I only have one Torrid Outlander Collection review left, but I'm taking a break to talk about what I wore over the weekend. My husband's work holiday party is always in January. Knowing it was coming up, I started shopping my closet to put together some sparkly looks I could choose from for the event. But I was eyeing this golden Kiyonna dress ever since it popped up online.
I talked myself out of buying it multiple times, but when it was on sale for an awesome price I couldn't help but snatch it up! I have been so excited to wear it! The party finally rolled around over the weekend, and it stopped raining long enough for me to get some photos! So let's talk about the Monroe Metallic Wrap Dress!

Before we get started, I am 5'9", typically wear a 22/24, wear a 40B bra, a size 11 wide shoe, and my measurements are 52/49/58.
As I said, I wanted this dress from the moment I laid eyes on it. The Monroe Metallic Wrap Dress is a true wrap dress in a gorgeous liquid gold fabric. I'm wearing a size 3X (22/24) and find it fits true to size. The poly/spandex fabric is stretchy with a little bit of texture on the surface of the gold. It is also lined with a black fabric. This dress is machine-washable. The color itself is more of a ruddy bronze shimmer to me, as it is a dark gold with lines of black. The darker gold looks more chic to me than a bright gold.
The high-low hem hits right at my knee in front and about mid-calf in the back. I kind of wish it was just a tad longer overall, like maybe two inches all around. Of course you know I love the three-quarter sleeves and the gathered detailing at the shoulder. The ties were certainly long enough, but the fabric slides a bit on top of itself. I did safety pin it in a few places just so I would fidget with the sash way less during my night out. I had no issues with it after that.
It is just yet another fantastic dress from Kiyonna. This is one of those styles they just completely excel at. I received so many compliments on it that night. One of them when a stranger yelled at me from down the sidewalk that I was beautiful. She yelled it multiple times, said she loved the dress, and told Sean to take lots of pictures of me. Another one was at the end of the party after I moved to a different table. A woman ran over to me from the other side of the room and told me she saw the dress flash out of the corner of her eye and had to come see it. She complimented the dress and said I looked amazing. I mean, who doesn't love a compliment?!?
I decided to break in my new comfortable sandals, the Hollywood Pleat T Sandal by Cobb Hill. I had my eye on these shoes for the better part of the year because I adore Cobb Hill shoes. They went down in price (down to $35!!), so I grabbed a black pair. I'm wearing the size 11 and it seems to be spot on. With Cobb Hill, I can wear the regular width instead of wide. That's always a plus. I added extra sparkle in the form of gold and emerald earrings and my rhinestone clutch. Because it was cold, I also needed a jacket, but didn't have any super fancy options that would match the aesthetic. I opted for my City Chic moto jacket instead. And I'm debuting my new side-swept bang hairdo!

A closer look at my makeup. I decided to do a green and bronze smokier eye and wore wispy accent faux lashes. |
The cool kids at the work party after party! (My mind is still blown that I was the oldest woman there! How am I almost 40?!?!) |
So, are you a golden child that would want to rock a shiny gold dress? How would you style this one? What other ways should I style this dress? I'd love to do a post remixing it a bit too!
