What I Wore: Black Cat

DivineMrsDiva.com - X-Two Velly Cardigan via Gwynnie Bee, Lane Bryant Genius Fit Skinny Jean

I hope you are all having a great week!  Today's outfit contains a couple reviews and a little introduction to the brand X-Two.  Formed in the Netherlands in 2000, X-Two provides simple but fashionable pieces in sizes 14 to 30.  You can read more of the brand spotlight on the Gwynnie Bee blog and visit the brand's website.  This sweater is the first item I have tried from the brand.

Before I get into the sweater, I want to mention the jeans.  These black Genius Fit skinny jeans from Lane Bryant are super comfortable and fit really well.  As you can see, they aren't crazy long on me either.  (For reference, I am 5'9" and am wearing these jeans in a size 24.)  I've owned various styles of the Genius Fit, but I feel like the more recent styles I bought hold their shape a lot better.  My distressed skinny jeans I've worn on the blog are also Genius Fit, but in a size 22 (purchased at an LB Outlet store).  Recently, I acquired a regular dark wash Genius Fit skinny that I had to return because the torso was way too long and bagged up in the crotch.  If you are able to try them on, and in multiple sizes, do it...just in case.  This isn't solely on Lane Bryant though because the shape of my body is changing a little, and I feel like I am kind of in between sizes at the moment.

This sweater is the Velly Cardigan from X-Two that I borrowed via Gwynnie Bee.  While the sweater isn't available via the brand any longer, it is available to try through your GB subscription.

I was really impressed with the quality and luxe look of the sweater.  The sophisticated leopard print adds a touch of dressy whether you are wearing it with jeans or a dress.  It looks very expensive overall, which lends quality to less expensive items you might wear it with.  The lace and pearl details are a great embellishment along the zipper; the mauve-colored pearls are such a fun, girly accent.  The actual material of the sweater is soft and stretchy, but sturdy.  It feels like a well-made garment.

I'm wearing this sweater in a 4, which translates to a 24/26.  While the fit was great in the bust and arms, I think I would need to size up for it to fit my hips comfortably.  The one I am wearing did zip, it was just too tight for my liking. If that hadn't been an issue, I would have seriously considered buying this sweater.

I really wanted this sweater to be the standout in the outfits I chose, so I went with two all black ensembles, a very rare thing for me to do. I kept the accessories simple and just changed up the core outfit.  I really love both looks for their versatility.  Plus, black never goes out of style.

Have you tried this cardigan or anything from the X-Two brand?  What would you pair this sweater with?

  1. I tried a couple of the tunics and really liked them...they were super-comfy and soft. They were that sort of in-between shirt & dress length, but were fine w/ leggings. I ordered them in a 5 and thought that was about right...I probably could have gone down, but then it would have maybe needed some shapewear, and that utterly defeats the purpose of wearing a baggy tunic and leggings.

    That sweater is really cute...

It's probably really sad that I wear all black a lot. Heh.

  2. I actually think the X-two stuff is pretty reasonable (unlike Johnny Was, which I loved the pieces I tried but could not justify the cost of keeping...). If I remember correctly, it's a little lower or around the same price point as Kiyonna.
