I've always loved plaid prints. I love the color combinations and varying scales of the tartans.  I love wearing plaid in any way, shape, or form. As you know, I am definitely a prints-wearing girl, and plaids are no exception. As you also know, I love me some Outlander! Torrid introduced their latest Outlander collection in September, throwing me for a loop! I wasn't expecting a collection so soon, and this was the biggest one yet. (My wallet was also not ready. haha)

I've spent the last few months collecting pieces from this collection, making a lookbook video with all the pieces styled into outfits. I am really proud of how it turned out! Please give it a watch and share it with your friends and fellow Droughtlander sufferers! It's almost time for a new season! In that same post, you can also get a rundown of each item in case you want to purchase any using your Torrid Cash rewards, which runs the 8th through the 20th.

I'll be sharing review posts with all the items featured in the video, but wanted to start with my favorites and the pieces that are more readily available since some are sold out. You can also check out some of the previous Torrid Outlander collection pieces I own and have featured on the blog.  I did wear this wrap dress during my November television segment on styling looks for winter, so you can check out that video to see it in action!

Before we get started, I am 5'9", typically wear a 22/24, wear a 40B bra, a size 11 wide shoe, and my measurements are 52/49/58.

Today's post is all about the Tartan Plaid Hacci Wrap Dress!  I picked this up in a size 4 (26), though I have since bought a size 3 (22/24) also. This dress was regular $68.90, but it is now on clearance for $23.99 and is still available in sizes 10 through 28. I usually size up in collections because lately they have seemed to run a little smaller than the average Torrid clothing. That said, I feel like Torrid sizing has been a tad inconsistent lately anyway. The hacci fabric is a lightweight, super stretchy fabric with a light spongy-like feel. It moves well and is great for year-round wear. The print does have a speckled look to it, which I personally don't mind. It almost looks like a sweater material, but it isn't.

The style is a faux wrap, with a surplice neckline that mimics a wrap with a v-neck. It has three-quarter sleeves and a hemline that hits at the knee. It seems to be a little longer in the back, which accommodates my booty and keeps the hem pretty even. The waistline has a light elastic in it, so it stays in place but isn't too tight. I absolutely love the comfort and ease of this dress. The size 4 is definitely roomy in the bust on me, but the waistline doesn't sag and look frumpy. The size 3 by comparison (not pictured) is a little shorter and fits my bust perfectly, but still doesn't seem to cling or sit weird on my body. I'm glad I also bought the smaller size because I do feel that it fits more like I wanted it to, but I am happy to have the roomier 4 also.

I layered a brown tank under the dress because the bust is so much larger on me. (I wear a 40B bra.)   In addition, I added navy leggings and this great purple activewear moto jacket. The shade of this jacket goes so well with the tartan. I've previously worn it with my Outlander tartan skirt also.

If you follow me on Instagram, you know I had to say goodbye to my old brown boots from Avenue. I had them for quite a few years, but they finally ran their course. I initially tried an extra wide calf boot from Torrid because I have 21-inch calves. However, the extra wide calf boots were about four inches too large (which is GREAT if you have large calves because it has always been so hard to find boots that fit)! I am wearing these boots in an 11.5 to accommodate thicker socks.  The Chestnut Brown Faux Leather Tall Boot is wide width and wide calf, which actually fits me like a glove. The ankles are still a bit loose, even with tightening the buckles, but overall the fit is great.

*On a side note, I often struggle with spending way too much time narrowing down the pictures I use in a blog post like this. Sometimes it's pretty easy because I may have a few favorite poses or maybe not everything came together for a lot of the photos, like if it was windy or I was in a mood. And then there are times like this when I LOVE my outfit and the locations were beautiful and the weather was perfect. Then I love ALL the photos and I spend too much time trying to narrow them down to a few different angles and poses and all that.

I mainly do this because I know people don't want to see ALL the photos, but I hate blog posts that only have one or two photos. I don't find that helpful in the slightest. Nor do I appreciate when a post is just full of photos with the same pose. It makes no sense to me. Also, when I started blogging, I read a "rule" that you should never have more than 13 photos per post. I know people's attention spans are shorter and people don't like to read posts much anymore. I know most people don't comment. But I am deciding I just can't care, if for nothing more than my own sanity.

I want to put out the content I want to put out. It won't be for everybody, and it won't be for everybody all the time. But I don't want to put so much pressure on myself anymore.  I don't want to spend so much time narrowing down the photos. I don't want to waste any time thinking about other people's rules. Hopefully, this isn't an issue for you, but I have to make things easier and more fun for myself if I want to continue doing something I love in an industry/climate/society that seems to value bullshit over everything else.

I hate the bullshit and the "rules" and the expectations of social media and what blogging and photos and all of that should look like. So I'll be doing me, as always, and if you enjoy that - thank you for sticking around!

Did you get any pieces from the Outlander collection?  What fandom would you love to see in collection form?
