Happy June! I hope you are all doing well. May has been an insanely busy, but very fun month full of love and surprises. I turned 37 mid-May and celebrated my 9th wedding anniversary just last night. I usually like when my summer slows down, but I'm looking forward to the events and parties we have planned this season - Bunco-hosting, a joint birthday party, comedy shows, the Highland Games, and MST3K Live!
For today's review, I chose the Adriana Cardigan from Kiyonna. Before you go thinking I am crazy for wearing a cardigan in the summer, let me say that this lightweight cardigan is perfect for cooler summer evenings, layering for travel, and will transition into the fall very well. It just started getting warm and sunny during the days here, but nights are still chilly enough for lightweight coverings. As soon as the sun goes down, I need that extra layer. Read on for my review of this cardi and fit tips on the rest of my outfit as well.

Before we get started, I am 5'9", wear a size 22/24 or 3X typically, and my measurements are 52/49/58.
The Adriana Cardigan is a lightweight, open front sweater that comes in Heather Grey and a dusky blue Chambray hue. I chose it because it looked like a true lightweight layering piece that I don't have a whole lot of in my wardrobe. I'm wearing the 3X and find it fits true to size, though slightly larger. The poly/spandex fabric is very soft. The first time I touched it, I likened the softness to a tightly woven fleece. The knit is very stretchy and lightweight, though if you are familiar with Kiyonna's bellinis (which I love!), the fabric of the Adriana is a little thicker and definitely more stretchy. Sometimes the arms of the bellinis can stretch out a bit with extended wear, but the sleeves of the Adriana do not stretch out at all, even with me pushing them up to my elbows for a while. I also didn't have any issues with wrinkling and did not need to steam this piece out of the package. It kept me warm in the cool breeze, but it wasn't uncomfortably hot either. I'm someone who often gets way too warm, so I am pretty picky about my jackets and cardigans.
The cardigan is a longer tunic length with a slight high-low hem, making it a little longer in the back. The front hem hits me in the upper thigh region. At first, it seemed a bit oversized because I don't often wear pieces this length. But I quickly relaxed into it and found it to be a great silhouette. Adriana has a bit of an A-line, so the 3X provided room for my hips and fell nicely over my body. The cardigan also features two roomy, drapey pockets on either side. I could literally fit my 8-pound chihuahua in one of the pockets, so there is plenty of wonderful space for whatever you need to bring with you. They were also cozy spots to keep my hands warm.
In styling this piece, I was thinking of picnics at the lake, evening BBQs, and walks on the beach. The Pacific Northwest weather can be a little kooky and, as I mentioned before, the evenings are still chilly. The Adriana Cardigan was a great layer as the sun began to set. I paired the cardigan with this knit tank from ModCloth. I have a few patterns of this tank style and really love them for breezy, warm weather ensembles. The tank is a longer length with a rounded hem, so I tucked some of the hem into my pockets to give it a shorter length under the cardigan. I wear these tanks in a 3X and find they are just slightly oversized. Made of a soft knit, they travel well and are not prone to wrinkles.
The embroidered jeans are full length, but come already cuffed. I prefer this cropped length so I can wear flats. I tried these on in store at Torrid when I returned some shorts in April. I am wearing a size 22 because a lot of Torrid's size 24 denim is a bit oversized on me. The 22s fit perfectly! I loved them, but they were a bit over my budget. Sean gave them to me as a birthday present! I love the distressing and wash, but the big standout is the adorable embroidery of flowers and bees. They are so cute! I added an extra pop of color in the form of red sandals, with sparkly rose gold accessories.
