I am a proud lover of all things sparkly, glittery, metallic, sequined, or rhinestoned. The shininess beckons me at all turns. So you can imagine my squeals of delight when the holidays creep up and so many retailers put out shimmering clothing options. Kiyonna is serving up some luxe and shine for their Holiday Collection with sequins, velvet, lace, and shimmer! Not too long ago, they introduced this Limited Edition Metallic Mesh Top that called to me with its gold-flecked siren song.
- I am part of the Kiyonna Blogger Brigade. Kiyonna gifted me the top in this post. All opinions on the item are 100% my own. -
When I received the Metallic Mesh Top (in a 3X) in the mail, I immediately pulled it out of the box and tried it on. It is shimmery without being overdone (although, like I said, I welcome overdone shimmer too). It is one of those tops that can go with jeans or slacks or a nice skirt easily. The fabric feels stretchy and smooth, not scratchy at all.
Sometimes I can have an issue with this style of top being too baggy in the bust for me. I just happen to be one of those plus-sized girls with a smaller cup size. This top fits the girls perfectly though! It actually enhanced them in a pleasing way, without being overly showy. The poly/spandex material has a lot of stretch and drapes beautifully along the bust and waistline. The ruched empire waist stays put and is a wide enough band to keep the top from giving a maternity silhouette.
I am wearing a 3X and find it fits true to size. There is room in the tummy region of the top without being over-sized. It is just a great fit all around. I am not wearing any shapewear and chose to wear a regular black bra. The straps are not very noticeable through the sheer shoulders, back, and sleeves of the top. Speaking of the sleeves, they were form fitting to my larger upper arms, but were not too tight or uncomfortable in the slightest. I even felt they acted as shapewear to my arms and made them look a little more toned.
I was really delighted by the excellent fit of this top! If you have any special dinners, work functions, or holiday parties to attend, this would be a festive and versatile piece to mix and match separates and accessories with. I highly recommend it!
I paired this top with black jeans, strappy wedges, and sparkling accessories for dinner out with a friend. While I stayed comfortable, the Metallic Mesh Top was a great statement piece that dressed up my look with ease. This is also my first time wearing this City Chic jacket I scored on clearance in the spring. I will do a review on it in a future post. City Chic carries similar styles, so I feel that it will still be a relevant review.
Sean and I have been trying to go out to a new restaurant every couple of months with our friend Nigel (and whoever else will join us at the time). This month, we ventured to an Italian place called Burrasca in Portland. The seasonal Tuscan menu is simple and elegant with delightful flavor pairings. I was particularly delighted by the dessert - a spiced chestnut flour cake with hints of orange and a whipped dessert wine topping. The owner of the restaurant, who grew up in Tuscany, said his mom used to make it for him as a child. The spiced flavor really put me in a fall mood!

I also loved my makeup that evening!! I used Makeup Geek pigments in Liquid Gold and Utopia to mimic the gold sparkles in the top. You can't see it well in the photo, but my lids were covered with glitter. This being the case, I kept the lips toned down using Colourpop lippie stix in Contempo and Trixie layered together. The warm bronzed pink blush is Quarters by Colourpop.
