This month's theme is: Fall Favorite.

What I Wore: Sartorial Medley - Fall Favorite

For me, this theme is all about my fall uniform or ideal go-to fall ensemble.  As you know, I am crazy about my wide calf boots, having searched high and low for a long time to find some that fit me correctly.  I pull them out as early as I can and wear them every chance I get.  I have always had luck with boots from Avenue, though I can't say that I have tried on too many other brands.  I do know that as someone with a 21-inch calf size, the stretchy and lace-up Avenue boots fit me great!  My calves are now 19 inches, so I have a few more options but I still go back to Avenue.  (PS - If you need a pair of boots to fit your 21-inch calves, my lace-up pair are too big now and I need to sell them.  Email me.)

What I Wore: Sartorial Medley - Fall Favorite (Flor via Gwynnie Bee Mauve Lily Skater Dress)

So let's build my favorite fall look!  I started with this Flor skater dress via a recent Gwynnie Bee shipment.  Flor is a GB house brand that is only available through the Gwynnie Bee service.  While I don't feel the material is high quality (it's a polyester that seems to pill easily), I do feel that they are well made.  I love the silhouettes, patterns, and colors in the Flor line.  I just wish they would up their game with better fabrics.  This particular dress has a crossover V-neckline and a fuller than A-line skirt.  I love the style and ease of this dress.  The length is a little short for me on its own, so using it in a fall look with leggings is ideal for me.  The muted pinks, purples, and greens are so pretty.  I really do adore the unique patterns this brand uses in their garments.  (You may also remember that this blue and green leopard look is a Flor dress.)  I am wearing this dress in a 3X.  They carry up to a 5X.

Cute dress. Leggings. Boots.  Check!  This sweater turned out to be the perfect shade of teal green to match the leaves in the pattern of the dress.  I lucked out with that.  I love the over-sized, cozy look of the outfit with the sweater that adds to that "fall" feel.  Finally, I added this gorgeous pink-toned, burgundy, sequined scarf I picked up recently from Wal-Mart of all places.  I don't shop there much, but the sequins caught my eye and I had to have this one.  They had a TON of colors in this soft knit with mini sequins scattered throughout.

  1. I'm not sure it's warm enough here for that outfit, but I'd be willing to risk it, it's lovely. It could easily work for spring and summer, too, with a slight accessories change of course :) .

  2. Thanks for this recipe. I love rosemary but never much of a variety of recipes that call for it. How about lavender? I'd like to incorporate that flavor into some recipes. Do you think this recipe would work with lemon and lavender in place of strawberry and rosemary?

  3. I think it looks fine without the leggings, too :) But the cardigan & scarf are nice accents. (You, attracted to sparkles? NUH UH! Lol). This outfit greatly resembles my work attire for much of the winter, although I'm not always wearing a cardigan. It's hot as hell in my office.

  4. Of course I love this print: the whimsical Seuss-ified florals, the watercolor print, and the mix of pastels and jewel tones. Just lovely! I appreciate your honest review of the dress and brand Flor. I'm disappointed they're only available through Gwynnie Bee. More motivation to try another subscription, I guess!

I'll have to participate in this month's Sartorial Medley, too. I think I have just the outfit in mind! Like you, I love layering, scarves, overpieces, leggings/tights, and boots for fall. The look I have in mind includes most of these elements as well.

I think you wear this outfit beautifully, and I love how you pulled the ruby and teal out of the print for your accessories. I'm definitely on board with mixing brown and black, too. It keeps things interesting and walks this fine line between being dressed up and dressed down. It's a great tip for dressing down something extravagant like a pretty dress...or say...a flouncy black tulle skirt I just bought. With brown boots, I think I can make it absolutely wearable for the everyday!

Can't wait to hear about Vegas!

  5. I think that would work. I LOVE that combination! There is a local company that makes lemon lavender shortbread cookies that are my absolute favorite. I think I am going to try that for a Christmas baked goods exchange I have coming up. Thank you for the inspiration!

  6. I loved that about the colors too! It could easily transition into other seasons. It was approaching being just cold enough before we left for vacation. While we were away, the temps dropped dramatically; they had crazy wind and snow. Now it is definitely chilly enough for this ensemble.

  7. I loved the extra color the cardigan and scarf added. I don't typically wear a scarf anywhere but outside because I get too warm (especially in retail places or other people's houses because they act like they need a major thaw out or something)....I do LOVE the patterns and colors and styles that Flor has, but once this one came I could really see what you meant about the fabric. I honestly can't believe this dress retails for $153. BUT I did see that the animal print one is on GB Shop for $20 and I think that is way more reasonable.

  8. I've tried lemon/lavender shortbread cookies! So good...if the lavender is in the right proportion. Sometimes the bakers get a bit carried away. Good luck with your cookies. I hope you'll post the results. : )

  9. I think GB's retail prices are bullshit because they are the ones producing that line of clothing.
