This is the final installment of the Bedroom Makeover series highlighting the bedroom redo my husband and I just completed. (Update: Actually, one more DIY post is on its way...) Of course, there is so much more we'd like to do in the future (Homeownership is an ever-revolving list of to-dos and ideas...), but we have been so grateful for the changes we've made. It's turned the space into a room that feels good. It makes us happy!
In today's post, I'm sharing all the final little details of the decor. Some things I painted or crafted, and some things just add to the theme. Details are a delight to me, so I had a lot of fun!

My goal with the decor and accessories was to add to the "Enchanted Forest" theme with wood textures and tones, gold accents, and greenery, while also adding some light sources into the room. I wanted it to look like a fairy collected things to add to her boudoir. I made sure to utilize as much of what we already had to keep the budget in check, but that also made me think a bit more creatively.
I wasn't too worried about all the greens matching (they don't) because there are lots of greens in nature and they all go well together. The king quilt was an online find. The basketweave pattern goes well with the look of the room, while the texture of the fabric is smoother than our previous quilt so Finn's white fur doesn't seem to stick to it as much. I think the color grounds the room in that mossy hue.

With a split king adjustable bed, we also had to get new Twin XL fitted sheets. I was able to find a variety of colors online and chose the ones that went with the bedroom decor. We are still using our old king flat sheets and pillowcases though.
King Quilt Set / Side Tables / Lamps |
We love the modern look and storage ability of the side tables. They have a color-changing light built in that helps add a little more light to the room. The top of the table raises to reveal a hidden storage area with USB and plug-in ports. It helps alleviate some of the extra clutter we always had on our side tables. The grey floral lamps are on theme and have three light settings, plus I found some nice grey organizing trays for Sean's table and a tissue holder for mine.
I added some wood elements to my side table in the form of this goddess statue (from my Witches Moon subscription box) and a whisky barrel tealight holder (from my Weebox subscription). I painted Ikea shelves with the same glittered paint I used for the dressers so we each have one for pictures and things. We also added some little jars we've picked up on travels that match the room. It was fun to shop our own stuff, especially our travel wall tucked away in the front room, to bring things into the bedroom that we love and rarely get to see.

DIY Bits
I did a lot of little DIY projects for the accessories and decor bits. I found all these pieces at Michaels and Craft Warehouse. Some were even clearance finds! For most of them, I used the same glitter paint I used on the dressers, shelves, and frames to add some sparkle. In some cases, I added extra multichrome glitter paint over the top. I used the same ferns I used on the Fairy-Inspired Canopy on the mossy letter. I thought these would be fun knick-knacks to add around the room to reinforce the theme.

A look as I worked on the mossy letter. Ferns are one of my favorite things in the forest! |
This metal wall decor piece was already in the room, but I wanted to lighten it up. Now I use magnets with it to hang up more photos. |
I used the same glitter paint I used on the dressers to jazz up these basic Ikea shelves and old frames I had lying around. I used all three colors on the shelves to give them a floating effect, but each frame is one of the lighter, non-wall colors. |
Other bits and bobs were found in a variety of places, including Target, Home Goods, Ikea, and other places in my house. We wanted to incorporate more of our travel photos and art we've picked up together. We also focused on finding those pieces that really matched the room well or brought in more wood tones and textures.
The basketweave pattern is common throughout the room, with textures from the fabric, wool, wood, and more. It all feels very pleasing to the eye with similar tones.
You can see inside the cabinet in the video, but I just realized I didn't take photos of the inside. The right side has shelves where I store odds and ends in a plastic drawer organizer I already had and a few of the Drona boxes from Ikea. Sheets and blankets are on the other shelves.
The left side of the cabinet has a clothing rack, so I hung my robes and this hanging organizer that holds purse and travel stuff. This side of the cabinet also holds some extra pillows, a weighted blanket, towels, supplements, and a few extra bath linens for my bathroom.

On top of the cabinet are our air purifier, a couple Ikea storage boxes (this one and this one), and some extra decor.
