We have finally made it to the last day of my reunion trip home to South Carolina.  If you need to get caught up, you can read about my visit with my sister in Savannah, fun at Homecoming, the Meat N Greet Picnic, the Reunion Party, Picture Day on Sunday, and cheering on my friend Brandon at his gig!  WHEW!

Today's post is a pretty chill look at our last day in town before heading back to my sister's in Savannah and on back home.  I took some outfit photos at the Riverwalk (where I had plenty of childhood memories to look back on), had lunch with Brandon, and played Putt-Putt with Sean before our two hour drive to Savannah.  It was a bittersweet day of reflection, goodbyes, and a full heart happy with love and reconnection.



First, let's start with my outfit.  I bought this maxi dress at the Torrid Outlet in Savannah during my shopping day with my sister.  It was on clearance for roughly $15, and I just had to have it!  I'm glad I bought it because it came in handy.  It was hot and humid and I didn't feel like dealing with sleeves.  It was a perfect relaxed look for a leisurely day.  There is a similar dress in olive on the website right now.

Below, you can see all my outfits for the reunion portion of my trip.  I feel like this capsule wardrobe was a perfect example of my style and sensibility, making me feel pretty and authentic during such a momentous occasion that can be fraught with anxiety and insecurity.



Sean and I checked out of the hotel and took photos along the Riverwalk.  I told him about how my class had come to the Riverwalk in 5th grade for some trip, and this kind boy in class gave me a fabric wall hanging of the New Kids. (Thanks, Brian! I still have it.)  When my dad died my senior year, I traveled 3,000 miles to go to his funeral, and ended up at the amphitheater with friends to see the series finale of Seinfeld while I was in town.  (My poor friends tried so hard to cheer me up.)  There are many memories that flooded me as I looked around and remembered feelings, people, situations from what seemed like so long ago.

From the Riverwalk, we drove out to have lunch with Brandon. He was kind enough to spend his lunch break with us, laughing and talking and eating chips and cheese dip.  I hugged him goodbye and got him to take one last photo with me.

Then Sean and I decided to go play Putt-Putt at this awesome place down the street.  We don't really have Putt-Putt up here, at least not like this.  Mini golf was my JAM as a kid.  We played there so many times.  I tried to push my sadness away and just enjoy having the course all to ourselves for the afternoon.  After our game (Sean won, of course), we grabbed milkshakes and began our drive back to Savannah.  During the little road trip, I came down with a major migraine.  It can happen to me when I don't get enough sleep or there is too much excitement in a short period of time.  Traveling and constant go-go-go is really hard on my body sans thyroid, so I just have to be more mindful.

But once we got to my sister's, despite my migraine, we attended my nephew's first band concert of the year.  He is playing the trombone and I really wanted to support him.  It was tough, but the program was short.  I was able to get back to my sister's house and get some sleep.  We had one final day with my sister, most of it spent slowly doing laundry and repacking, before we headed back home.

I hope you enjoyed my play-by-play of the trip.  It was such an important experience for me and onet I had been hoping for for decades.  I am so glad I was able to go home and see so many special people. It is definitely a trip I will always look back on with so much love and happiness.
