At Home Fitting Room: Tops

In today's post Hailey reviews tops from brands Torrid, Lane Bryant, JCPenney, Maurices, and Old Navy. - DivineMrsDiva.com #LaneBryant #Torrid #TorridInsider #JCPenney #Xersion #SelfEsteem #oldnavy #oldnavyplus #maurices #psblogger #plussizeblogger #styleblogger #plussizefashion #plussize #plussizeclothing #fittingroom

It has been much easier for me to do these smaller groupings of At Home Fitting Room posts.  Today, I am showing you various tops I have collected over the winter to present.  Some items are no longer available, but I still think seeing sizes and info helps.

The usual spiel: I shop too much and want to use my experience to help you navigate brands and sizing. Let's get to it!

- I bought all the items in this post. All opinions presented are my own and without influence. This post contains affiliate links and I will be compensated if you make a purchase after clicking on my links. -
Before we get started, I am 5'9", typically wear a 22/24, wear a 40B bra, a size 11 wide shoe, and my measurements are 52/49/58.

Torrid Embroidered Bell Sleeve Tunic
(Still available in size 2X for $33.98; also available in black in size 1X; I bought it for $23.)
This top is essentially Torrid's popular babydoll style in a bell sleeved version with embroidery.  I really liked the pumpkin color and had anticipated wearing it to fall events (that never happened).  I really love the roominess in the style, pretty embroidery, and soft knit fabric.  I was finally able to wear it recently (see below) and really like the fit.  The belled portion of the sleeve was a little difficult when reaching over the dinner table, but otherwise I had no issues.

Torrid Super Soft Cherry Red Cold Shoulder Top
(Still available in sizes 5X and 6X for $29.17; Regular $38.90, I bought it for $16)
Y'all know I am obsessed with off-the-shoulder styles.  I bought this one because it is very similar to my pink version, also from Torrid.  The sleeves on this one are a little longer and it isn't layered, but it is otherwise the same.  I also bought a red halter version that was similar, but it was kind of see-through.  I am wearing a 3X and find it fits true to size.  The fabric is a soft, stretchy knit and I don't find the lace to be scratchy.

Torrid Floral Print Velvet Lace Trim Cami
(No longer available online; Regular $43, I paid $33.)
I really love the colors and print of this tank.  I envisioned it with skirts and a cute shrug for some kind of holiday gathering (that also didn't happen).  The swing style offers more room in the hips, while the velvet fabric is a little thicker and quite stretchy.  It is comfortable to wear and very pretty in person.

Torrid New Kids On The Block Grey Scoop Tee
(Still available in sizes 00 (10), 2X, and 3X for $16.98; Reg, $34.90, I bought it for $27.)
I mean, you know I wasn't going to pass up a NKOTB tee.  I bought this in a size 3X (bottom pic) and 4X (top pic) to see what worked best for me these days.  I like the length of the 3X tees better, but they always seem to be too fitted.  I returned the 3X and kept the 4X.  Typical Torrid tee made with soft knit.  The sleeves are way too short and annoying, but New Kids.

Torrid Black New Kids On The Block Graphic Crew Tee
(Still available in all sizes 00 to 6X (10 to 30) for $38.90; I paid $31.)
After purchasing the above New Kids tee, I bought this one in a 4 as soon as I saw it online.  I will be hemming all of these 4X shirts, and have yet to wear them until I do.  It is too annoying to mess with the length otherwise.  Typical soft knit Torrid graphic tee.

Same as above, I bought this Backstreet tee in a 4X and need to hem it.

Lane Bryant Woke Up Fabulous Graphic Ombre Sweatshirt
(Still available in sizes 14/16 and 18/20 for $30.79 on clearance; Reg. $49.95, I paid $21.92.)
I love the ombre and beautiful blue hue of this sweatshirt.  While I am always wary of buying white tops, this one wasn't too bad.  Of course, I love the saying also.  The fabric is more of a terry style and feels a little more rough versus fleece-like on the inside.  This didn't really bother me, plus I like that it is a thinner material than a typical sweatshirt.  I am wearing a size 26/28 because I wanted it to be more roomy.  The 22/24 was more fitted on me.  I wore this after a busy few days in Seattle and found it was great to just pop on and wear for a road trip or other such situations when it is best to be comfy and chill.

Lane Bryant Hacci Tie Sleeve Swing Tee
(Still available in multiple colors in sizes 10/12 to 22/24 for $26.99 on clearance; I paid maybe $15 each in store because I had rewards points.  I also bought the turquoise.)
I found this top in store when I needed to use some rewards checks.  I really love swing style tops because they provide ample room in the tummy and hips.  I thought the ties on the arm were cutesy, but not too much.  This purple and a turquoise appealed to me the most.  I am wearing a 22/24 and find they fit true to size.  The fabric is a spongy, stretchy rayon/poly/spandex blend.  It is lightweight and hangs well.  I'll be showing it styled in an outfit post soon. (I've had to sit on the photos for a project that got pushed back.)

Lane Bryant Hacci Active Dress with Waist Tie
(Available in sizes 14/16 to 26/28 for $27.29 on clearance; Regular $49.95, I paid $29.97.)
This was a spur-of-the-moment purchase when I saw it online.  I liked the tie-front style and wanted to see what it looked like on me.  I bought both a 22/24 and 26/28 to try.  The 22/24 was more fitted and very clingy.  In the above photo, I am wearing a 26/28.  It is still a little clingy in the back compared to how I wanted it to fit.  I also don't like how the belted portion doesn't continue in the back to cinch the waist.    The rayon/poly fabric is lightweight and hangs well, with minimal stretch.  I kept the 26/28 for hanging out at home.  I think it will be a great summer lounge piece.

Lane Bryant Strappy V-Neck Tee
(No longer available online; Regular $34.95, I paid $17.)
I bought this top because I had one long sleeve tee in my wardrobe.  I wanted more long sleeve options I could layer under a vest in the fall and winter.  This fits the bill.  The stripes look better broken up by a solid vest.  The front of this tee is a little short for my taste, but it doesn't present a huge problem.  The knit is soft and stretchy.  I am wearing a 22/24 and find it fits true to size.

Lane Bryant Bootylicious Graphic Tee
(No longer available)
I bought this tee because it says "Super Cali Bootylicious Sexy Curvy Dopeness", except I probably should have gotten a 26/28 versus the 22/24 I am wearing.  It is way too fitted for me to wear alone comfortably.  I am getting so frustrated at LB for these ill-fitting tees and short-ass sleeves.  I tried on a tee a few weeks ago in store and it was a little less fitted than this, and about 3 inches longer.  It was awful.

Maurices Striped Bell Sleeve Top
(No longer available)
I picked this top up from Maurices while I was out shopping with my cousin.  I don't remember how much I paid for it.  I am wearing a 3 and find it fits true to size.  I wanted to try it on because the sleeves were something different than anything I own.  The whole style is unlike anything in my closet, which is why I decided to buy it.  It looks super cute with boot cut jeans.  I think it is supposed to be off-the-shoulder, but it is smocked and therefore doesn't stay on the shoulder.  The knit fabric is stretchy and soft though.

JCPenney Self Esteem Short Sleeve Velvet Blouse
(Still available, also in solid colors - 0X to 3X; I bought it for $17, regular $49.)
I really liked this pretty floral print on the velvet.  I bought it over the winter months hoping to wear it to some holiday party or something.  I'm wearing a 3x and find it fits pretty true to size, though it is a juniors' size.  This means it is a little smaller and shorter than a womens' size would run.  I thought it still fit really well.  I will say, the neckline isn't stitched like a normal hem, but has a V of fabric lining the inside that allows the neckline to move and this piece of fabric to ride up.  I need to stitch down the neckline so I feel more comfortable about it.  The fabric is velour velvety and very stretchy.

JCPenney Xersion Curve Game Graphic Active Tank
(No longer available; I bought it for $10.49, regular $24.)
I wanted this tank for the saying on it.  It made me smile.  I am wearing a 3x and find it fits true to size.  I really like the length, though for something I want to work out in I would like a longer top.  I don't like wearing leggings with short shirts.  The back shoulder area could be higher like a normal tank, but I'd probably at least wear a kimono or something over it, so it didn't bother me too much.

Old Navy Off-The-Shoulder Swing Top
(No longer available; I bought it for $4.97, regular $30.)
This top was cheap, so I got it because I really like my other off-the-shoulder Old Navy tops.  I'm wearing a 3x and it fits fine size wise.  The smocked neckline doesn't actually stay off the shoulder; it just rides up because it is stretchy.  I do like the length even if the fabric is a thinner knit.  This will be great for wearing around the house in the summer.

I hope you've enjoyed this latest At Home Fitting Room!  I always love bringing these posts to you and hope you find it helpful.  Do you own any of these items?  Do any appeal to you?  If you have further sizing thoughts or questions, let me know!
