What I Wore: Happy Hour Hottie
Monday, August 4, 2014
On a rather warm day this month, my husband's coworkers had their second Happy Hour gathering. The first one was really fun (amazing steak bites and cheap margaritas!), so I was all for crashing the party. Not all the spouses attend or are able to attend, so sometimes I feel weird tagging along. To make up for my self-consciousness, I try to look as put together as I possibly can to at least convey some extra confidence.
The weather forced me to keep it simple, added to the fact we also had to run errands afterward. My maxi skirt always comes in handy for times like these. I particularly love this striped skirt because it added some fun and interest and goes with pretty much every color. I originally bought this skirt in a 4X, but finally had to retire it from my closet. It was just getting too baggy. (You can buy it from me here!) During Kiyonna's big 4th of July sale, I snagged this 3X as a replacement. Yay!
I normally dislike the banded and elastic-bottom tops, but they just work so well with this skirt. The elastic sits at the waist and keeps the top at a proportional location. I like that I don't have to tuck in my top. Most of my t-shirts, and other tops I could pair with the skirt, are just too long and need to be hemmed at this point. Happily, these pretty shades of purple compliment each other well. Not only is this a comfortable look, but one I can throw together quickly if need be. I usually accessorize very simply with a matching shell necklace and some dangling earrings. No fuss!
