Thankfulness Thursday: Week 15 - Girls' Days Out!

This is Week 15 of Thankfulness Thursdays. Through Thanksgiving, I will be posting once a week about something/someone(s) I am thankful for. This is a link-up with Ashley from Domestic Fashionista.

Last week, my mother-in-law and I spent a fun day together at one of the big malls in Portland.  We haven't had a "Girls' Day" in a long time, so it was really nice to spend time with each other and take our time looking in all the shops.  We had lunch with Sean before heading out on our day.  Sephora was our first stop. I was so excited to play in the makeup!  I found a couple goodies (Sephora Moonshadow Palette and MUFE Aqua Seal) and helped my Mom #2 upgrade her current makeup.  It was so much fun!

If that wasn't enough, I squealed with delight at the sparkles in the Swarovski store and greedily pawed Coach bags before we even made it to Lane Bryant.  We had many laughs, returning home super exhausted.

These are fun times I am really thankful for.  I used to have days like this with my mom before she decided to go MIA from my life.  My sisters live 3000 miles away, so I never get a chance to do these things with them.  I am so thankful to have some great women here in town that I can spend days with, share laughs, and make memories with.  My mother-in-law is just one of those wonderful women.

Some of the other ladies I look forward to hanging out with are my cousins, Mindy and Annie.  We always have a good time together, talking and laughing.  It has been a while because Annie is a new mommy, but I look forward to having some time with them in the future.

And while I hardly ever get to have days out with my sister-in-law, I enjoy the time I do get to spend with her.  She's fun to talk to and really just a sweet person.

My mom was married to my stepdad for about 12 years, but they had a nasty breakup.  During the time they were married, my mom and I became close with my stepdad's family, specifically his sisters and nieces.  When my mom and stepdad divorced, my mom eventually found things she enjoyed more.  But I have always been welcomed as a part of the family and treated as such.  I am thankful for this because I don't have many women in my blood-family, nor do I have the opportunity to get to know them very well.

Even with our ups and downs, I feel that my stepdad's family is my family too and am grateful that they are still so welcoming and loving to me.  Us girls like to get together and celebrate birthdays and holidays.  These simple times of hanging out with other women, the laughter and joy that comes from it, makes me feel blessed and recharged.  I don't think they know how important it is to me or how much I enjoy being with them.

What are you thankful for today?
