In the last year or so, I have been trying to push my boundaries and try new things. This not only applies to fashion, but life experiences, speaking up for myself, trying new food, listening to new music, etc. One of the things that I have tried in the past year is the wrap dress. It is such a great staple in a wardrobe for a quick and easy ensemble that can be simply accessorized. I was very averse to them because I could never find one that looked good on me. If you have followed the blog for a while then you know the Velvet Luxe Maxi changed the game for me. (You can also check me out in the All Work and Play Wrap Dress here.)
When I saw this gorgeous wrap dress come up on Kiyonna's website, I was so drawn to the fluttery sleeves and pretty teal color. Read on for my review....

The Captivating Crochet Wrap Dress comes in the colors "Playful Peacock" (pictured here) and "Passion Fruit", a delicious raspberry pink. As I mentioned, these romantic flutter sleeves really drew me in. I love that they provide coverage, but are made of a crochet lace that still shows some skin. This same crochet lace is featured on the waist ties. I also love the added texture and interest the lace provides.
The fabric is a stretchy poly/spandex blend that provides a comfortable fit and wear. I am wearing this dress in a 3X and feel it is pretty true to size. The bust might have been too big for me if I sized up. The waist on this dress is a little lower than the All Work and Play Dress, so it changed the fit for me a bit. I also think the wider waistband on the All Work and Play Dress helped it fit me better as well. The Captivating Crochet Wrap Dress is a bit more fitted in the waist area for me, so it does show more lumps and bumps. I am wearing shapewear in these photos, but it still didn't smooth everything out for me. That said, I thought the back looked great, while the bust was a perfect fit. The a-line skirted portion skims out over the hips. At 5'9", the hem hit me just below the knee.
This dress would be a fantastic special occasion dress for a number of events. I also feel that it would travel well because it didn't seem to wrinkle easily at all. I chose to keep my accessories very simple because the sleeves are the statement of this ensemble. Nude wedges kept the look a little more casual and didn't take attention away from the dress. An amber-colored sparkly necklace rounded out the look.

I wore this dress out to a tasty dinner with Sean to celebrate the ten year anniversary of our first date. On our way out, we had to stop and take selfies and admire the gorgeous sunset.
