What I Wore: My First Kimono!

After searching and searching for the perfect kimono for me, I found one!  I've always been a fan of the kimono trend because I like the idea of this colorful layering piece.  I typically wear cardigans or shrugs over tank tops, so the kimono is a great alternative.  During an ASOS sale last month, I mulled over a few different patterns and color combinations for quite some time before making a choice.

While many stores have gotten in on the kimono trend, I feel like ASOS has offered so many different patterns and colors. There was a very pretty pink, ethereal one last summer that sold out of my size before I could get to it.  When I saw this gorgeous red rose number, I snatched it up immediately.  It is understated enough to go with lots of different looks for many occasions.  With blue, ivory, and green thrown in as well, I can make it work with various elements of my wardrobe.  Plus, the fringe at the hem is so fun!

The material is a light, sheer polyester that hangs nicely.  I usually go with a US 22 when buying from ASOS Curve, so I went with a US20 in the kimono.  While the kimono doesn't meet in the front in this smaller size, that really isn't how I ever intended to wear it.  I feel like the smaller size is a better fit for me because I didn't want it to be super over-sized.  The colors are quite lovely in person.  I was so excited we had sunshine to play in and gorgeous blooms for a background.

I paired the kimono with a simple black tank and jeggings, nude wedges, and my new Charming Charlie necklace.  I loved that the necklace had a bit of a modern art deco or Victorian feel alongside the kimono. They just seemed to be perfect for each other.
