Jord (pronounced “Yode”) is a St. Louis-based company, where they work consistently to develop new watch designs using a mix of natural (and largely reclaimed) materials  with quality movements and components.

Cora Polaris Review

I chose the Cora Polaris design to review.  The warm rose gold metal called to me.  It is such a feminine design, offering beautiful shimmer and sparkle, with the natural beauty of the wood being showcased as well.  I adore the contrast of the walnut wood with the metallic accents.  Add to that the sparkling Swarovski crystals, arranged to depict the stars of the Little Dipper, that adorn the midnight blue face.  I love looking through the small window in the face to see the little components move inside.This watch is even more beautiful in person!  I was truly in awe of it when it arrived.

Speaking of which, it arrived in a very nice, well-packed box with a preserving finishing oil for the wooden elements of the watch, and a polishing cloth for cleaning.  It has a nice weight to it without being incredibly heavy.  It feels well-made and luxurious.  The process of getting the watch sized was also very quick and easy.  I took it to my local jeweler, who sized the watch in a matter of minutes for under $10.  The clasp is sturdy and easy to get on and off with one hand.  I stopped wearing watches when I couldn’t find any to fit my chubby wrist. Now this one fits me like a glove with no worries.


The Cora Polaris is a self-winding automatic watch, which means it doesn’t require a battery and has a 40-hour power reserve that is maintained through hand-winding and the natural movement of your body.  The second-hand is so smooth as it glides along with the time.  While these designs are splash-proof, it is not a good idea to fully submerge them.
