I was back on KATU's Afternoon Live this month to talk about styling loungewear looks! If you're like me, you may have purchased way more comfy clothes to wear around the house than you typically would in the past year. While the pandemic still has us all staying pretty close to home, I thought it would be fun to share ensembles using those loungewear pieces in outfits we can wear running errands, visiting the doctor, taking a walk, chillin' with your pod, etc.
Enjoy the segment and let me know where you like to buy your loungewear!
- I bought the items in this post. All opinions presented are my own and without influence. This post contains affiliate links and I make a small commission if you make a purchase after clicking on my links. -
Before we get started, I am 5'9", typically wear a 22/24, wear a 40B bra, a size 11 wide shoe, and my measurements are 52/49/58.

What I Wore
- 'Moon & Stars' Tee - Target (Stars Above)
- This brand was new to me, but I've found some really fun graphic tees at Target. I am wearing the 4X because I wasn't sure if it was junior sizing or not. It actually fits very well, so I bought a different design in the same style as well.
- Floral Hoodie - Torrid
- Wearing 3X
- Similar
- LIVI Metro Jogger - Lane Bryant
- Wearing 22/24
- While this style is almost sold out, I really like the fit and "dressed up jogger" look. I bought the style in this plum color & a dark grey.
Look #1
- Sunset Bear Tee - Lizzy Dalton Art
- So excited this local artist has t-shirts available up to a 4X!
- Bought the 4X and it fits pretty spot on for my size 24/26 body.
- Other designs and colors are available as well.
- Grey Chambray Shirt - Torrid
- Chambray shirts have been pretty easy to find as of late.
- Wearing a 3X
- Similar
- They are great layers for tees & tanks, maxi dresses, etc. You can also tie them higher for a cropped look that works well proportion-wise with maxis and the like.
- Grey Herringbone Drawstring Pull-On Trouser - Torrid
- Wearing a 3X
- Torrid has had some great printed pants offerings. While I am sometimes between sizes, I find my usual size 3 to work well.
Look #2
- Dunder Mifflin Hoodie - Torrid
- Hoodies I typically purchase in a 4X for an oversized fit.
- A French tuck is a great way to give yourself some shape and hide some of the bulk of oversized pieces.
- Flippy Skirt - Torrid
- Great additions to this look: capri leggings, sneakers, tights & booties, fun flats, etc.
Look #3
- Luxe V-Neck Tunic Tee in Leopard - Old Navy
- The luxe v-neck tees from Old Navy are great! They are soft and stretchy and move well with the body.
- If I want the tee to be longer to wear with leggings, I order a 4X. If I want it to fit more like a longer t-shirt, I order a 3X.
- Longline Cardigan - Lane Bryant
- LIVI Power Legging - Lane Bryant
- Obviously, this look is a basic template for so many other looks like it. If you have a favorite print legging, pair it with a solid tee & complementary cardigan.
- Dress it up with accessories that add sparkle and refinement.
- Pair it with a slip-on sneaker & crossbody purse for running errands.
- So many options!!
Look #4
- Matching LIVI Activewear Set - Lane Bryant
- I've been trying to get out to do more walking, but I want to look super cute while I do it. The matching activewear sets are great, but when you want to utilize them for more just separate them.
- Luxe V-Neck Tunic Tee in Black - Old Navy
- Again, the luxe tee comes into play. My friend Jennifer wanted to make me a t-shirt with her Cricut machine. She came up with this beautifully sparkly design with my blog handle.
- Pairing a graphic tee with a matching or complementary color to the active leggings pulls the look together and makes it look like you put some thought into it.
- Bomber Jacket - JCPenney
- The bomber adds a chic layer and dresses up a tee and leggings a bit. Paired with a cute bootie or sneaker, you are ready to go!
- Studded Joggers - Lane Bryant
- I paired the active top with a studded jogger to bring in another loungewear style, but you could easily just throw it on with jeans, French tuck it with a skort, etc. etc. It's just important to see "matching sets" as having their own identity individually too!
Saving money!
- In the segment, I was asked about tips on saving money when adding to your wardrobe. I NEVER buy anything full price. I am good at getting great deals on item I want, but you do need to be persistent.
- You can read a whole post I did about discount shopping, but I have some other additions below.
- If you shop online a lot, sign up with Ebates. Use the browser bar to quickly activate your cashback to get a percentage back on your order amount. They also provide various coupon codes as well. This isn't a scam. (I understand the trepidation, but it is actually a great way to save money.) I've been using Ebates for years and have saved a total of $1,350 thus far. Your savings is sent to your Paypal account every couple of months.
- Sign up for the email newsletters of brands you like. Follow them on social media to learn about flash sales and deals.
- Keep a list of styles and colors you would like to add to your wardrobe. Consult this list when shopping online or in-store. Take advantage of clearance deals when you can.
- Amazon has great deals a lot of the time. If you see something you really want but it is still too expensive, add it to your Amazon cart and save it for later. You can simply log in to your Amazon account and quickly check your saved items via your cart to see if a price has changed.
Additionally, if you have the browser Amazon extension there will be a notification at the top of your screen that will let you know if the item you are currently looking at online is available on Amazon. This helps to find better deals as well. - If you know your sizes in specific brands, Zulily often has my favorite comfort brands at discounted prices. With Zulily, you can make returns on certain items now, which makes shopping them a bit less risky.
- Check local and online consignment and secondhand sites for items/styles you want. This includes shoes and accessories as well. A lot of times, these items have barely been worn.
- I have been loving Poshmark lately for finding items I'm looking for (You can also shop my Poshmark closet). But I have also had good luck with ThredUp (get $10 to shop when you sign up using my referral code) & eBay.
How do you enjoy styling your loungewear? Do you have other tips for saving money?
