I've recently joined Jord's Partner Program, which means I will have the opportunity to bring you reviews of new products and lines throughout the year. Previously, I reviewed the gorgeous Cora Polaris timepiece, made of rose gold metal and walnut wood. I love Jord's (pronounced "YODE") use of sustainable materials and wood to craft these exquisite pieces. Today I have the pleasure of introducing you to Jord's new line of vegan leather wallets and handbags! Come check out the Eila Wallet with me and learn how you can help design future accessories by joining the Design Network!

In case you are totally new to the brand, Jord uses reclaimed and natural materials to create handcrafted, quality pieces that last. They are a small, family-owned company located in St. Louis, Missouri. Along with their best-selling wood watches, they also offer Apple Watch bands, sunglasses, and now handbags and wallets, and free worldwide shipping!
The new line is made from Jord's own creation of Suberhide, a vegan leather made from Portuguese cork and woven fabric. The cork oak tree is one of three trees in the world that can be stripped of its bark without dying. Growing and harvesting of the trees actually reduces carbon dioxide in the air. The resulting material is soft, textured, and tough. Suberhide is resistant to staining, scratches and tearing, and creasing. It is water-resistant and easy to clean. Portuguese cork is also used to insulate space shuttles due to its insulative and flame-resistant properties, which makes these products flame-resistant also!
I used to be someone that would just grab a decent clearance wallet that would get me through the day and hold my stuff, but I have really come to appreciate investing in quality items that will truly last and hold up to every day life. I'm so intrigued by the unique and sustainable vegan material, but this wallet also feels luxurious and special. It arrived in a bow-wrapped box and comes with a protective dust bag like luxury handbags do. Yet, the cork texture and simple design don't feel ostentatious or out of place in daily life.
The Eila Wallet measures roughly 8 inches by 4 inches by 1 inch. It is lightweight and smooth, but feels tough and sturdy. I haven't had a chance to use it for long thus far, but I have carried it out in the rain (it started raining while I was shooting photos), and I did dig my fingernail into it to see how it held up to scratches. At first you could see where I poked my nail in, but it slowly faded away until you could no longer see it. The peacoat blue color is a beautiful navy. I really like the imperfectly perfect cork texture of the material. It gives it depth and character and makes it a unique piece compared to the other couple of wallets I own.
The hardware is gold, with premium YKK zippers that are thick and sturdy. Inside the wallet is a zippered pocket, eight interior card pockets, and two long pockets. Overall it feels roomy without being bulky, which is always a plus.
