Today's look is one of the crop top examples I used in my latest Afternoon Live segment on breaking the plus size fashion rules. It features this cropped sweater from Leith, a Nordstrom brand I only recently found out about. I love remixing this tartan dress with other colors and items in my closet, so pairing this new top with this dress was the first thing that came to mind.

Before we get started, I am 5'9", typically wear a 22/24, wear a 40B bra, a size 11 wide shoe, and my measurements are 52/49/58.
As I mentioned, Leith is a new-to-me brand carried at Nordstrom that I found out about through Rebecca of The Plus Side of Me. (You can follow her on Instagram and YouTube.) She often shares items she is trying on via her InstaStories or YouTube videos, and I happened to catch one such try-on of this ribbed wrap sweater. She tried it in an XL, which surprised me. We are roughly the same size (though she typically wears a size larger than me while I am about five inches taller), but I have a pretty good idea about how something may look on me when she tries it on. I love, love, love this magenta color, so I decided to go ahead and risk it and buy an XL. (For the record, Leith's size chart says their XL is equivalent to a size 16.) This particular style is no longer available online, but Leith carries regular and plus sizes, with some oversized pieces like this one that could work for folks at different sizes.
I do have plenty of wiggle room in this faux wrap sweater. I almost think I could size down, but the drop shoulder seam in the arm could have possibly been just a smidge fitted in a smaller size. Still, this sweater is cozy without being too thick, and super stretchy and comfortable. I love the lower v-neck for layering, and the color is so vibrant and lovely.
I paired this cropped sweater with my Outlander tartan dress from Torrid. You've seen this dress on the blog plenty of times (particularly here and here), so I won't go over it again. It occasionally comes back in stock in varying sizes on Torrid, but I have linked a similar dress below. I love finding new things to pair with this dress because it is one of my favorites!
Also new to me is this Outlander coat, also from Torrid. It ended up coming back in stock over on Hot Topic while I was out of town in September. I couldn't help myself and had to snatch it up really quick! I am wearing a 4 and find it fits mostly true to size. The main issue for me is that the bust is a little bigger, but sizing down would have made the coat much more fitted. I wanted to be able to wear more things underneath, so I opted for the larger size. I love the look of Claire's Riding Coat, along with the Outlander/Scotland-themed lining. While it certainly isn't the most practical outerwear I own, I'm glad I bought it.
For accessorizing, I love to wear my oxfords with this tartan dress. I love the vintage look it creates and feel super cute in the combo. I'm wearing these Comfortiva Reddell Oxfords in an 11 wide. They are still available on Amazon. My other nod to Outlander is this standing stones clutch I received in an Outlander-themed subscription box. I love how the magenta in the sweater pulls out similar tones from the clouds in the stones illustration. My necklace is my "I'm A Fucking Warrior" necklace from Metal Marvels that I bought for myself as a five-years-cancer-free gift. I love wearing it for the little reminders throughout the day that I'm a badass. If you aren't opposed to curse words, they have some fun jewelry and housewares.
