Since my return from our Oregon Coast vacation, I've been super busy prepping for my Etsy shop opening!! There were lots of last minute details to attend to and I've been spending most of my waking minutes focused completely on this monstrous task that I hope gets easier as I tend to it. Many of my pieces are inspired by nature and my travels, so the name Wilde Skye seemed very fitting. I've been a creative person my entire life, but I love to dive into all kinds of crafting projects (as you've witnessed from being a blog reader over the past twelve years). For a long time I put off creative endeavors in order to appease other people, work jobs I hated, and do what was expected of me. But that never lit me up from the inside.
I've been blogging about my personal style as a plus-size lady, my travels, life, family, and everything else since 2009. I love connecting with other folks out there and sharing my experiences through my blog, but after I had cancer I realized how much I was holding myself back. So I've been going and doing and trying as much as I possibly can.
As someone with anxiety and depression, making time for creative projects has been a HUGE help in managing my mental health; and it became a big priority as I regrouped and tried to get through 2020.
And here I am.
The ideas for these creations of mine that incorporate original paintings and beaded elements come from all over. I'm always inspired by nature, my travels, and sparkles! And I hope that I can share my own brand of magic to light up the world as much as I possibly can! ✨
(Full disclosure: I'm also hoping the crippling self-doubt over whether anyone will like what I make helps to inspire more designs as well.)

| A look at my process - I start with a slice of wood and drill holes based on whatever design I'm thinking of. Then I paint and seal the background and start working on the wire tree, which is embellished with gemstone bead chips and other bead styles, depending on the design. |
