What I Wore: Boba Fett - But Make It Fashion!

I have loved Star Wars for as long as I can remember.  I still own a Return of the Jedi book I was constantly pouring over from at least the age of 8.  I was obsessed!  That book is on my bookshelf, the edges falling apart at the seams, and I'm so happy I kept it.

Sean and I have been enjoying the imagery and craft it takes to make shows like The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett.  If you haven't watched the Making of...shows for those series', I highly recommend them.

I'm thrilled that Her Universe exists and offers fandom-inspired pieces for fanfolkx up to a size 26/28.  (Though I do hope they will expand sizing for people above a 28.)  When I saw the Boba Fett Dress, I just couldn't pass it up!  I wore it out to brunch a couple weeks ago and took some quick photos on our rush out the door!

Before we get started, I am 5'9", typically wear a 22/24, wear a 40B bra, a size 11 wide shoe, and my measurements are 52/49/58.

The Boba Fett Dress is still available in plus sizes 0, 3, and 4, which translates to sizes 12, 22/24, and 24/26.  It's a comfy knit dress with pockets and a zipper at the neckline.  The elastic waist is neither too tight nor too loose and seems to fall at a great place on the body on everyone I've seen it on so far.  I also love the use of the helmet design and stripes.

I normally tend to wear a 3 (22/24) at Her Universe, but ended up sizing up to a 4 in this one because of three things:
  1.  It seemed a bit short for me in the 3,
  2. The neckline was a bit too tight and felt like it was choking me, even with the zipper all the way down, and
  3. The skirted portion is more A-line versus a more full skirt.  I wanted more room for my tummy and hips.
For these reasons, the 4 worked out much better!

I styled the dress with slashed leggings that feature a fishnet underlay, a black moto jacket (see above links for other available styles), and the black rhinestone combat boots I bought my teenage self for Christmas.  I absolutely LOVE this look, and I hope you do too!

Fit Notes:
  • The leggings are a size 3 and fit true to size without being stretched thin and see-through.
  • I sized up to a 4 for the moto jacket to have room for my arms and sleeves of shirts.  I can't wear something super thick with the moto, but it works well over long-sleeve tees, thin sweatshirts, and the like.
  • The combat boots are GORGEOUS!  I almost didn't buy them because they were more expensive with Betsey's name involved (and I love Betsey!).  However, I managed to get them for 50% off over the holidays, which is a deal to me!  Because combat boots are typically more roomy, I went with a size 11 instead of 11.5, which worked out very well.  They are plenty roomy, but don't feel like clown shoes.  Also, they aren't super heavy either, which is a plus!
