I'm always on the lookout for comfortable yet stylish shoes that make me feel confident and give me proper support. I was very flippant about my foot health in my 20s, which is why I think quality, supportive footwear is worth the investment. I've been trying to replace my favorite styles of rather uncomfortable footwear with similar styles that have the support I need. I'll build an outfit around a comfortable pair of shoes any day!
When Aetrex reached out and offered me the chance to try the Sydney Espadrille Wedge, I was excited and enthused! I own a few pairs of Aetrex shoes now and have loved the arch support so much!

Before we get started, I am 5'9", typically wear a 22/24, wear a 40B bra, a size 11 wide shoe, and my measurements are 52/49/58.
Floral Tiered Maxi - Torrid / Chambray Off-the-Shoulder Top - Old Navy Sydney Espadrille Wedge - c/o Aetrex |
The Sydney has a 3-inch wedge heel, with a cork and jute-wrapped platform. These are much higher than I am currently used to, but they don't feel too high. I felt very sturdy and comfortable in them (minus going down a loose gravel hill, which was a wee bit precarious, but that could also be a user error. 😜) There are NINE other color options that include a beautiful, metallic champagne and a leopard print, and a cognac-colored pair with a striped platform!
I'm wearing the 42 EU, which is roughly a 10.5 to 11. I would say my typical size 11 wide feet are just a smidge long and a little wide for these, but it wasn't enough to make the shoe uncomfortable in any way. And I absolutely love the well-hidden hook and loop closures (essentially, that means Velcro) that allow for adjustments and don't require you to mess with the buckle.
The footbed lining is a soft microfiber treated with antimicrobial technology. The shoe also features the Aetrex Orthotic System, which is their combination of arch support and 8mm memory foam cushioning. The Sydney retails for $150. I paired the Sydney with one of my favorite maxi dresses (a Torrid outlet clearance find when I visited Georgia for my high school reunion in 2018) and a chambray off-the-shoulder top from Old Navy. My mother-in-law took Sean and I out to dinner to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary, then Sean and I went for a stroll and had fun taking photos.
What styles of comfort-driven shoes do you seek? What's your favorite Aetrex style?
