I really love the way this look came together, plus I felt super cute in it. It was a steal of a deal, and you know I am always excited to talk about those. Let's get into it!
Let's talk about the Blue Spot Floral Dress from City Chic! I happened upon this style as I was casually browsing their website. They recently had a huge sale with some amazing deals to be had. Definitely keep an eye on the sales! Originally, this dress was $120. I bought it for $10. While this particular dress is no longer available through City Chic, I have seen it on Poshmark. I will also link a few similar styles below.
I've been trying to be very mindful of my shopping habits and haven't been buying things at the same volume I used to. Coming across this sale though, I went ahead and bought a few $10 items from City Chic to try. I've had great experiences with fit on City Chic bottoms like skirts, but tops have been a bit oversized and boxy in fabrics that have no stretch and don't appeal to me. I thought I would try a few dresses again to check on fit. And at $10 each, it didn't feel like a huge disappointment if they didn't work out.
However, all the items I bought from the sale were things that fit pretty well and made me happy. The Blue Spot Floral Dress is made of a polyester fabric that is more prone to wrinkles, but it is lightweight and moves well. The dress has a faux-wrap look with an elasticized waistband, tie belt, tulip hem, and ruffles at the neckline and hem. It reminds me of one of my favorite Kiyonna styles, the Flirty Flounce Wrap Dress. I love the silhouette and print, which are the main reasons I decided to purchase. I am wearing the XXL, which translates to a size 24 at City Chic. Overall the fit is fantastic. I was worried the hemline may be a little short, but it fell just past my knees. My only complaints are that the bust is just a little big (but that is an issue I have with most brands because I am a plus-size woman with a smaller bust), and I wish the neckline ruffle extended all the way around the garment instead of stopping over the shoulder.
I wore this look to a small family gathering the other weekend. Our friends were supposed to get married this year but due to the pandemic, they postponed the wedding until next year. Then they decided they would go ahead and get married in front of family members with a quick and casual ceremony at their place. Sean became ordained in order to marry them this year, so he put together a short and sweet script for the nuptials.
I accessorized the dress with nude-hued criss-cross sandals. I bought them on Zulily because I already know how the Comfortiva brand fits my feet. I am wearing an 11 wide and found them pretty comfortable for a few hours of an event. The color is called "Rose", but they really didn't have a pink-tinge at all. That's totally fine for my needs, but they did look more blush online.
In addition to the shoes, I added a rhinestone headband in an orange tone that perfectly match the flowers in the dress. And I finally was able to wear this great flower bouquet necklace I bought from a local artist during the bi-annual arts fair we love to go to, Crafty Wonderland. I've missed being able to attend all these great local events this year, so wearing the necklace made me happy.
