What I Wore: Sartorial Medley - Accessories
It is time again for Sartorial Medley, a monthly themed fashion post hosted by myself and Aislynn of Aislynn's World. (Did you miss the previous posts? Check them out!) We welcome participation from anyone, regardless of your dress size.
From now until the 25th end of the month, email me your photo and link
to your blog post - diva (at) divinemrsdiva (dot) com.
Now on to this month's theme: Accessories.
This month, we decided to focus more on what you add to an outfit to give it some pizzazz. With more of a focus on the upcoming fall weather (although it was in the 90s here last week. BLEH!), I chose to show you how I dress for chillier weather. Here is the basic outfit to start:
I bought this dress from Torrid after seeing it on Rebecca of The Plus Side of Me in one of her Full-Figured Fashion Week posts. When it arrived in the mail, I was so happy I was able to get my hands on it. The color is a gorgeous blue-purple hue with an all-over rose pattern. It is made of a heavier material that can easily transition to fall. At 5'9", I feel like it may be a little too short and a bit out of my comfort zone to ever wear it sans leggings, but I am totally okay with that. The shorter sleeves hug my larger upper arms, but the material has a bit of stretch so it isn't uncomfortable.
Just by adding a complimentary scarf, it really changes the look of the outfit. I love the pop of color near my face and feel like the addition of the scarf balances out my figure and the outfit. It seemed a little bottom-heavy with all the black and the tall boots and nothing going on up top.
Next, I dug out my old jean jacket for an added layer against the elements. (It was actually raining this day, which is pretty much how the weather will act until next June. lol) The end result is a fun, feminine look that I will definitely be rocking a lot this fall.
Blue Rose Print Jacquard Knit Dress - Torrid

Black Knit Leggings - Fashion Bug
Sidney Tall Wide Calf Boots - Avenue (Fall 2013) (similar)
Stretch Belt - Lane Bryant (similar)
Scarf - Catherine's, a few years ago
Leaves Necklace - In Pink
