Birchbox Review: September 2011

Catching up with Birchbox posts...

If you don't know about Birchbox, it is a monthly subscription service.  For $10 a month, you get a box of 4 to 5 high-end skincare, makeup, and/or hair care products to sample.  Sometimes there are also "lifestyle samples", like an organic granola bar, tea, etc.  Some products are even full-size!

It is a really fun thing to get in the mail!  Plus, I am a product junkie and love being able to try all these different products.  Check out the website for more information!

This month's theme was Birchbox Favorites.

Birchbox September 2011

Products included:

  1. Blinc Mascara.  I was excited to try this because I heard fabulous things about it.  It is a tubing mascara, so it should be waterproof/sweatproof.  The brush is one of those really skinny ones that I hate.  The formula was so wet and, in combination with the skinny brush, it just got gunk all over my eye.  I seriously had wet globs of mascara all over me.  I got frustrated and didn't try it again.
  2. Incoco Nail Polish Applique. Still haven't tried these, though I am very excited about them.  Painting my nails takes so long these days.  No matter what top coat I try, they always chip very fast too.  It is exciting to think I could have decorative nails for more than a day or so without them chipping and looking cruddy.
  3. Jouer Lip Enhancer.  Love this. It goes on like a clear lip gloss and has a nice, hydrating feeling.  It stays on for quite a while too.  I ended up buying a full size.
  4. LIV GRN Natural Eau de Parfum.  I'm not a huge fan of high end perfumes because they all smell really floral and "old lady" to me.  This one doesn't though.  It is a light, happy scent with a fruity smell.  Almost like oranges and grapes.  I'd wear this.
  5. Lash Card.  I love the idea of this card - to keep the aforementioned mascara from getting all over my face.  For me though, it was a bit tricky to use.
