For our first time eating in a restaurant since March of last year, we decided to take Sean's mom out to dinner for Mother's Day at one of our favorite eating establishments.  It felt like a big deal to me, so I wanted to get dressed up and make it special.

My recent Torrid order had been delayed, but I was super excited when it showed up in time for me to wear this dress out!  And even though I was rushing around trying to remember how to get ready, I took a few impromptu outfit photos to share with you!

The Blue Floral Super Soft Tie-Front Skater Dress is a soft, knit frock that is incredibly comfortable.  I'm definitely less into fussy fabrics than I ever was before (though there are some exceptions - *cough* sequins *cough*), so comfort and lack of wrinkling are very important to me.  I bought this dress in a size 4 (26) because I have gained some weight in Quarantine and wanted to make sure it wasn't too fitted in places I wish it wasn't.  I was worried, however, that the bust might be a little big considering the fact that I do have small boobs "for a plus-size lady".  

Thankfully, the 4 worked out great!  The straps are adjustable, so I could customize the fit a bit.  The tie-front detail at the bust is so cute and lends a playfulness and almost retro vibe to the look.  It's timeless but fun.  I also appreciate the open sweetheart neckline and waist detail that acts kind of like a belt to define a bit (without the issue of fussing with a belt!).  The length is also pretty perfect for me, stopping right at the knee.  I do quite enjoy this dress and hope other prints and colors pop up during the season.  The blue floral dress is still available in sizes 10 to 18/20.  Currently, it is also available in black, coral, and leopard print.

Since we were going out to dinner, I was also excited about accessorizing.  I just didn't want to overpower the print on this dress.  So I opted to play up the turquoise and teal colors with a cropped cardigan and my little floral jellies.  Neither one of these items seem to be available, though you can still purchase the cardigan style at ModCloth.  They also carry new colors throughout the year, so it may very well come back.

I was nervous to go out since I have mostly been in my house the last year or so, but we had a lovely time.  The food was delicious, the drinks were great, and the waiter was an older gentleman that reminded me of Joe Biden, which I found really funny.  We walked around the grounds later (the restaurant is also part of a hotel/winery/brewery/golf course/garden situation) taking photos and looking at all the plants in bloom.  I think it was a splendid first outing that made me feel more comfortable with stepping foot out of the house on occasion now that we are vaccinated.
