All Moved In

Mr. Diva and I started moving things into the new house on the 16th of this month.  We were lucky enough to have the help of some great friends.  Saturday the 19th was the BIG moving day; and even after 3 days of moving boxes, we still managed to fill up a 26-foot U Haul truck.  We have been thoroughly exhausted since then.

Most of the first week I wasn't able to get much unpacking done.  This house is a bit smaller than our last place.  The kitchen has way less pantry space.  The bathrooms are a third of the size.  We're okay with that sacrifice because we are so much closer to stores and civilization and friends and work.  But I have definitely had to get rid of a lot of things and think hard about how to organize all our stuff.
We bought a wire shelf unit for the kitchen, as well as extra shelves for inside the cabinets and two small bookcases for under the bar area.  I FINALLY got the kitchen *mostly* done Monday night and was able to cook dinner for the first time at our new place.  (Roasted Cajun Chicken, sautéed onions and red peppers with green beans, and crispy potatoes)

Since we are much closer to the grocery store, I want to start doing weekly menus and only buying for the coming week.  I utilized my collection of Rachael Ray magazines and pulled out the weekly menus from the summer issues I have.  Mr. Diva chose the one he liked best.  Since it already has the shopping menu on it, it was fantastically easy and fun.  (Last night was BBQ sirloin sandwiches with slaw topping. YUM)  I should have a lot more recipes to recommend when I get things back on track.

Speaking of which, I only have my laptop to use right now because the office is still a pile of boxes.  I'm working on all that today.  I hope that it doesn't take too much longer for things to get back to normal.  I hate not being able to find my stuff or get to it very easily.
