Over the weekend, though, I had to actually leave the house to accompany Sean out and about and help him pick out some clothing for a wedding we are attending next month. Wearing a mask makes me feel very claustrophobic and sometimes gives me panic attacks, which is why I tend to avoid having to go out (because I'm not going to opt not to wear one). Thankfully, the weather wasn't as hot as it could have been, so that didn't add an extra bit of hellscape to the tedious task of being out in public.
I decided to shoot some quickie photos to share my cute outfit with all of you because I particularly loved it. It was comfortable but made me feel in higher spirits than I have in the last month or so. Maxi dresses are such a great go-to in summer and I'm pretty obsessed with this style!

Before we get started, I am 5'9", typically wear a 22/24, wear a 40B bra, a size 11 wide shoe, and my measurements are 53/52/60.
Sleeveless Knit Babydoll Dress - Ava & Viv - Target Tie-Dye Off Shoulder Top - Torrid Zahara Slip-On - Cobb Hill Amethyst Mountain Necklace - Nature's Twist |
Let's start with the maxi! It's the same style that I wore in blue in my latest Afternoon Live segment. The dress is from Target and is only $22! I'm wearing a 3X and find the fit true-to-size, if not a smidge generous. It is soft and knit and has pockets. I'm totally obsessed. I ended up buying it in four colors - blue, burgundy, olive, and black. They are fine on their own, but I have been having so much fun looking for tops I own to layer over them. Off-the-shoulder styles work well and I love that the dress straps are wide and cover my bra straps.
While the top is sold out online, Torrid has been carrying so many types of off-the-shoulder tops and still has quite a selection. I always size up to a 4 so that more top falls off my shoulder. My simple tee knotting trick is to gather the tee and use a small, clear hair band to wrap around the gathered part. Easy peasy!!
I accessorized with my favorite nude slip-on (though they are worn in enough that my plantar fasciitis gets aggravated), and layered necklaces in place of big statement earrings (so I don't have to fight them with the putting on and taking off of the face mask). I also added some rose gold to my hair to change things up and love how the burgundy complements the pinky tones in my hair!
I carried around Sean's wedding kilt and picked out top options for him to try on with it. But sometimes I make him try on random things I think will look cute. He totally needs this vest! (We were at DXL.) |
What are you wearing a lot of this summer?
