What I Wore: Bright and Happy

DivineMrsDiva.com - SWAK Designs via Gwynnie Bee Lucy Maxi Dress in Coral Abstract

Sometimes an all-over print can be intimidating, especially when it comes in bright colors.  But you don't have to be afraid!  I love bright colors and prints because they make me happy.  I always hope that, by wearing something that makes me happy, I can pass some happiness along to someone else too.

Enter this fantastic dress from SWAK that arrived in my Gwynnie Bee package.  I knew the style was great because it is the same style as the Sabrina maxi from SWAK, but I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about the pattern.  Putting it on though, I absolutely loved it!  It is fun and vibrant with shades that can work year round.

I adore the deep V-neck and flowing skirt that makes me feel so feminine and lovely.  I anchored the pattern with a black shrug and added a bold necklace with brushed silver shapes.  For reference, I am 5'9" and this 3X dress hit the floor when I put it on.  I am wearing black wedges with this look.

  1. I never look good in the stuff I get from swak. I love this dress on you.

  2. I am in love with this print! I'm sure I saw it on the site, as I browse SWAK fairly frequently, but I must not have noticed it. I love prints that combine colors in surprising ways, and I like the mix of cool and warm tones in this one. It makes it harder to define as a spring, summer, or fall dress, meaning it can work across all three seasons!

I'm totally with you on wearing what makes me happy and dressing to become happier. I definitely believe that what I wear influences my mood and conveys to others how I'm feeling and what my personality is like. If I can use fashion to project the positive, I will!

I do embrace all-over patterns, as I'm sure you know. Currently, I'm trying to embrace more solid separates or versatile prints that I can better mix and match. I have so many dresses but not many separates to combine in different ways. As far as SWAK...it's another brand I've yet to order from! I've spied several dresses from them that I've liked, but as I've said, I'm so slow to order from new online brands that I haven't tried on before. I need to get over myself, I know. lol

  3. This dress is beautiful! I am a bit of a pattern freak so seeing me in it head to toe is not unusual, especially mixing them. I just found your blog & look forward to reading more!

  4. It is definitely difficult when ordering from brands you have never tried on. That is definitely a place where Gwynnie Bee has come in handy for me because I have a way better idea about sizing via various brands. I always second guess myself when I order from somewhere new. Most everything I have tried via SWAK has been great. Obviously I love the Amber shrugs and the "Pretty camis and tops" but I do order down a size in all of those. The dresses I have tried so far are all true to size, but I do own a 4X in this same style that still fits good. If you get a chance to hit them up during one of the major sales, give it a go! They have some great solid separates and some great prints too.

As for this dress, I really don't think I would have paid attention to it via their website because the mix of cool and warm tones seems a bit strange at first. It really is great in person though. I was surprised at how much I loved it. It made me really excited to prance around!
