Back over Labor Day weekend, Sean and I decided to get out of the house and take the boys for a little road trip. We've been wanting to make more time for a little hiking, so we ventured out towards Mt. Hood for a scenic drive and walking amongst nature. It was fun to breathe the fresh air, look at the glorious scenery, and take photos along the way.
We packed up the car with waters and some snacks and headed out to Elk Meadows and Sahalie Falls Trailhead. We parked there and followed the path to Sahalie Falls. The woods are, of course, beautiful. I am obsessed with trees and the way the light falls through them, and the shape of the branches and texture of the trunks. I adore trees. We saw a deer in the woods as soon as we got there. It was very quiet and serene. As it was a holiday weekend, there were quite a few people passing us on the trail, but all were very friendly despite Dobby and Finn barking and growling.
The path down to the falls was quite steep, so we turned around and went back to the car. We ended up driving to the falls to take more photos. On our way home, we stopped at White River West Sno-Park to watch the sunset and take even more photos. We ate some cheese and crackers in the car, which is tradition for us on road trips.
Dobby is such an explorer and adventurer at heart. He's pretty fearless on the trail, and traveling in general. Finnegan is another story. He's scared of everything, drags his tail through anything, and gets tired after about half the trail so I have to carry him. In the future, he is going to have to stay home if Sean and I want piece of mind and relaxation.
It was a nice day out being among nature and spending time with my little family.
