What I Wore: Scarlet Witch Fever

Winter is coming and I've found myself stocking up on way more cozy hoodies than I probably need (but also love!).  I wore tons of jeans and hoodies prior to starting my blog and pushing myself out of my comfort zone over and over again, but I guess I'm back in that phase of cozy, casual, and comfortable.

As a Her Universe Ambassador, they occasionally send me an item from a new collection that I get to tell you about first hand.  I enjoy working with the brand and seeing their fun fashion takes on fandoms.  Not only do they carry pieces in sizes 0 to 26/28, but they now have Our Universe, which has men's clothing (XS to 3X) and kid's items (XS to XL).

They just released a Marvel collection and I was sent the WandaVision Scarlet Witch Hoodie!  Read on for my review...

- Her Universe gifted me the hoodie in this post. Everything else was purchased by me.  All opinions presented are my own and without influence. -
Before we get started, I am 5'9", typically wear a 22/24, wear a 40B bra, a size 11 wide shoe, and my measurements are 52/49/58.

The Her Universe Marvel WandaVision Scarlet Witch Hoodie is extremely cozy.  It's got that fleeciness on the inside and will keep you warm for sure.  I was really impressed by the elevated quality in the thickness and weight of the fabric, as well as the lovely embroidery on the front.  I've also been quite obsessed with a burgundy color palette, which presents as a rosy/burgundy tie-dye in this piece.

I'm wearing a size 3, which translates to a 22/24.  I'm sort of between sizes at the moment and feel like the fit has some generosity to it without being oversized.  It just seemed like a good length and fit overall, which made me very happy. "Scarlet Witch" and "Wanda Maximoff" are screen-printed down each arm and little pockets are close to the banded bottom of the sweatshirt.  This feels like a slightly odd place for pockets and adds a little bit of bulk, but I think it looks more streamlined than a kangaroo pocket in front.  That said, these side pockets aren't super deep but they can hold some necessities and keep your hands warm.

It finally wasn't raining out, although it is pretty chilly now.  I popped by a new-to-me park (and trout hatchery) to take some photos.  I paired the hoodie with burgundy jeans and my new burgundy combat boots!  The jeans are Ava & Viv from Target and, while I liked them a lot at first, I don't like them now.  I thought the burgundy brown shade was unique and they came in mid-rise, which has been really hard to find lately.  I purchased a 24, but after wearing them a few times, washing them, and wearing them again, they seem to stretch out SUPER fast and give that overall baggy look that feels really sloppy while I'm wearing them.  Maybe you don't see that, and for that I am grateful, but I feel it when I'm wearing them.  I just don't like that.  It bums me out because I like the color, but I hate pulling my pants up constantly.

I've worn the boots previously for an outfit that still hasn't been on the blog, but I love them!  I bought them for Teenage Hailey who always wanted a pair but could never find them in her size.  (Also, she was constantly told how ugly they were by her mother, so she wasn't necessarily "allowed" to wear them.)  I've been trying to do nice things for teenage me lately and give her things I think she deserves just because she wanted them.  I'll talk more about that later though.  I'm wearing the boots in an 11WW, which is pretty roomy without feeling like Frankenstein feet. They don't have a lot of support so I will need to add some insoles possibly.  My planter fasciitis doesn't like when I wear other shoes besides my supportive sneakers, but that issue is getting better.  Anyway, love the combat boots and the fact that I can zip in and zip out of them without needing to mess with the laces!

"But what is grief, if not love persevering?"
- Vision

That line from WandaVision made me sob.  If you haven't watched the show yet, I don't want to spoil it for you.  I had a hard time getting into it because it was difficult to know exactly what was happening in the first few episodes as I watched it week to week.  I don't know a whole lot about the Marvel Universe, but have learned a bit listening to the For All Nerds - Views From The 616 podcast episodes about the show.  Hearing extra information from people who KNOW this universe was really enlightening and helped me enjoy the show a lot more!  In the end, it became clear what was happening and why, and I would have probably done the same damn thing.  To me, it was about grief, loss, and how we desperately cling to things we should probably let go of, even when it's really hard.  That's probably something we can all relate to.

So check out the show if you haven't yet and check out Her Universe for fabulous geekwear options!
