It started snowing a couple weekends ago, which was met with a flurry of activity in our backyard as birds and squirrels (plus bunnies and a possum) stocked up on food before the cold and ice set in. As you know, I love watching all these beautiful creatures and got a fair amount of video as well!
You can find the videos in my YouTube Shorts:
- Birds, including the Dark-Eyed Junco, Scrub Jay, Song Sparrow, Bushtit, Cooper's Hawk, and Spotted Towhee
- Squirrels, featuring my friends Thackery and Crispin
- Steller's Jays
You can also see more of my backyard friends in the following posts:
This is Thackery. He loves to stop by for chats, neighborhood news, and peanut time! |
Steller's Jays. We have four regulars who show up almost every day. |
Lots of Dark-Eyed Juncos are out every day! They love all the seeds. |
I love when Golden-Crowned Sparrows puff up and get all round! |
This is a teeny little Bushtit. They are about the size of a golf ball and typically wander in groups. When they stop by, we can have up to 20 bushtits on the feeder at one time. |
The Cooper's Hawk is a sight to behold! One murdered a yellow bird in our yard in the spring and I do not want a repeat. He didn't stay long. |
Dobby enjoys slow morning watching the yard animals with us. |
Finn's okay with the snow for about 3 minutes. |
