This is officially the final post about my Redwoods Road Trip fun. Truthfully, I'm kind of sad to see it go because it was such a fun and special trip for us. It was a treat to relive it with all of you, however, and I hope to go back again soon.
I'm an over-packer on a grand scale. I love to be prepared, but I am also a high maintenance lady who wants all her options. This was one of the first trips where I felt I did a really good packing job, keeping things minimal and practical. So take a look at what I brought and wore and why.
Also, Happy Valentine's Day! Make sure you tell the people you love - be they a partner, a friend, a family member, YOURSELF - just how much you care. 💓
This trip was taken back in 2015, so these are older pieces that I owned for a while or had recently bought. Under each outfit, I have listed the items and linked similar items where I can.

Day 1
Day 1 was spent mostly in the car, but it was a chillier day with expected rain. I knew we were walking around the High Desert Museum once we reached Bend, so I opted for comfortable shoes and jeans. This plaid shirt isn't flannel but a cotton/poly blend, so it wasn't too thick and could easily be layered. I popped a dark pink lace-trim tank underneath for added color and some feminine detail. Plus, tucking a tank into my jeans is a great way to keep them from rubbing my tummy roll if I have to sit a lot. Popping on my anorak jacket was perfect in the slightly chilly air. This jacket has been my go-to for travel now because it doesn't need a lot of maintenance in terms of ironing and is easily cleaned. The olive color goes with most everything, but it isn't super heavy or bulky.

Day 2
On Day 2, we headed from Bend to Crater Lake, Oregon. When I packed, the weather was supposed to be great. Because of this, I brought along a tank and short sleeved hoodie. And since we planned to walk around at the crater once we arrived, I again opted for jeans and sneakers. Well, that morning was cold and rainy with nothing but snow and rain at Crater Lake. I forgot to bring a "just in case" scarf with me, so my jacket had to do. While we were at the crater, I was so cold I also had to pop one of Sean's extra jackets on top of all this. On this day, I was kicking myself for being so minimal in my packing, but I survived.

Day 3
Day 3 was our first of two days in California. The weather was glorious and lovely! I didn't know what the day actually held for us other than it was a bit of a drive to the Avenue of the Giants. Plus, we wanted to get some basic hiking in. I love color, so I wanted an injection of bright hues into whatever I wore. Denim is practical for travel because it is easy to wear and easy to clean. I own three of these Torrid denim shirts in a variety of colors, but this light wash version gets the most wear. I love it with dark wash jeans so it isn't too "denim on denim" looking. My most comfortable sneakers at the time were these Reeboks, and they matched my cheery palm print tank. These were all easy pieces for a car trip, walking around, and having a little adventure. These particular capris stretch out a bit after a couple wears, so I made sure to bring another couple pairs of denim capri options for this trip.

Day 4
Day 4 was another day of glorious weather and driving along the coast. We hiked a little, saw more trees, watched elk, and viewed the sunset from the beach. I brought my sneakers along for walking and flip flops for hanging out. This tank is another colorful option easily paired with any of my capri options. This was my first time wearing these Torrid boyfriend capris, which I discovered were a bit big and stretched out very easily. They looked a bit sloppy at the end of the day because they stretched out so fast. I was very disappointed. But they were comfortable and served my purposes for comfy travel.

Day 5
All of Day 5 was spent in the car driving from California to Lincoln City on the coast of Oregon. It was a long-ass trip through the middle of Oregon on a very hot, hot day. Had our car not had air condition, I would have raged a rage so fiery. Heat makes me very cranky.
You've seen this outfit so many times on the blog because it is my absolute favorite travel outfit for car trips. The maxi skirt gives me coverage (because sometimes I don't want to shave my legs), but also gives me freedom of movement and some air circulation. I really wish Kiyonna would bring back this style because I need way more colors. As always, I opted to pair it with my New Kids tee for a simple look that doesn't need layers. I usually wear black sandals, but have also paired my pink Reeboks with this look when walking around a lot.

Day 6
For our last day of travel, I opted for thin layers on top and my trusty Catherines Girlfriend Jeans. This is another style that NEEDS to be brought back. This was the first trip where I was able to see what a gem these jeans really are. They are now my go-to travel jeans because they are incredibly comfortable, fit very well, don't stretch out too much in the legs, and the waist never stretches out. These jeans have the hidden elastic waist inside the band, so no one else even knows it's there. While I typically wear them rolled up as capris, they can also be worn at full length in case the weather changes. I have taken these jeans on every trip since because I cannot be without them.
