Her Universe Summer Collection: Rey Zip-Up Vest Review

Her Universe Summer Collection: Rey Zip-Up Vest Review - DivineMrsDiva.com

I'm back today with a fun piece from the new Her Universe summer collection that was introduced at San Diego Comic-Con recently!  I've been a Star Wars fan since I was a wee lass, so it makes me happy to have some fun fangirl clothing.

Life feels a little chaotic right now because we've moved everything out of our bedroom in order to paint it top to bottom.  We are going full-force painting the moulding, the walls, the ceiling, our dressers - everything.  The whole house is topsy-turvy.  On an errand break, we stopped into our favorite wooded park for stillness with nature.  It was quiet except for birdsong in the canopy above.  This also served as a research trip for the new bedroom decor theme of 'Nature-Inspired'.  (Looking forward to sharing all that with you when we're done!!)

Read on for my review of the Rey Zip-Up Vest...

Before we get started, I am 5'9", typically wear a 22/24, wear a 40B bra, a size 11 wide shoe, and my measurements are 52/49/58.

The Star Wars Rey Zip-Up Vest is available in sizes XS to 3X in "regular"* sizes and 12 to 28 in plus sizes.  It features an embroidered Jedi symbol, a buckle and strap detail, and full zipper.  It's made of 100% cotton fabric but has zero stretch.  The fabric is a thicker, sturdier, canvas-feeling material.
* I put "regular" in quotes because the usual term of "straight sizes" just feels wrong to me. It just means, "not plus size".

I'm wearing the size 3 in Plus.  It zips up but is a little snug in the hips just because the fabric has no stretch.  It wasn't binding or uncomfortable that way, but sat a little higher because I have a larger lower tummy and butt.  My other fit issue is simply that the bust is a bit big on me, but I run into that problem with most clothing. I'm hoping I can just take in on the sides using my sewing machine.

I love the embroidered detail. It looks really nice.  The strap is completely decorative, but the buckle does open and it's pretty heavy duty, so you could hang some keys or something through it if you really needed to.  The vest pockets are functional and placed well.  Also, the lining is this amazing scene of the Millenium Falcon and TIE fighters flying across Jakku.  It's pretty cool!  As a lifelong nerd, even Sean was impressed with the lining.

The vest is part of the San Diego Comic-Con collection, so it is exclusive to the con and HerUniverse.com. It retails for $59.90 and is still available in all sizes.
