KATU Afternoon Live: Summer Must-Haves

I was back on KATU's Afternoon Live this month to talk about my summer must-haves!  I'm not a huge fan of the heat or the summer, so I like to use and wear items that help me stay cool and comfortable and feel my best with minimal effort.

Before we get started, I am 5'9", typically wear a 22/24, wear a 40B bra, a size 11 wide shoe, and my measurements are 52/49/58.

What I Wore

• Sleeveless Knit Maxi Dress - Target (Ava & Viv)
• I'm wearing this maxi in a 3X and absolutely love it!  As soon as the first burgundy one I ordered came in the mail, I immediately bought this blue one. And it was only $22!
• Off-the-Shoulder Top - Old Navy
• Wearing a 3X
• Old Navy seems to carry this style every summer in different prints, so keep checking the website if you like it.

Accessories:

• Sunscreen
• Native Coconut & Pineapple SPF 30 Zinc Oxide Sunscreen
• Native is my favorite aluminum-free deodorant brand.  It is the only one I have found to actually work all day.
• They now make sunscreen for the body and face.  The sunscreen comes in 3 scents - Coconut & Pineapple, Rosé, and Unscented
• The body sunscreen leaves a very faint filmy feeling, but nothing like what I have felt with traditional sunscreens. 
• The face sunscreen does not leave a filmy feeling nor does it make me greasy. And no white cast!
  
  

• No Makeup Makeup
• Dr. Jart Cicapair Tiger Grass Color Correcting Treatment SPF30 - Sephora
• This is a green-to-beige color corrector that evens out your skin tone, corrects redness, and protects skin from UV damage and environmental aggressors.
• It is for all skin types, though I don't know how the color-correcting performs on darker skin tones.
• It contains SPF 30 and is a zinc oxide sunscreen without a white cast.
• I find it works well as a primer and I tend to use it as a moisturizer.  If my skin is on the dry side, I use a light moisturizer underneath.

• Sunglasses
• Zenni Prescription Sunglasses
• I LOVE a mirrored finish lens, but find them harder to come by.  I also am a total fan of prescription sunglasses now and don't know that I can go back to regular sunglasses.
• Zenni has tons of frame options and lens upgrades at affordable prices.  I have had nothing but good experiences with them and have turned lots of friends onto them as well.
• They have a variety of colored mirror finishes that you can apply to pretty much any frame you wish.
• My sunglasses in the video are the Rose Gold frames #3216819, with rose gold mirror finish.

• Handheld Fan - Amazon
• This fan was a gift from friends as an upgrade to my usual USB-powered fan they generally make fun of me for using (because they were jealous they didn't have one on hot days). 😉
• This fan has a USB charger and flashlight, which makes it a great little tool to carry around.

• Sun Hat - Amazon
• I really wanted to find a proper sun hat that was cute and fit my large head.
• This hat has a wide brim and adjustable band on the inside, with UPF protection.
• I am wearing the size Large in the color "A-khaki".

Clothing:

• Maxi Dress
• Tie Front Full Skirted Maxi - Eloquii
• I bought this dress in a size 22, though I think I could have sized down one more.  I typically wear a 24, so this surprised me.
• This dress is available in six different color/print options.
• Eloquii has some great sales from time to time.  This dress is regularly $140, but I got it for $55 during a sale.  You've seen it in my beach birthday post!

• Off-the-Shoulder Top & Activewear Capris
• Super Soft Peach Floral Cold Shoulder Top - Torrid (no longer available)
• Wearing this top in a 3X.  I hope they carry more of this style.
• LIVI Stretch Trouser Capri in Zinfandel - Lane Bryant
• This style of activewear capri is also available in olive, navy, black, & grey.
• These pants are so comfortable, don't wrinkle, and have lots of stretch and movement.

• Kimono, Tank, & Bermuda Shorts
• I love a kimono as a breezy cover-up, arm coverage, a layer if the night has a little chill.
• A tank and shorts will never not be a summer go-to.
• While these specific items are no longer available, as I have had them for years, I have a few similar styles linked below.
