Oh snap! I actually did a blog post this week! To say the last couple of weeks have been off is an obvious understatement. I don't want to dwell too much on virus talk because I think we all need an escape from the reality of that situation, but I do want to check in on y'all. I hope everyone is holding up okay. I hope you are all healthy and hunkered down. I know this is a rough, weird, trying, exhausting time for all of us in a variety of ways. If you want to vent, you are welcome to do so in the comments.
Sean and I decided to forego Emerald City Comic Con in Seattle mid-March, going to the beach instead. We made our decision just days before they ended up canceling the con, so I am glad we were ahead of the game. It was a nice couple of days just relaxing, hiking, doing some photography, eating tasty food, and shooting an amateur boudoir session that I plan on sharing with you later. Then we headed to Seattle that weekend to visit with my dear friend from South Carolina. On our way home, we visited Olympic National Park to hike and take photos. Then The Isolation set in.
I work from home and spend most of my time at home (during the week at least), so I don't feel like this is too far from usual for me. But thinking of events in the world and the uncertainty of things has been difficult for me. I like stability and a routine and schedule. Everything feels a bit topsy turvy, which has stirred up my anxiety and depression for a variety of reasons. People's emotions running high also affects me, even if I'm not dealing with them in person. We're adapting and we'll get through, but this transition has been pretty exhausting for me mentally.
On to the outfit!

Before we get started, I am 5'9", typically wear a 22/24, wear a 40B bra, a size 11 wide shoe, and my measurements are 52/49/58.
Sean's birthday is Christmas Day. Usually, I put up a banner for him, wrap half his presents in birthday wrapping, and then we go to his mom's house for dinner where she makes something tasty he has requested, along with a cake of his choosing. We did things a little differently this past Christmas. We met up with his mom to go see the latest Star Wars movie, then we all went to our local hibachi restaurant for dinner, and over to his mom's for the German chocolate cake she made.
I'm not used to leaving the house on Christmas, so it seemed weird to me. I didn't grow up going to the movies on holidays, but it was a fun day out. To celebrate seeing the film, I wore both of these hoodies from Torrid for my Star Wars-themed look. While the Rebel sweatshirt uses more of a Sith color scheme, I loved the look of it. I'm still a hoodie and jeans kinda girl at heart. I sized up to a 4 in this one, and I am happy I did. It isn't as fitted as the Outlander hoodie, but it isn't oversized either. The knit fabric is super soft and cozy, warm but not stifling.
I love dressing for a theme, so I added the silver sequin hoodie on top. This hoodie added some warmth since it was chilly in December, but also further contributed to the Star Wars theme for obvious reasons. I also like the textures and layering of the costumes and felt this kinda reminded me of that aspect of the films. I sized up to a 4 in this piece also. Over the sweatshirt, it was a little more fitted but still plenty comfortable.
Seeing as how it was a laid-back day, I threw on my Universal Standard jeans and comfy BZees slip-on sneakers. The jeans are the high rise skinny (32 inch) in a size 22. I definitely have to size down in Universal Standard jeans, but size up in their tops. This high rise pair is the first thing I ever purchased from Universal Standard. I do find the high rise to be too high for my body shape. The legs seem a bit longer too, so there is more bunching up around the ankles. They now have mid-rise jeans that work much better for my body. I own mid-rise 32-inch jeans in two colors and have mid-rise 27-inch jeans in two colors as well. (They are still longer than capris.) I find their denim comfortable and stretchy, plus it retains its shape well. They are great for travel! I took mine on my UK trip because I knew they wouldn't stretch out while I wore them over and over again.
I haven't talked about my BZees much, but I am so obsessed with this brand. They have incredibly comfortable, casual shoe options. Everything can be washed in the washing machine easily. I own about seven pairs of BZees now. This particular pair also worked well for my casual Lady Han Solo look I wore to Rose City Comic Con in September. I am wearing an 11. While not all of their shoes are comfortably wide, most of the ones I have tried on fit quite nicely. These are a smidge ore fitted across the foot, but I also feel like they've stretched just a bit and are more comfortable than the first couple of times I wore them.
