "meh" about it. I will say it looks dang good with a wide, high-waisted belt, just like you're wearing it. Well, I wore the dress out shopping, styled with the thick belt, tights, and gray boots over the weekend, and I got three compliments from women in one store! It made me rethink my little color-blocked number and wonder if people were seeing something else in it that I wasn't...
ReplyDeleteSeeing it on your makes me think that if it looks like that I'm me, I am looking cute in it too! It's a really comfy dress too, and I love the sleeve length. I have so many 3/4 length sleeves, so something that hits at the elbow is a nice change. Plus, it's got a pop of pink in it, so that's always a selling point for me!
I will say it's weird looking through your blog and seeing you wearing so many items that I own. Most blogs I read don't have many outfits featuring Lane Bryant items. It's all Torrid, Simply Be, Evans, Maurice's, etc. It's nice to see that someone else finds pieces I've bought stylish enough to share on her blog.

Hey there! I am sure you look great in this dress! The pink was definitely a selling point for me too. The pink is probably the number 1 reason I decided to try it on at all. lol It is definitely so comfy. I look forward to wearing it again.
ReplyDeleteYou know, you are right about the lack of Lane Bryant clothing in blogs. I've noticed that too. TONS of Torrid on blogs though. I find Torrid very, very hit or miss lately. I tried on a few things a couple weeks ago and they were just slightly off. Like a top would be GREAT...except for this one thing that was a big enough deal that I couldn't possibly buy it.
I find Lane Bryant to have the best sales and have things that are age appropriate enough for me, but also very versatile. They generally have things I can dress up or down or accessorize easily. I'm so glad you can relate. :-) I am definitely a Lane Bryant girl.
