I live a rather casual lifestyle, so my favorite outfits are ones that stick with my definition of my personal style - comfy, cute, and casual.  Y'all know I love my accessories, my sparkles, my feminine details, color, and prints.  I also love to get out of my comfort zone, but today's outfit really sticks to my three Cs.




I wore this look for my most recent KATU segment, so you can see it in action if you haven't watched my segment yet.  I started with the Black Floral Jersey Raglan Skater Dress from Torrid.  I love, love, love these knit skater dresses that Torrid carries throughout the year.  I tend to buy the ones that come in pretty prints whenever I can.  I am wearing a 3 in this dress and find it fits pretty true to size. Sometimes the 3s can cling a little to my back fat, so when I buy a solid version of this same style I tend to size up to a 4.  Prints are more forgiving in camouflaging the rolls, but solid colors can make them obvious.  The 3 isn't tight by any means, but it is just a bit more fitted across my back than a 4.

The hem on the newer skater dresses seems to be slightly high-low, so it comes to right above the knee in front and a little lower in the back.  This is only an issue for me because it seems just short enough that my undershorts can easily show.  I wear the cute lace-trimmed undershorts from Zerdocean, but I also ended up buying some slightly shorter bike shorts from Torrid recently.  It could be that my Zerdocean ones are just finally stretching out enough that they are longer (I've worn them a LOT). That's my only real gripe though.  The sleeves are elbow-length (which I love) and the fabric is super soft, stretchy, and comfortable to wear.  I also bought the dark purple version of this style that has floral sleeves.


Because I wanted to layer a little for the cooler weather, and I wanted to look a little more sporty in talking about hiking essentials on television, I donned my green utility vest.  I bought this particular one from Target a couple years ago, along with a navy version, and love that the green brings out some more color in the print.

Recently, I also decided to delve back into headbands.  I wear my hair down all the time because I like the way it looks, but sometimes I want to change things up a smidge.  It is really hard to find proper clip options for my favorite half-up 'do, so I thought I would try out some headband styles.  I think these wire bow headbands are cute and fun.  I was able to get six for less than $10 on Amazon.  With the solid vest breaking up the print of the dress, I think the black and white print headband works pretty well.  I felt super cute and received lots of compliments.  I think I prefer the knot style headbands to these, but these are lively little accessories that add personality.  They just feel more summery to me for some reason.  They do fit my giant head and are comfortable to wear.  I'm glad I bought them.
