I find packing immensely hard, so I have multiple lists and start way in advance. I want to have options and portray all the versions of myself, and that isn't always manageable when traveling.
So I pick a color scheme with a couple of neutrals and two or three colors that work well together. I build my travel wardrobe with that idea in mind, which usually helps keep things from getting too out of control.
I've previously gone over a lot of my packing tips and favorites in my Boston Outfit Recap, so you can find supplementary information there!

Before we get started, I am 5'9", typically wear a 18/20, wear a 40B bra, a size 11 wide shoe, and my measurements are 46/49/55.
I tried to pack smart, so I planned to re-wear various items throughout the trip. Overall, I packed only two items I didn't wear, a lighter denim jacket and a t-shirt. It was simply too cold for these items to be useful this trip. As an avid over-packer, this is a HUGE deal for me!!
A few wardrobe thoughts about NYC:
- I spent a lot of time thinking about how to dress for the city and NYC, but I just want to remind you to be yourself.
- I'm incredibly glad I based everything around comfortable sneakers.
- Layering helped keep options open and accommodating changes in wind chill and such.
